However, the team is willing to take requests and work with their engineers to bring new feature ideas to life. It doesn't matter if it is the designated support staff, account manager, project managers, or anyone else; they all are willing to jump onto whatever problem they can help solve for you. **What do you dislike about BenchPrep?** BenchPrep, in its current state, feels like it's in its adolescence. The company appears to have a general direction they would like to go, but there are a handful of awkward gaps in available services/features. Based on talks I have had with employees, I feel confident many of those issues will be solved in the near future, but I question why it took until now to identify and solve them. It would be worth BenchPrep's time to probe their customers and the industry continuously to ensure basic features are available and self-serviceable. **What problems is BenchPrep solving and how is that benefiting you?** They are helping us refine learning pathways and general content experiences for our customers. Compared to our last LMS, BenchPrep is far ahead with how customers see and interact with our content. Their recent implementation of milestones has been a big positive for us. That feature has allowed us to enforce the requirement of specific achievements in order for a learner to move on to the following content. Ensuring our customers don't just quickly run through the content is very important to us. BenchPrep has made that easier for us to validate the users knowledge in a unqiue and customizable way. ### 3. The platform is so easy to use for both customers and admins. The study plan feature, the strength, and weaknesses is a very useful feature for an exam prep candidate. The flashcards and practice exams are a great feature. **What do you dislike about BenchPrep?** Some features cant be customized. Though the team works with you to understand and do their best to fit the needs. **What problems is BenchPrep solving and how is that benefiting you?** I'm solving a lack of prep resources for a certification. The product helps me reduce the test anxiety of my customers. The benefits are enormous. My customers love the product we have put out. The ease of access, availabity of the product as a web app and on Android and iOS really adds value. ### 4. The BenchPrep Software is very well designed with a real customer first approach and their agile development framework allows for intelligent experimentation and constant iteration to improve customer experience. **What do you dislike about BenchPrep?** Some terms in the management console are "exam prep" heavy and could be modified to be more learner generic to meet different industry user needs. **Recommendations to others considering BenchPrep:** The Team at BenchPrep Ascend does a great job helping you realize your business goals. Be upfront and open about your product requirements, and goals, so you have a shared understanding of what great looks like. Be realistic in your time frames. They've been very attentive and responsive and make us feel like our needs are theirs. Jessica Small, our customer relations manager, has been very engaging and upfront with us. She makes sure we understand what is needed on both ends and puts forth a significant amount of effort to work with us. She has also gone above and beyond to ensure we're getting quality service, even so much as to attend our national conference to work our trade show booth and represent the product to our members. **What do you dislike about BenchPrep?** There can be a lot of moving pieces and players. With a growing company, it's easy to get lost in the varying portfolios. Sometimes things do not move as fast as we like due to internal constraints that we were not aware of. Jessica is very responsive and transparent when problems arise. So, while we don't get everything we want exactly when we want it, we're always aware of the challenges at hand. **What problems is BenchPrep solving and how is that benefiting you?** Aligning our systems has been the most challenging problem to date. We've realized that our internal system can be arduous for others to engage with, which can be positive and negative. Single-sign-on has caused a number of challenges, which we'd need to resolve if we wanted to move forward with our new database. So it's helpful to shine a light on those problems now, rather than have them come up later. ### 9. Users who are unfamiliar with online learning will find the experience intuitive, with a learner interface that is clean, relatively modern, and has a bunch of interesting features. Their instructional design team are a pleasure to work with and experts with the system, helping you get the most out of your content, in a collaborative fashion. Likewise, their Account Management team has a wealth of knowledge, are very supportive, and are available whenever you need them. Going a step further, we've been able to interact directly with their product and development teams, making custom requests and helping (at least a little) to shape their roadmap for the future. We also never had a problem with the scalability of the platform. If we had 10, or 100,000, the system responded the same. **What do you dislike about BenchPrep?** It's not a Learning Management System. They say so themselves. Which in practical terms means that the overall feature set is pretty limited, especially when considering the price. It is very expensive compared to other full-featured systems. The admin experience can at best be described as limiting and clunky. Most features are available only upon request, requiring custom development work likely 6-12 weeks out from the initial discussion. Likewise, the system doesn't follow any standards, such as .imscc, QTI, LTI, and even SCORM support is a complex and custom endeavor. The authoring tool within the platform is decent, but isn't really at a place where it is fit for end-user use. It started off as an internal tool their own use and it hasn't really evolved much beyond that. **Recommendations to others considering BenchPrep:** BenchPrep is great if you have a handful of course material in which you're looking to create once and distribute to a small-medium user-base. Challenges appear when you start trying to treat it like an LMS, integrating multiple systems, data/reporting, single sign-on, large numbers of courses, frequent updates to content, etc. **What problems is BenchPrep solving and how is that benefiting you?** We needed a place to host our online learning material, from test preperation to course material. We were looking for a modern, scalable, forward looking solution with plenty of room to grow into. ### 11. The idea of online study aids is cool and I think if we made the study aids easier to purchase activate, and meaningful they would be more popular with our clients. **What do you dislike about BenchPrep?** Communication has been hard, some of it is on us because we have been learning as we go and the people from our company and Benchprep are not the same people that started this adventure. At times we feel like we are being talked at and not listened to. The check in meetings can be rigid. Sometimes we feel like we are talked at and then the time is up and nothing is really resolved. I also dislike the general look of the interface because its boring and sometimes unclear how to navigate through the platform. It does not look good on the phone either. **What problems is BenchPrep solving and how is that benefiting you?** More accurate and meaningful calculations of results of a completed study aid and improved UX. BP staff have been patient and wanting to improve our study aids as well as the overall BP interface and functions as a whole. I like that they are thinking about how to improve the usability and look. I would love it if we could make the activation process easier for our clients. If there could be one log-in instead of multiple with emails and activation codes for individual products that would be great. I think people are turned off by our purchasing process and confused with Benchprep especially when they are a new user. ### 13. I do remember thinking the platform was very intelligent and detailed so it was very overwhelming at the beginning. **Recommendations to others considering BenchPrep:** Ask questions and create good rapport with your Account Services rep. **What problems is BenchPrep solving and how is that benefiting you?** Many of our candidates have given positive feedback about their experience with Benchprep's platform. The team alway willing to explore opportunities to expand and grow features and functions. **What do you dislike about BenchPrep?** Given the breadth of BenchPrep's clients and their individual needs it is sometimes hard to gauge where our specific product's new features and functions fall in terms of priority and opportunity for change despite our customers showing high demand for new things. **What problems is BenchPrep solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are currently solving the problem of having a robust platform for deliver exam preparation content for a licensing exam. Outside of some new features, we have benefitted from the robust platform in that many of our customers have expressed no desired change in features and functions. ### 15. I wish that we weren't so limited within some of our own products so that we could use features like flashcards, lesson plans, etc. to make the platform even more helpful for customers. **What do you dislike about BenchPrep?** The interface is pretty boring aesthetically, and some of the data features haven't been working right. We've had customers call with confusion about some of the data reports they're seeing. I would love to see more colors, more interactivity, more gamification--like the FitBit dashboard. **What problems is BenchPrep solving and how is that benefiting you?** Problem solved: Getting all of our study materials in one place for customers to use that's online and accessible by mobile device. ### 16. It is understandable, but it can make what I would think be simple fixes take a while to reach our members. **What problems is BenchPrep solving and how is that benefiting you?** A test plan that can break our exams down into multiple divisions - so studying for specific exam sections becomes more relevant.
