That all API calls don't show up in the console. It's a pain to search the logs that are shipped to s3. You may or may not know every command that is tracked by CloudTrail. If you're looking for specific syntax, you need to either write a Lambda function to output the event about retrieval or dig through hundreds of logs trying to find the specific one you need. I have been using it for 2-3 years, it's the widely used tool for recording all the events happened on your AWS account. You can also keep track of API calls easily using it, and we can store this information into an S3 bucket. The best thing about CloudTrail is we can categorize the record based on so many attributes, which makes analysis of your account's security very easy. It also supports auto-scaling and load balancing built-in. It enables compliance to internal standards, comply governance policy, operational and risk auditing, and thus how it makes the life of a cloud architect really simpler. To store log file you have only one option as of now which is to store in S3 bucket. If there is no s3 bucket available it will create one for you and store in that. It will be good if they can show options to store files in local machine directly . Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
