**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Parth N. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 06, 2020

**What do you like best about Chromium OS?**

The os is lite and efficient. It can easily run on even a decade or older hardware smoothly. It's easily available and simple to install. The website is user-friendly.
It is mostly for work so it has no other features, and it feels very neat and clutter free. It has a very business like experience on any desktop you use on it.

**What do you dislike about Chromium OS?**

It's very difficult to play any kind of media or install any app other than chrome extensions, which make the os very limited.

The os also feels a little clunky at times, unpolished even.
The data is never saved on it and it refreshes everything on every start up.

**What problems is Chromium OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Since the os can run on any hardware, the work pcs that have been provided are cost effective yet stable enough for work.

Another benefit is that it's very easy to keep restrictions on the os for only work related websites and other functions

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jenn C. | Research Scientist / Engineer / Lead Data Analyst, Higher Education, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 29, 2017

**What do you like best about Chromium OS?**

At my work, Google Chrome browser is not usable on our computer systems. Therefore, we had Chromium installed as a replacement. I like that I have most of the functionality of the Chrome browser, although with some limitations.

**What do you dislike about Chromium OS?**

It doesn't look as sleep as Chrome, and lacks the Google connectivity that you get with Chrome as well. We can't play flash, but that may be a limitation of our system setup and not the browser itself. It does crash occasionally, requiring me to kill certain tabs. Although I prefer the look and functionality of Chromium/Chrome over Firefox, there are some pages/plugins that work with more stability on Firefox and don't always have support on Chromium, so I still am required to use at least 2 different browsers.

**Recommendations to others considering Chromium OS:**

It is a good alternative, just be prepared to deal with the lack of Google connectivity, and also Chromium does not support all of the apps and plugins/addons that you get with Google Chrome.

**What problems is Chromium OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have Chromium as an a stand in for Chrome, which is not supported on our operating system anymore.

  ### 8. Very great way to use cloud-based, web-browsing computer

I love how lightweight this computer is, and how I can use Google Drive for everything. This computer being primarily web- and cloud-based helps make work easier when I have a lot of demand on my web browser, with multiple tabs and accounts open.

**What do you dislike about Chromium OS?**

It would be nice if I could have all these above features, plus a hard drive so I could download and run a handful of programs

**Recommendations to others considering Chromium OS:**

Absolutely perfect for web- and cloud-based work. May want to consider a Mac or Windows if you need to download programs.

**What problems is Chromium OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Lightweight, easy-to-use computer that runs web extremely well

  ### 9. Great Web Application for surfing the web

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2017

**What do you like best about Chromium OS?**

Open Source that is quite comparable to Google chrome.

**What do you dislike about Chromium OS?**

Can be slow at sometimes, not the fastest web browser.

**Recommendations to others considering Chromium OS:**

  ### 10. A progressive OS for today's netizens

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sarneet C. | Software Developer Intern, Management Consulting, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 07, 2016

**What do you like best about Chromium OS?**

If you are someone who lives on the internet, has Google as their m=best mate, Chromium OS is the right choice for you. Why buy a 1000$ "Premium" laptop for surfing internet only? Chromium OS is super lightweight and thus laptops shipping with ChromeOS (chromebooks) are cheap as hell. It is easy to use, install and keeps you connected to your favorite apps. The chrome store has many apps to suit your needs. It is much more secure than traditional chrome browser. And best of all is, its Open Source. Google services are very well integrated.

**What do you dislike about Chromium OS?**

Chrome OS is heavily dependent on chrome store apps which IMO are not just enough. There are a lot of spam apps and extensions that destroy the experience. Although some apps like evernote, Pixlr etc are very well implemented. developer tools are provided by Google but lack documentation. It requires a 24x7 internet connection to function.

**Recommendations to others considering Chromium OS:**

If you are someone who lives off the internet and all you gotta do is surf, then chrome OS is definitely for you. Google apps are well integrated. Cloud Storage is your best friend.

**What problems is Chromium OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The experience of surfing is much better here due to awesome integration of google apps and services. Some apps like evernote are great to use.

  ### 11. Chromium is excellent!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Facilities Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2016

**What do you like best about Chromium OS?**

Chromium makes files accessable on any computer. But it is secure. I love to use it to work anywhere for work or to access files from any computer. It's been long overdue. No longer do you have to wait to return to your desktop computer to finish work. I enjoy this software immensely.

**What do you dislike about Chromium OS?**

I don't dislike anything on this software, to my knowledge. Still testing it out, but it has worked well in the past years...and I presume this will do just as well.

**Recommendations to others considering Chromium OS:**

I would download this for easier access to files from other devices, and it is secure. So you will never lose your data anymore.

**What problems is Chromium OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It makes files accessable from anywhere. I love the Cloud! It's made my experience with working and accessing my files for different needs be it business or art much easier to access from other computers or from my laptop or phone. It allows me to connect files easily...and secured.

  ### 12. Fast, lightweight, internet oriented

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Giridhur S. | Senior Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 10, 2016

**What do you like best about Chromium OS?**

The whole OS is centered on Chrome, or chromium the open source version of chrome in this case.
Since there's so much emphasis on the always connected aspect of it, this makes it easier to work with Google Docs and other google services easily.

Web browsing is fast and fluid, and I installed it on my SSD, and well, it could handle 100 open tabs at a time without slowing down.

**What do you dislike about Chromium OS?**

This OS heavily relies on the Internet for almost everything, so your laptop will just be an expensive paperweight when you are out of range of WiFi or a cellular network.

This OS is also underpowered, since all applications that you see are "Chrome Apps" which are built on layers and layers of HTML and JS. If you want this to run demanding applications, such as 3D games and such, you might be mistaken.

**Recommendations to others considering Chromium OS:**

if you want to deploy web based applications on a large number of computers, without going through painful full operating systems installs, you should try Chromium OS, it just takes around 10 minutes per PC to set up.

And it 's open source, most bugs are addressed quite quickly

**What problems is Chromium OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was testing chromium OS to implement certain web based apps, which provide an online discussion platform for children. I chose chromium owing to the minimal set up involved, and I was able to successfully deploy a prototype on 20 computers.

**Reviewed Date:** January 20, 2016

**What do you like best about Chromium OS?**

It has much similarities with Chrome, but it is an open source web OS, which has simple look, more secure.
Its installation takes very less time for all the OS's I have used and booting is super fast. Also it makes cloud storage so simple, and has lots of extensions. **Reviewed by:** Manoj G. | Associate Software Engineer, Computer Networking, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about Chromium OS?**

Simple and best user interface, gives best browsing experience. It's easy to install and boots very fast. Using it is not difficult for the ones who are familiar with Chrome browser. Has good support and lots of extensions.
No need of internet security since it is more secure compared to browsers, this OS syncs all the apps linked to your google account so it is like an android mobile inside your computer.

**What do you dislike about Chromium OS?**

At first I was too impressed with cloud storage, but due to its connectivity issues I am feeling irritated. Since it is a new OS it doesn't have lots of apps, support team should come up with a way to make Android apps fit into it. Also, there are lots of fields which need improvement.

**Recommendations to others considering Chromium OS:**

Give it a try and for sure you will love it, the best web based OS one can ever come across.

**What problems is Chromium OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Internet is the one source from which you get viruses and other malware to your system, by browsing in chromium OS which has high security features, I stopped buying internet security. So it is more economical.

Best web optimized OS where wll features of a normal web browser are accessable with great extent. Boot speed is around 3 sec which is fastest according to my experience compared to other OS's. Easy installation which takes just few minutes. Some special extensions which are only available for Chromium.

**What do you dislike about Chromium OS?**

As storage based on cloud it is simple to handle, the problem arises when you want to work offline. It offers you very less functionality while working offline as compared to that of working on-line as the information/data required is not available.
Some application are also not available.

**Recommendations to others considering Chromium OS:**

As it a open source many people have contributed to it.
We will get to see lot of application are present to suite your requirement.
We need to work with similar kind of product to get to know the difference between the these projects for example the same product is available by Firefox also.

**What problems is Chromium OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being in IT field. We need to contribute to the open source projects. Working with chromium we are able to modify and use it to match the requirements.

  ### 27. A powerful web OS

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** kiran k. | Student, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2016

**What do you like best about Chromium OS?**

One of the best and simple web tool to use. It is easy to install which takes few minutes. The startup time times very less time and is more secure. The cloud storage helps in not using extra hardware and it is more safer. Provides lots of extensions like music, play, drive etc.

**What do you dislike about Chromium OS?**

Lots of ads pop ups frequently. Not better for offline storage. Sometimes it takes lots of storage as compared to others. Few apps are available and also they take more time to install.

**Recommendations to others considering Chromium OS:**

Everybody can try it once, It is open source so you can change and customize it. It provides best feature and even you can contribute to open source. You can compare it with other tools to get to know its features. You can enjoy lots of apps which are available in app store.

**What problems is Chromium OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Since it is open source I used it for development purposes. I am using chromium os in my system for daily purpose. Some times i even switches from chrome to others where chromium fails to give required feature.

  ### 28. Chromium- A powerful opensource web OS!

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abhi A. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2016

**What do you like best about Chromium OS?**

The startup time of Chromium OS is very fast. It has all the features supported by chrome and is an open source project. It also integrates easily with all the google accounts. We can install many extensions in Chromium OS which are not permitted in Chrome. For instance: Flash video downloader exists for chromium however not for chrome.

**What do you dislike about Chromium OS?**

Chromium consumes more memory when compared to firefox which is also open source web OS. Firefox supports javascript better. The control for the administrator is much better in firefox. Chromium OS is not so supportive for offline usage. It has a slow performance when more tabs are opened.

**Recommendations to others considering Chromium OS:**

If you are a user, I prefer chromium more than chrome. Google chrome is just a stable release of Chromium OS with added support from google like crash reporting. If you don't wish to depend on Google, you can customize your own Chromium browser.
But if you wish to contribute for open source project, then go for firefox.

**What problems is Chromium OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I, as a developer, have tried and used Chromium OS for open source development. But I find contributing for firefox is much more worth than Chromium. Even firefox supports most of the features that are supported by Chromium.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** 亚东 . | Software Engineer, Semiconductors, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2015

**What do you like best about Chromium OS?**

Used just like Chrome Web Browser. Fast, simple to use.
The Chromium OS installed takes less than 10 minutes, and boot to OS cost less than 10 seconds.
Chrome OS browser continues the Chrome security. Secondly, Chrome OS for remote hacking and theft of the equipment have carried out security. Finally, as the data is in the cloud OS, even if the device does not accidentally fall into the water or is on fire, there will be no danger of data loss.
Chrome OS is fully optimized for the Web: because the whole system is a browser, so all firmware, background and foreground are optimized for browsing the Web and Web applications do. Also, for Web applications, many related to the calculation of the parts are in the server / cloud conduct, the terminal device only needs to be rendered graphics, so computing resources can be fully utilized.

**What do you dislike about Chromium OS?**

No enough apps for user to use. Gap with other operating systems is still very great, the need for further improvement.
Network connection speed belongs to uncontrollable factors, since the Wi-Fi unstable, often see App icon becomes a "This web page is not available".

**Recommendations to others considering Chromium OS:**

Could have a try on this product. It makes you feel like using Chrome Web Browser.

**What problems is Chromium OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've been testing chromium on a test machine for the past month and I am surprised at how fast and responsive it is. Not dragged down by bloatware.

**What do you dislike about Chromium OS?**

If your used to windows or OS X it will be harder to wrap your head around. A lot of applications built for Windows don't work (for obvious reasons)

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David S. | Senior Sales Representative - Service Management, Computer Software, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2013

**What do you like best about Chromium OS?**

As a google android user, i like the seemless integration it provides into the google network as a whole: googleDrive, Play, Music etc.
Helps reduce hardware costs by offering cloud storage instead of physical HDD. Ideal for budget conscience users.

**What do you dislike about Chromium OS?**

requires continuous online connectivity to function where the primary storage system is based (googleDrive). OS relatively new so not widely used, or offered to users with a phsyical hdd.

**Recommendations to others considering Chromium OS:**

Very new OS and developed after the growing popularity of google chrome. They rely on applications to function (like those seen on the Chrome web browser). Currently only available to laptops made for chromium, so can not be installed manually; the reasoning is that chromium is designed for low-cost laptops which eliminate the need for a harddrive and therefore offer googledrive storage. Perfect for student users and home users but still in its infancy.
Chromium is the next step for Google, providing an alternaive OS to MS or Apple. Give it time to mature and im sure it will have a loyal following!

  ### 38. Great for power Google users

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 11, 2013

**What do you like best about Chromium OS?**

Chromium is a great OS for power Google users. Very affordable and includes 100GB of Google Drive storage for free (2 years). Viruses and malware are virtually non-existent. Very basic smooth interface as long as you aren't running many tabs.

**What do you dislike about Chromium OS?**

No real advantages to users not tightly integrated with Google services. Slows down when using more tabs. Basically pointless OS without internet connection.

**Recommendations to others considering Chromium OS:**

None.

  ### 39. Google Chrome's OS Foundation

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael F. | Senior Technical Account Manager, Team Lead, Computer Software, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2012

**What do you like best about Chromium OS?**

The built-in cloud functionality is amazing, and it ties in with your google accounts seamlessly.

**What do you dislike about Chromium OS?**

It is a very closed OS, so if you are looking to just perform tasks and are ok with limited OS control this is fine, but as an advanced linux user I find it difficult to have an OS that limits my administrative abilities.

**Recommendations to others considering Chromium OS:**

Chromium is great for users who are linux entry level, and for netbooks. Take a look, it is free!
