**What do you like best about Azure Pipelines?**

Visual Studio is the best choice for Projects in which internal collaboration is prior within the team. It is best in support of development related to DotNet and MVC. Additionally, Visual Studio provides the best compatibility with external software to connect with it and make the product accessible(i.e., SVN).

**What do you dislike about Azure Pipelines?**

Sometimes, Visual Studio lacks and hangs if more numbers amounts of files load within the project or multiple actions take place. Visual studio does not allow branching as Github, which is one of its demerits.

**What problems is Azure Pipelines solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have developed software modules using the visual studio and had easy working experience with it. Commit facility and changes identification functionalities are plus points of visual studio.

**Recommendations to others considering Azure Pipelines:**

A lighter version VS can be provided for lower system requirements

**What problems is Azure Pipelines solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm learning Python on VS which helps me on daily life- like add-on, color coding, user interface

One of the best CI/CD pipelines available in the market. Seamless integration with Azure Repos and other services is fantastic. Support of docker is excellent.

**What do you dislike about Azure Pipelines?**

Nothing as of now, the team has put in tremendous efforts to make the tool incredibly user-friendly, and they are introducing more and more features every day to enhance the CI/CD processes further.

**What problems is Azure Pipelines solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are helping in Continuous integration and continuous deployment for all the projects. Using azure pipelines, we have automated many manual processes to focus on business logic instead.

  ### 5. One of the best automation tools for Mobile tests

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

  ### 6. Solid one-stop-shop service.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gary W. | Junior .NET Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2021

**What do you like best about Azure Pipelines?**

VSTS is a product that allows for easy-to-find solutions from all pieces of the software development pipeline. What I like the most about it is that I don't have to go to separate applications to accomplish the tasks required for delivering or for finding out what issues are present.

**What do you dislike about Azure Pipelines?**

The benefit of having one product to accomplish multiple goals is that it does not integrate well with outside products or clients to bring in existing data. If a team is switching from one product over to Visual Studio Team Services, they may have to recreate solutions, which is inefficient.

**Recommendations to others considering Azure Pipelines:**

If moving from another project management system over to VSTS/Azure DevOps, try to manually copy anything that you may need for perpetuity between the two applications. There are plugins for managing things of that nature, but it's not particularly simple, straightforward or even free to do so. Be prepared to pay for any services rendered if 5 or more subscriptions are required for your team, or if you require on premises hosting, which is not supported through Azure DevOps and requires an upgrade to Azure DevOps Server, which is a paid service.

**What problems is Azure Pipelines solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are bringing Visual Studio solutions into continuous integration/continuous development with issue tracking and code sniffing included, as well as hosting software packages. The benefit of having all artifacts available in the same ecosystem as the codebase that you're working in is extremely valuable, and I've enjoyed having that.

I do not specifically hate anything at the moment, but definitely, there are areas where it can be better such as visuals and UI stuff.

**What problems is Azure Pipelines solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Trust me, it helps a lot, in terms of overloading items we get every day in our offices.

  ### 11. Easy to use if you have good yaml knowledge

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kunal K. | ML/AI Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Azure Pipelines?**

Nice UI in azure devops and easy to create pipelines without using yaml as well and easy way to decide source location from GitHub or azure githuh repo

**What do you dislike about Azure Pipelines?**

Not many examples compared to other services. If you are a new comer to this it can be difficult. Many full solutions exist but few walk through exist which make it difficult to fully learn the core workings of these solutions in terms of their yaml.

**Recommendations to others considering Azure Pipelines:**

Learn yaml and try to use terraform to avoid learning azure specific yaml commands. Try get a full solution and run it and try to understand it as it runs

**What problems is Azure Pipelines solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Automatic ML model deployment and testing. I make changes to my model code and push to my azure githuh repo and then the model with will retrain

  ### 12. The perfect tool to manage all your software development processes

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shubham Veer S. | Senior Software Engineer in Test I, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Azure Pipelines?**

I was working with a client that used VSTS to manage their project. I love the fact that we can track the progress of user stories, manage pipelines, deployment, and also has the support for Version Control. It's an all-in-one tool that you must have if project management has ever bothered you.

**What do you dislike about Azure Pipelines?**

Although for my official use the licensing was done by the client, when I saw the pricing, I think it falls on a bit costlier side. Also, you'd need a little time to get accustomed to the tool if you are a complete beginner.

**What problems is Azure Pipelines solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I worked on creating/managing user stories, deploying builds, version control, and share my work directly with the co-workers. Also, using it with Visual Studio has made my life a little easier as I make shelvesets, and share them instantly. The reviewer just needs to share by the ticket ID that's created on VSTS, and voila! Done. Also, doesn't matter if the person has Visual Studio installed. They can view the code directly in VSTS without having to download Visual Studio.

  ### 13. Very full featured source repository

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 25, 2021

**What do you like best about Azure Pipelines?**

The interface is very convenient, there is a very flat learning curve. Also, it's fully integrated with visual studio. You can choose whatever branching strategy you like. I've never experienced any bugs or down time. It's just a very good and thorough product.

**What do you dislike about Azure Pipelines?**

I find the user security management a little confusing. I'm always searching for where who has what role or why someone can't access it. It usually costs me 10 minutes to find the right setting, and I have been doing this for at least 2 years already.

**Recommendations to others considering Azure Pipelines:**

Have a dedicated specialist in your team to maintain builds and branching strategies. Without it, it can become messy and unclear.

**What problems is Azure Pipelines solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a company with a very large code base, it offers a very good experience and convenience to have a professional product. Before this, we used SVN, but if a company grows larger, products like that become obviously and painstakingly amateurish. Also, Azure DevOps Services (as it is called nowadays...) is fully integrated with things like scrum boards and ticketing management. Which is absent in SVN. Additionaly, we use a large testing envrionment, which is also incorporated within devops services.

  ### 14. Simple user friendly version control system

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Investment Banking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Azure Pipelines?**

User friendly UI - no need to learn or train you can simply start using. Other than version control can be used to build the code as well and generate MSIs which can be deployed as a simple installer. Stability and performance of is excellent.

**What do you dislike about Azure Pipelines?**

Does not have integration with industry trending CI CD tools like Jenkins and other devops tools. With the integration of Cicd platform this can be industry leading tool

**What problems is Azure Pipelines solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Implementing Version and source code controls. Also using it to build deplorable packages like MSI which are ready to be deployed. Parallel development by branching the code

**What do you like best about Azure Pipelines?**

Easy to build for any language code. Learning is a bit easier than Jenkins or gitlab CI.

**What do you dislike about Azure Pipelines?**

It is a bit expensive than other tools like Jenkins. But as far platform dependency, it is good to have in your CI/CD.

**What problems is Azure Pipelines solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is easier than Jenkins or giltlab and there is dashboards to create CI/CD. It removes lot of erfforts which we make to write Jenkinsfile or other scripts like in gitlab for ci.yml. It is tightly coupled with azure services so that it is very easy to manage. It is devloper friendly and easy to use. The one thing I liked most is, it is very flexible to use means you can use it in any environment.

  ### 24. One of the better ways to start your own DevOps/Automation process

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Albin L. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 21, 2020

**What do you like best about Azure Pipelines?**

One of the better entry points going into automation. Learning curve is easier that expected. It's cloud agnostic meaning you are able to do automation not only on Azure but on AWS & GCP as well. It has its very own repository module for versioning. There are ready made templates to get you started with. And a marketplace, for addons that would help you further enhance your pipelines.

**What do you dislike about Azure Pipelines?**

It's expensive compared to let's say an open source tool like Jenkins. Lacking CLI capabilities as well. Could be better integrated with Github since Microsoft already bought this.

**Recommendations to others considering Azure Pipelines:**

This is very much recommended to Microsoft dev houses. It provides all the features you'd expect from a DevOps perspective. It doesn't stop non Microsoft dev houses in using this as it is very much agnostic. If you are implementing Agile development workflow, then you are lookin at the right place.

**What problems is Azure Pipelines solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Removing the manual way of deploying and releasing applications. It saves a lot of time by just doing azure pipelines. Severe lack of manpower is also being addressed. No need for administrators doing releases. Developers can now concentrate on just developing and delivering applications.

**Reviewed by:** ATIF A. | Design Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 05, 2020

**What do you like best about Azure Pipelines?**

Visual Studio Team Services provides the software development option with which we can automate different applications by writing macros in Visual Studio. It helps to debug the code easily with different colors. It also provides the user with syntax. It is a cloud based which allows you to store the data in the web and access it safely whenever required.

**What do you dislike about Azure Pipelines?**

Visual studio is difficult for new user to understand and it requires some basic knowledge of Visual Basics Editor. And it is a bit costly.

**Recommendations to others considering Azure Pipelines:**

If you want to write some codes or do automation in Applications like Catia, Solidworks, Ansys use Visual Studio which provides you the best experience and the easy way to write the code and debug the issue. The only thing is you need some basic knowledge of Visual Basics.

**What problems is Azure Pipelines solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I write macros in Visual Studio so that they can be implemented on other Applications like Catia to automate the tasks and reduce the time. Using Visual Studio we can write the macros in Ansys to find the stresses and forces acting upon the elements.

  ### 33. Good for developers, not great for all product owners...

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James R. | Product Manager II, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 07, 2020

**What do you like best about Azure Pipelines?**

The flow controls for backlog > Grooming > in progress > testing > deployment is exceptional. The number of ways you can alter the board layout and work lanes for your specific internal policies is great.

**What do you dislike about Azure Pipelines?**

To really do any kind of reporting or analysis you have to tie into other Microsoft products (like Power BI) or spend time/resources creating a data pipeline to send the data to some 3rd party reporting platform.

**Recommendations to others considering Azure Pipelines:**

This is a costly platform to move to when you look at amount of time needed for implementation, training, managing, and reporting. It is a good solution if your company is at a certain level of complexity across all the different applications you use and you need a place to tie it all together for your development team. From a coder standpoint, it's really good and seems intuitive. Project Managers and Product owners (at our company at least) weren't really happy with it and found it very difficult to use for their needs, hence the integration with Jira.

**What problems is Azure Pipelines solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Challenges around project planning, capacity planning, how to best implement the AGILE mindset in our organization and still keep things flowing efficiently for work our employees need to accomplish.

  ### 34. Azure pipeline

**What do you like best about Azure Pipelines?**

Easy to integrate and use.
User friendly
Easy to manage and view job history.
Provides detailed job details weather you run in debug mode or normal

**What do you dislike about Azure Pipelines?**

Any change in service principal needs to be manually updated for each task which is very painful and time consuming.

**What problems is Azure Pipelines solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Azure pipeline is used to run deployment tasks and also run maintaince and scheduled deployment tasks.

  ### 36. An intuitive program with a friendly interface

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** André A. | Outsystems Developer, Civic & Social Organization, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 24, 2020

**What do you like best about Azure Pipelines?**

The auto complete for me is the best feature. A programmer does not need to remember all the codes, but the visual studio shows me the options available, including showing me in different colors so that I don't feel lost amid so many lines of code.

**What do you dislike about Azure Pipelines?**

When creating folders, I think that the menu on the side is not yet intuitive and more inexperienced users should have greater difficulty when creating or referencing their file folders.

**What problems is Azure Pipelines solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used a code editor that didn't change the colors of the interface according to the code blocks, but the visual studio in this regard is almost perfect. At the time, the other editor also did not have dark mode and as I like to use this configuration I chose it. In addition to being more fluid to program with him.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hans D. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2020

**What do you like best about Azure Pipelines?**

It is flexible for both Azure-based deployments as well as on-premise deployments. It allows us to work across various projects and platforms, supports YAML (a configuration file for builds that is checked into the repo), and provides notifications and approvals

**What do you dislike about Azure Pipelines?**

It can be a steep learning curve if a lot of heterogenous projects and not a lot of examples available for non-Azure solutions.

**Recommendations to others considering Azure Pipelines:**

Use YAML files rather than the classic designer. Create a local agent machine (access locally) to help understand the process (and file locations) even if Azure Agents are used when put into service.

**What problems is Azure Pipelines solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We wanted to make our deployments more reliable, quicker, and be self-documenting. Since implementing, we believe we have saved 1/2 FTE within my team per year. We can now do multiple releases per day if desired (rather than bi-weekly), provides consistency on the deployments (especially important with emergency situations via hotfixes, where mistakes can easily occur). It provides automatic documentation to business leaders on releases (done via Teams notifications), so additional communications not required. In some cases, the business can approve after testing in UAT, prior to production deployment.

  ### 46. Visual Studio Team Services Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shubham S. | Project Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 08, 2020

**What do you like best about Azure Pipelines?**

Visual Studio Team Services provide a great UI and facility for managing the progress of the project and efforts put in by all the resources. This tools project one more feature where the progress can be seen in a graphical format and termed as a burndown chart by which our project managers can see the progress towards the goal on each and everyday basis.

**What do you dislike about Azure Pipelines?**

It might be specific to the permission which I'm holding while using the product but it's confusing to navigate to different projects in the tool.

**What problems is Azure Pipelines solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using Visual Studio Teams Services for managing or tracking our project progress. We are in agile methodology and having 2 weeks sprint and need to create user stories and tasks to follow the efforts and progress by an individual. Along with the current progress, we are using the feature present in the tool for creating the user stories in the backlogs and pulling into the current sprint when resources are working on it.
In our case are having resources who are working in multiple projects and need to track the work progress where this product serves the option.

  ### 47. Best tool to collaborate code and tasks within a team.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2020

**What do you like best about Azure Pipelines?**

Easy to use and integrate with, and customize.
It allows tracking the history of work items, features, epics ..etc.
Easy to search for work items and features.
Support scrum methodology and allow for and anticipating the capacity of the team members.
Very helpful for planning, prioritizing of items and features road mapping.

**What do you dislike about Azure Pipelines?**

Navigation between different teams' boards can use some improvements.
Not enough features to support the standards events of Scrum methodology, for example, better support for retrospective sessions.

**What problems is Azure Pipelines solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Collaboration between teams members and a facilitator for Scrum, Agile and DevOps way of working.
We have integrated it with other tools as a code versioning control, and to perform and implement automatic regression testing.

  ### 48. Review for Visual Studio Team Services

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2020

**What do you like best about Azure Pipelines?**

It makes it easy to contribute projects with your team. It also allows me to keep track of my changes and things I am working on. It also gives you a visualization of your changes and progress, so its easier to see what you are committing to source control.

**What do you dislike about Azure Pipelines?**

I don't dislike anything about this tool, I think this tool makes things easier to share with teammates, and it helps those that don't like or know how to use command line.

**Recommendations to others considering Azure Pipelines:**

I think visual studio team services is really good and helps you with what you need on the fly. I don't think it is missing anything.

**What problems is Azure Pipelines solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows me to share my progress in multiple projects with my teammates. This tool comes in handy when I need to do more complicated commits to source control, as the command line does not give you a clear visualization of what is happening. I really like the user interfaces that you gain using visual studio team services.

There is a steep learning curve, but this is the nature of the job when dealing with complex deployments.

**What problems is Azure Pipelines solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have automated build and deployments using Azure Pipelines, this automation and workflow increases our effectiveness an reduces human error when deploying to production.
