What do you like best about Beyond Compare?

Most Awesome Software to compare types of files and plain text. It is very good software for resolving the merge conflict during commit. we can also save the current session for future use. It can also be used for folder comparison also. The User Interface is very simple and elegant. The User Experience for the product is awesome, it pretty easy to use and understand the tool. Code comparison for the different versions of the codebase. I am able to compare the different resources files (images/XML) for different builds. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Beyond Compare?

There are very few issues I think, one of them is to include more file types than the currently supported one and support for downloading the text file from the internet and compare it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Very user-friendly tool and easy to use it. If you looking for a tool that can compare anything(files, folders, images, plain text), I would surely recommend Beyond Compare to you. What problems is Beyond Compare solving and how is that benefiting you?

Very quick resolution for the merge conflict in GIT. Code comparison for the different versions of the codebase. I am able to compare the different resources files (images/XML) for different builds. It is a really helpful tool for the comparison of two versions of the build. It really saves a lot of time during code compare and merges with Beyond Compare rather than doing it manually. "Excellent comparison tool - code, folders, options galore"

What do you like best about Beyond Compare?

It is very easy to use - an intuitive interface that supports drag and drop of file/folder paths. The number of options to customize your comparison results is sufficient for quick or in-depth compare. I also like the price - the multi-OS edition is still under $100 - I believe, at the time when I purchased it, it was around sixty dollars. It is a stable app on both PC and Mac, AND it comes with a portable version that you can carry around on a USB drive. All in all, perfect tool in my toolbox. What do you dislike about Beyond Compare?

Nothing really. For some, the UI might seem dated, but that's a personal preference. The most important thing is that the app does what I need it to do, and does it fast and reliably. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The interface is slightly overwhelming, too many options. I understand why, but I wish it would just open with a blank (not the last used) compare text screen. What do you like best about Beyond Compare?

Easy to use. All file operations are possible during file comparison (Move Copy, Save, Save As). Detect file changes if other party made any changes on same file. Support all major file format like PDF, XMl, etc. Portable installations are available. Binary level comparison is possible for binary files Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Beyond Compare?

The ability to realign the lines to compare and custom syntax.

Most compare tools don't allow you to change how the tool compares two contents, but BC allows you to do so by telling the tool which lines should compare to which, the tool then recomputes the contents from the target line onwards.

The ability to define custom syntax is also useful as you can tell the tool which type of content change is important, and which type is not (e.g.: the comments). This is very useful if you have content types that are not recognized by BC. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Beyond Compare?

Table comparison can be more useful if BC can show side-by-side view (vertical view) when viewing selected record instead of top-down view (horizontal view). It would be even better if users are allowed to define custom layout, like in my case the columns in my table are actually in pairs, so I want to compare every pair of columns on the left to the same pair of columns on the right. It is the best comparison tool. Easy to use, Compare files, folders, texts. Integrates with Windows Explorer easily. Set rules on what not to compare and what to.
