"A Cost-Effective Solution for Multiple Business Needs"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Canto?

Portals is a great feature and it’s easy to manage users, user groups, and content. We’ve built almost 20 portals for different audiences, both internal and external. Version control is important to us, and we use Canto links to add documents like brochures, spec sheets, and similar files to our website, so we only need to update a single file in Canto. Upload links are also very useful for collecting content from different sources and getting it into Canto. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canto?

Smart tags could definitely be improved. It would help if there were a way to feed the AI references, instructions, and guidelines up front so the functionality is more accurate and consistent. With our products, smart tags have mostly been a miss so far, and it would be nice to fully automate tagging instead of relying on manual input. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Helpful Onboarding and Easy Custom Metadata Tagging"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Canto?

The onboarding support has been helpful, and I appreciate the suggestions for best practices. It’s also easy to create custom metadata and tag assets in a straightforward way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canto?

Some basic user actions still seem to be missing, like a “Deselect All” option. It’s also not very clear how to move assets between albums, instead of only copying them. And while I’m excited about the new look and features, the “switch to new library” messaging should be optional and not sit on the screen all the time. Overall, it still feels very buggy, and it doesn’t stay in the new interface once the Escape key is pressed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Our adoption and usage of Canto continues to grow even with technophobes on our teams"
5/5
What do you like best about Canto?

We’ve been with Canto for about 18 months, and our adoption and use cases continue to grow. Our first portal helped engage new users who were hesitant about using this DAM (and our previous one). We also implemented watermarks, which our clients, teams, and legal counsel really appreciate—and they are so easy to set up. We’re continuing to learn more about this powerful system and its features as we go. We love our team and are really glad we made the move. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canto?

Our implementation took much longer than we were advised in the initial vetting. In many cases this was because key staff were not available or didn't understand the needs (even though outlined in our initial outline)

There is almost TOO much to learn and utilize.

The support documentation can be challenging, especially if you aren't familiar with DAM systems

One critical factor for us with a DAM is managing use and expirations and Canto does this but it is a bit more challenging than in our prior system Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Centralized Asset Hub with Seamless Canva Integration"
4/5
What do you like best about Canto?

I like using Canto to centralize all our photo media assets, making it a convenient hub for our marketing team and others in our company. I appreciate the integration with Canva, which enhances my workflow processes. The ability to create small galleries using custom links is also valuable as it allows me to share reference images or selects with people, making it easier for those often looking for something specific. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canto?

I think the new library still feels like a work in progress. It is a good improvement, but with any large new update there is a learning curve while also some aspects like search and structure seem to still have some bugs at times. Sometimes previews jump out of order as I scroll through my galleries and the results that are sourced in a search may highlight older images first. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Efficient Asset Management with Intuitive Integration"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Canto?

I use Canto to house, organize, and share assets for a nonprofit organization. I like how Canto has made it much easier to keep track of assets and relate them to each other, especially when revisions are needed. Replacing an old version of a file with a new one is very straightforward. The speed at which I can find content by tagging assets and using the filtering tool has been very helpful. I like the ability to share assets and relate them as well. The Canto plus WordPress integration is particularly valuable to me because it automatically adds new versions to WordPress when updated in Canto, saving a great deal of time. The initial setup was easy, and the tutorials before launch were very helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canto?

I would like to be able to have an additional field within the filter section that would allow me to select 'not related'. I deal with thousands of files, and each file has at least one file that it is related to. If I miss relating some files, it would be nice to use a filter to find the files that have not been given relationships instead of having to sift through so many assets. It would also be nice to see if a share link has been created for a file when looking at the file's information page. I would also like a more user-friendly tool for the creation of portals. The portal creator is not intuitive. It takes me a while to figure out what I am doing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"All Our Brand Resources in One Organized, User-Friendly Place"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Canto?

I like that all of the resources I need for my company's brand can be found in one place. It is organized neatly and is very user friendly. The performance is always good and efficient, and I haven't had any issues in my time using it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canto?

The content on Canto is sometimes outdated, making it hard for me to use in my newer projects. I also know some team members have had trouble getting started with the site, though I haven't had that experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Canto Image & File Asset Management & Repository"
4/5
What do you like best about Canto?

I like that you can create albums and folders and that you can define images with tags, keywords, descriptions, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canto?

sometimes it is a little difficult to organize images within an album because of the drag and drop system. When you check an image to move it around, it is a little difficult to see the check mark and also if you accidentally check another image at the same time, it is not very noticeable to see the check mark. "Streamlined File Management and Quick Access"
4/5
What do you like best about Canto?

I really appreciate how Canto has centralized all our files, which used to be scattered across local drives and shared folders. This has made accessing current versions easy and prevented the need to redo work. It makes grabbing the right asset quick and straightforward, allowing me to focus more on design work instead of searching for files. The search functionality is something I rely on heavily; it saves me minutes by letting me find files immediately without having to dig through folders or ask around. Canto has also simplified sharing files with teammates, so I'm no longer re-sending files multiple times a week. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canto?

Setup is the slow part. Getting the metadata and tagging structure right took some patience, and if you've never touched a DAM before, expect a learning curve. The catch is that it only stays tidy if you tag things properly from day one. Skip that, and keeping it organized later turns into a chore. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Canto Portals Make Content Sharing Effortless"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Canto?

What I like best about Canto is the "Portals" feature, which makes sharing our content incredibly simple. Instead of making people dig through messy folders or giving external vendors full access to our system, we can just build a quick, curated collection of files for them.

The UI/UX is clean and straightforward, and the integrations with Adobe Creative Cloud mean our design team never has to waste time jumping between apps to sync their work. It has great performance with zero lag, giving us a massive ROI on saved time. An unexpected bonus is the automatic version control, which guarantees nobody accidentally uses an outdated logo. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canto?

The biggest downside is the pricing structure and the initial setup time. Canto can get pretty expensive for smaller teams, and some of the cooler features or extra user seats require pricey add-ons. Also, getting everything organized at the beginning takes a lot of manual work. While the AI auto-tagging helps speed things up, we still had to spend a lot of time cleaning up tags manually during onboarding to make sure our search system worked perfectly. "Great Permission Controls, but Share Link Reporting Needs More Detail"
4/5
What do you like best about Canto?

I like having the ability to organize our assets on a portal that can be customized to be internal-facing or customer-facing. We provide assets to both our internal teams and also external, and having the option to hide or offer specific groups of assets in our library is key. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canto?

I would like to be able to send a file path link versus a share link to some of our internal users as they can sometimes use assistance in locating new assets and the only way is to offer a share link as of now. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
