As an audit tool and a web service, it is more granular and logs every API activity across your AWS Services. The granularity of the logs makes it useful for doing a deep dive into your AWS service (s). The log shows user, date, IP Address, so all you really need. The interface for searching and following trails is not user friendly. The JSON structure that is included as a log is very useful. It captures a lot of useful data from the API that can be used for crafting strong security policies via Lambda and CloudWatch Events. **What do you dislike about AWS CloudTrail?** That all API calls don't show up in the console. It's a pain to search the logs that are shipped to s3. You may or may not know every command that is tracked by CloudTrail. If there is no s3 bucket available it will create one for you and store in that.
