Quite a robust cloud backup solution **Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Patricio I. | Consultor TI - Ciberseguridad e Infraestructura, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** January 08, 2024 **What do you like best about Arcserve Cloud Direct?** 1- The backups go directly to the Arcserve cloud, and no local infrastructure is needed, only an agent needs to be installed on the devices to be backed up. 2- In the Arcserve Cloud, they protect the Datastore with the Sophos Intercept Security product thanks to the alliance made between Sophos and Arcserve. 3- Only the first backup is done fully, the others are done as infinite incrementals, which saves time in the backup processes. 4- If during the backup process, internet connectivity is lost, the backup also stops but when internet is restored, it resumes from the point where it left off and then performs a check to ensure integrity. **What do you dislike about Arcserve Cloud Direct?** 1- Arcserve Support has many opportunities for improvement in response time and knowledge. 2- The first full backup takes a long time to complete, the brand's support had to optimize the agents to speed up the process. 3- In connections with low upload bandwidth, the backup is quite slow, so the product is aimed at fast connections. **What problems is Arcserve Cloud Direct solving and how is that benefiting you?** 1- Support for organizations that do not have a Datacenter or infrastructure to store their backups. 2- Backup directly in the Arcserve cloud. ### 2. Arcserve helped one of my clients save from ransomware attacks with Sophos Intercept X. It has an advanced facility that prevents your system from cyber-attacks and data loss with fast recovery. **What do you dislike about Arcserve Cloud Direct?** I choose it randomly on this platform. It gains my and my client's trust. Its flexibility in management is best perfect and also valuable for time. There are no dislike features. **What problems is Arcserve Cloud Direct solving and how is that benefiting you?** When my client was in an important presentation with foreign delegates, and suddenly, between meetings, his system got attacked by ransomware. At that, I called the arcserve team, who helped us within a minute with less data loss and the remaining also gets recovered after some time. Product works great and as long as you have good internet has minimal impact on network performance. Cost effective and easy to use. MSP rich features and one console for all customer control makes this product a very useful and profitable software offering in our stack of services. **What do you dislike about Arcserve Cloud Direct?** Retention policy is built off calendar days and not backup generation count. So if you have a 7 day retention and you skip Sat and Sun on your backup schedule, then you only have 5 generations as the other 2 days count and will delete your generations. **Recommendations to others considering Arcserve Cloud Direct:** I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting basic to full cloud backup solutions at a great cost. **What problems is Arcserve Cloud Direct solving and how is that benefiting you?** SMB market greatly benefits from a single off site and secure backup for all major DR plans. This options is very cost effective, provides off site secure backups with data and image based backup options. It has become a more profitable product than we anticipated. ### 6. Support is very responsive. **What do you dislike about Arcserve Cloud Direct?** The interface isn't exactly intuitive. They tried to make it super intuitive, but in the process, it's hard to know if you're doing the right things for actually backing all your drives or setting up for a disaster recovery. **What problems is Arcserve Cloud Direct solving and how is that benefiting you?** Basically I'm saving myself from having to manage a backup solution in-house. No more tapes, now I have an off-site storage AND a DR solution. ### 13. In addition, the backup tools allow cloud retrieval should we ever need to restore our systems. **What do you dislike about Arcserve Cloud Direct?** While the tools to back up and replicate are easy themselves, neivgating to them is sometimes a bit difficult. The interface seems to update a lot so we have to keep up with the changes. **Recommendations to others considering Arcserve Cloud Direct:** Great tool with great customer support to help avoid the disater of losing data, it not only helps you, but teaches you data storage and replication. **What problems is Arcserve Cloud Direct solving and how is that benefiting you?** Arcserve/Zetta has allowed us to have peace of mind should a fatal error ever occur and we need to retrieve data. The cost is inexpensive as well, and we got a free trial month. ### 14. Paths are easy to create and their tech support is very helpful if their is an issue. They answer immediately and they follow up within a matter of a few days. The user interface is easy to use and manage. **What do you dislike about Arcserve Cloud Direct?** I have not been able to troubleshoot an issue by myself. I usually have to call support if something has failed. I have also had an issue with restoring files. I had to have Zetta support walk me through the process. **Recommendations to others considering Arcserve Cloud Direct:** Make it easier for users to restore files. **What problems is Arcserve Cloud Direct solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have multiple clients who work best with Zetta DataProtect because its simple and it hasn't caused many issues. After the initital backup, Zetta only uploads differences and carries forward the rest to essentially create a "full" each night.
