SimVision Debug provides a unified simulation and debug environment that allows Incisive Enterprise Simulator to manage multiple simulation runs easily and to analyze both design and testbench behavior at any point in the verification processregardless of the composition.

## Xcelium Logic Simulation Reviews
  ### 1. Fastest HDL Simulator

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2021

**What do you like best about Xcelium Logic Simulation?**

1. Faster than most of the simulators such as modelsim, xst, quartus, riviera pro.
2. Allows to add deepest signals in the heirarchy, which is the most lovliest part about it. It is a critical functionality, I don't know why others have not included it yet in their simulators.

**What do you dislike about Xcelium Logic Simulation?**

1. No forcing allowed.
2. Simulation should be completely TB based, else you are helpless.

I would recommend Cadence team to add some sort of forcing functionality. It might lead to timing imperfections, but for a small piece of code that needs a review, writing TB becomes a little waste of time.

**What problems is Xcelium Logic Simulation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am performing functional simulation of the HDLs.

This product is critical part of our frontend RTL design time. It being faster than most of the simulators, helps us to debug the bugs in the HDL much quicker, hence, making timw to delivery much shorter.

  ### 2. Very User Friendly Tool having Multiple Features

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jatin B. | DFT Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 18, 2021

**What do you like best about Xcelium Logic Simulation?**

The best thing about using it is that it has multiple options available that makes it different from other debugging tools. I have been using it after using VCS and this one seems more user friendly. It has many option like Trace Drivers Sidebars that shows us the information of the percentage of that logic participating in the mismatch and that cool. Debugging has been at very ease with its features of representing the testbench string in ASCII format and other various format which as a fresher becomes very much useful to know in which mode you are and you are facing the issue that gives kickstart to the debug. The filter options available to search the hierarchy are very good. We can match any string with the hierarchy if it is a dot or slash though these are small small things but I find them very user friendly. It saves the previous 2-3 sessions in tool memory and gives us an option to reopen session again if it hangs while debugging issue.

**What do you dislike about Xcelium Logic Simulation?**

The only one thing I dislike the most is it's schematic tracer. Someone would feel it good as it gives the whole hierarchical schematic in the schematic browser but some times it happens that the it shows the nets unconnected which we find as connected if we analyze in the Netlist or DFTVisualizer.

**What problems is Xcelium Logic Simulation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Currently, I am looking at pattern mismatches that we face while simulating the test patterns generated from the ATPG tool. Also, I use it to dump VCD's to provide it to Physical Design Team where they perform IR DROP analysis for the same.

Debugging becomes very easy by using the filters available while loading the signals.

Simvision supports each and every present in the test bench like procedure_strings, pattern_count, pattern_number, cycle_count etc. that provides a good start to the debug.

While debugging I find it very cool that though there are 1000 patterns present in the .v file testcase but we can simple run 1-10 or 20-30 or any chunk of pattern by giving START_PATTERN and END_PATTERN in it. This means I do not need to regenerate patterns again in ATPG environment. I can simply run them from my Simulation environment.

  ### 3. Simvision with a vision to help debugging...!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** GURUMOORTHY . | Design Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2021

**What do you like best about Xcelium Logic Simulation?**

The debugging features where in one can jump into different debugging mechanism like tracing signal in schematic, or looking for drivers of a particular signal in source browser, UVM debug controls, target expression calculator, ability to control the signals & simulation while the run is going on; etc.
Also the access to checker blocks, assertion blocks help a lot at times to take a look at failures.
All these together make it a great tool for debugging.

**What do you dislike about Xcelium Logic Simulation?**

Sometimes, debugging is little tricky when it comes to x propagation, or simulation goes into forever loop.
Being into mixed signal verification, would like to have a lighter dump & faster simulation.
Anyway I believe Cadence is continuously putting in the efforts to achieve the same.

**Recommendations to others considering Xcelium Logic Simulation:**

Simvision is a great tool & mostly will help in achieving intended things.

**What problems is Xcelium Logic Simulation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being into mixed signal verification, simvision is helpful in uncovering potential bugs dwelling in the design.
Which inturn helps in providing a better product to the customers.
A bug found during verification is one bug less in customers hands.

  ### 4. Very good debug features which help in identifying issue faster.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lalit C. | Sr. Elect Design Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2020

**What do you like best about Xcelium Logic Simulation?**

I like feature where I can look at the source code, also can track signal using schematic. Can trace drivers and loads of a signal with ease. Also GUI debug where I can add a breakpoint and look at each step or intermediate output. It is helpful. I work in mixed signal domain I probing and debugging mixed signal IP/SoC is made easy with the abve mentioned features.

**What do you dislike about Xcelium Logic Simulation?**

Dont dislike anything. I have been using it for multiple products and works fine for me.

**Recommendations to others considering Xcelium Logic Simulation:**

Use of many features such as viewing source code/schematic/tracing drivers,loads/following signals/line debug etc options are quite usefull while debugging and I found it suffices all my requirements for mixed signal verification of IPs/SoCs.

**What problems is Xcelium Logic Simulation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I work in mixed signal domain. So there are many problems regarding IE elements not being proper or functionality of block is not as per the specification. Mostly they are design issues or test bench setup issues.

  ### 5. Best built-in debug tool supporting multitude of HDL/HVL and more

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Semiconductors | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2020

**What do you like best about Xcelium Logic Simulation?**

Tight integration for various debug such as:
Verilog (RTL)
Gate Level
SV-TB
UVM
Specman
PSS
SVA
PSL
SystemC
DPI etc.

Very dependable debugger, does not crash as often as other similar tools do. Solid look-and-feel gives a very professional tool for day-to-day debug.

Signal search, value find, driver tracing are very easy. Expression builder, bus builder works like charm.

**What do you dislike about Xcelium Logic Simulation?**

Sometimes slow - especially on large designs over remote connections. I wish the SHM (the Dump format in Xcelium/Simvision) is as compact as FSDB (Fast Signal Data Base). Also PSS (Portable Stimulus Standard) support is yet to mature. Assertions work well, would like to see an evaluator engine so that we can add SVA on-the-fly and re-evaluate without having to re-run simulations

**What problems is Xcelium Logic Simulation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Driver tracing - works well till System Verilog/UVM (Universal Verification Methodology) drivers are involved
UVM - Universal Verification Methodology - phase tracing
UVM - Universal Verification Methodology - Factory override viewer, debugger
Sequence debug in UVM (Universal Verification Methodology)
Config Data Base (Confg-DB) in UVM via uvm_config_db class API is one of the hardest ones to debug, Simvision makes it much easier.

Drag and drop of objects across windows/panes, works well
Lot of configurations to tweak to individual style
Simulation hangs especially from UVM (Universal Verification Methodology) code/phases
Zero delay loops inside behavioural models.

Also using it for Analog and Mixed Signal/Real Number Modeling designs.

  ### 6. Great tool
