**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aditya B. | Quantitative Research Consultant, Financial Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

What I like best about Amazon WorkSpaces is its ability to provide a secure, fully managed virtual desktop that can be accessed from anywhere. The setup is straightforward, and it eliminates the need for high-end local machines since everything runs in the cloud.

The performance is generally reliable, and the seamless integration with the Amazon Web Services (AWS) ecosystem makes it easy to manage users, storage, and security. I also appreciate the scalability—you can quickly provision or decommission desktops based on need, which is very useful for teams and organizations.

Overall, it improves flexibility, reduces infrastructure overhead, and enables a consistent working environment across devices.

**What do you dislike about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

One downside of Amazon WorkSpaces is that performance can sometimes be inconsistent, especially when dealing with high-latency networks or graphics-intensive workloads. While it works well for standard tasks, more demanding applications may experience lag.

Another area for improvement is pricing transparency—costs can add up quickly depending on usage, storage, and bundles, making it harder to estimate ROI upfront. Additionally, the initial setup and configuration can feel a bit complex for new users who are not familiar with the **Amazon Web Services ecosystem.

Improving documentation clarity, onboarding experience, and offering more predictable pricing options would make the overall experience even better.

**What problems is Amazon WorkSpaces solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Amazon WorkSpaces solves the problem of managing and maintaining physical desktops by providing secure, cloud-based virtual desktops that can be accessed from anywhere. This eliminates the need for high-end local hardware and reduces IT overhead related to device setup, maintenance, and security.

From a UI/UX perspective, the experience is consistent across devices, making it easy to switch between systems without disruption. In terms of performance, it delivers reliable access for most day-to-day tasks, enabling smooth remote work and collaboration.

Its integration with the **Amazon Web Services ecosystem allows for centralized management, better security controls, and easy scalability—desktops can be provisioned or decommissioned quickly based on demand.

**What do you like best about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

What I like best about Amazon WorkSpaces is its seamless remote accessibility and consistent performance. Plus, its simple setup and centralized management make it efficient for IT teams.

**What do you dislike about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

What I dislike about Amazon WorkSpaces is that the initial loading time can sometimes be slow, especially on low-bandwidth connections. Additionally, occasional lag or latency issues may affect performance during peak hours. **What do you like best about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

It is similar to the work environment which we use daily . We can install all the softwares which are needed. It gives a feel that we are working directly from our local vdi.

**What do you dislike about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

To access the workspace we need to do an extra work like going to a browser, login with respective credentials. Since it is residing in cloud there may be performance issues while connecting to the workspace and users may experience some lag while working

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon WorkSpaces:**

A good option if you are using a cloud-based Virtual desktop. You can customize the workspace based on our needs. The only problem is the connectivity to the workspace if you are using the web version to connect the workspace. WAN can be used to connect workspace with better performance.

**What problems is Amazon WorkSpaces solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Have deployed multiple end user computing applications in workspaces which are created for the respective application owners. So that one workspace will have a set of all applications which one user needs.

  ### 15. Good to use but not for slow internet users

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amod S. | Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 26, 2022

**What do you like best about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

Amazon workspaces are the best systems for remote work. No matter where you are or what system configuration you use, you can log into workspaces and access the remote machine to complete your work. One of the advantages for the organisations is that they can restrict access to their GitHub codebases through organization-regulated Amazon workspaces only. Similarly one can restrict the DB access for particular IPs of the workspaces. It has RHEL-based Amazon Linux, very convenient to you and development centric. Another plus point is, that the system inside the workspaces doesn't restart if you just close the workspace and leave thus you can instantly access system to the point where you left off.

**What do you dislike about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

If you are the one who has internet with high ping, Amazon workspaces will give you trouble. Sometimes when the internet speed drops, the system in the workspaces is too slow to work. Regardless, it slows down a lot when you use the system over time without restarting it.

**What problems is Amazon WorkSpaces solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest problem Amazon Workspaces is solving is machine availability. One needs a machine with that specific configuration to develop a certain project/ product in a particular technology. You may not find the machine of that min configuration everywhere, while if you have amazon workspace, you just need a machine capable of running amazon workspaces. And luckily workspaces doesn't need high system configuration to run. This is a boon to large organizations operating remotely as they don't have to spend on the hardware and then on delivering the machine to all their remotely working employees.

  ### 16. A very powerful, secure, and high specifications cloud desktop

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Subham S. | Data Scientist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2022

**What do you like best about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

There are a lot of things that I like about Amazon Workspaces:
1. Accessibility: It allows you to access your desktop remotely wherever and whenever you want.
2. Security: Due to different security reasons it becomes impossible to allow people to work directly on client data which is sensitive. For that a new secure environment is created using Virtual machines and Amazon workspaces is one of the leading players in this area.
3. Configurabiity: These virtual machines are super easy to configure to the requirements that we have for a particular task. We do not need to have a physical system with different configurations. We just need a Virtual machine which can be configured according to the requirements of the deliverable.
4. Compatibility: Amazon workspaces makes it easy to install any OS of choice, be it Linux, Windows or Mac OS. It is super easy to configure.

**What do you dislike about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

There are a few things which I dislike about Amazon Workspaces:
1. Connectivity: It lags a lot. Even if we have good internet connectivity bandwidth it lags and sometimes disconnects. It also freeze sometimes to which a solution that we figured out is clicking 'Alt' key.
2. Does not Resume: Whenever it disconnects the AWS needs a restart sometimes and all the local environments inside the Amazon workspaces stops and have to start things from scratch, which becomes little annoying at times.

**What problems is Amazon WorkSpaces solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a Data Scientist, I have to work on different types of data which can be highly sensitive. So, using a Virtual machine is very common. Amazon Workspaces is one of the common options which I have seen my clients use due to the different benefits it provides which I have already mentioned above in the benefits section.

Since I have worked on projects in the Financial Services domain which demands high security it is very common to use a Virtual environment created with different restrictions by the client and Amazon Workspaces has proved to be very useful here.

**What do you dislike about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

Sometimes it disconnects randomly, which is very irritating and causes a loss of workforce. Also, if the price is higher than other market competitors, the price should be lesser, and more servers should be added for better performance.

**What problems is Amazon WorkSpaces solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Amazon WorkSpaces helps me a lot when I'm out of station or something, and I can easily access my machine simply by login id and password, which is so beneficial. No work force and no loss just because of Amazon WorkSpaces.

**Reviewed by:** Ellie C. | Accounting Intern, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

It's a great way to work from home but this program is something I cannot get used to. It works well like any other programming but it has its quirks and issues. Without those issues, it would be a good software.

**What do you dislike about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

Amazon Workspaces feels outdated and weird and something you wouldn't expect from Amazon. It has funny issues that force you to use your regular computer and limit efficiency. Sometimes, I couldn't print inside AWS and had to log out in order to print.

**What problems is Amazon WorkSpaces solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Amazon Workspaces is basically like a cloud for your computer. You can use any computer/laptop and virtually log into your desk. This is a great function for work-from-homers and people that travel for work. Essentially, it is like logging into your desk from anywhere in the world.

**What do you like best about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

One of the best features which I like most is I can access my Office Laptop at home without going to the office.
I can access my office desktop remotely from anywhere in the world.
It is beneficial in the current situation of the covid pandemic as I am working from home; it is impossible to access an office workstation, so AWS enables me to work at home by creating a virtual desktop of the office.
I can use it anywhere in the world with just a single login process, and I am good to go.
It maintains complete privacy and security to clients' confidential data.
No fear of data security breach.
It is very easy to configure.
It is very easy to use and also does not require any special training before using it.

It is a little bit slow
Java applications become slower in it sometimes frustrates more as work takes more time to complete than usual.

**What problems is Amazon WorkSpaces solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can access my office workstation at home
It is very easy to use and easy to configure.
It provides maximum security to data, so no need to worry about data breach

  ### 30. AWS Worspace for remote control

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

I like that it brings the ability to work on a machine remotely in my case. That's the use I have for QA testing a website that requires several QA and Dev environments. That are only accessible via the Remote Control machine

**What do you dislike about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

For me, I find that the remote connection is way to slow. It doesn't matter my ISP internet speed or my local machine specs, RAM, processor. The remote connection is really really slow. To the point that the screen sometimes lag and you can see the mouse going in and out as you move it

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon WorkSpaces:**

If you can tolerate the slowness of its connection, you'll make it. The machine you are remote controlling can also be a server and be running at all times.

**What problems is Amazon WorkSpaces solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to perform the QA testing required on the App remotely. Also, Amazon Workspace has a very secure connection, requiring a 2 factor authentication for logging in

  ### 31. Easy Use Shared Option - for small business application.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

AWS is simple: Access ID, User Log-in ID, & Password - It becomes an active space like opening windows in Chrome. We use UJet, J-sync, Outlook, as well as Chrome.

**What do you dislike about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

AWS doesn't always work well with transmission connectivity for headphones - there seems to be a lot of feedback on calls with customers. This results in disconnections and callbacks, hence frustrating our customers.

**What problems is Amazon WorkSpaces solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer-related issues related to reservations, billing, listing customer products and services, and more. The primary benefit is the ease of use for the agents. The AWS platform allows agents to mimic the desktop they have in the office.

  ### 32. The new standard for EUC and virtual workstations as a service

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 22, 2021

**What do you like best about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

Amazingly easy to bring your own license, manage costs, configure standard packagee and software, as well as implement GPO and corporate standards. AWS workspaces has a few intracacies to deal with but overall, this is the future of computing for EUC and personal workstations.

**What do you dislike about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

BYOL is not as straightforward as it should be and as higher than expected costs. However, this will likely go down overtime. For Windows, the setup time for a new machine is drastically higher than it should be. Again, this will hopefully become faster.

**What problems is Amazon WorkSpaces solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We want to enable our business to provision new employee workstations on AWS Workspaces and give new employees the choose of BYOD or grant them a lite-desktop such as a tablet. Data will never leave our control and the new machines can easily be scaled or shutoff.

**Reviewed Date:** September 09, 2021

**What do you like best about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

I enjoy using AWS Workspaces as there are independent projects that I engage in that I want to keep separate from others but do not want to take on multiple hardware devices. Using AWS Workspaces allows me to maintain cost-effective cloud resources to handle these projects as needed.

**What do you dislike about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

I wish I had selected a larger user workspace volume at the beginning.

**What problems is Amazon WorkSpaces solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can spin up a dedicated workstation as needed while keeping it offline when not in use to minimize cost. I then expense the charges, which I would not be able to do if I had purchased a dedicated laptop.

  ### 37. Challenging but enjoyable experience.

  ### 41. Amazon Workspace Review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vijay K. | Senior Software Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 05, 2021

**What do you like best about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

It provides a great Virtual desktop environment to work within your client's network and it consumes less space and runs smoothly. It is compatible with Windows and other Operating Systems and does not take much space to install. Also, the software is free to use and easy to install. It has a simple User Interface and connects securely. It helps to become productive while keep running your job smoothly on the network.

**What do you dislike about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

Sometimes it gets disconnected automatically when the network is stable and I have to login again. It takes time. Also, sometimes it lags if the client's network is weak. Some time due to server problem authentication fails and won't be able to reconnect and it takes too long. For using Amazon workspace your system should have good RAM memory and disc space.

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon WorkSpaces:**

Amazon workspace is good and light-weighted software that helps to get connected with your client without installing any VPN. It is a great product offered by Amazon. It is a free product and easy to use. It has features to restart your VDI and other settings.

**What problems is Amazon WorkSpaces solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I connect my client's network using it as a VDI and access and work within the client's network so it helps in privacy and protecting the data. Working on VDI keeps client's data secured and it complies with their privacy. It is fast than other connection methods and won't take much knowledge to use.

  ### 42. The best virtual/remote desktop application out there. Period.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abhishek J. | Vice President (Media Relations Club), Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 20, 2021

**What do you like best about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

The best feature is one can access their office desktop at home from their personal computer with secure connection, provided the company has integrated the service. Runs on low spec systems too with ease, virtual machine specifications can be upgraded.

**What do you dislike about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

Requires a good and high speed internet or one may face high 'ping' or latency while using the software.

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon WorkSpaces:**

Just get a better internet connection (preferrably wired) to work latency free.

**What problems is Amazon WorkSpaces solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Whenever one need to access their office computer (which is secure), they can do so using Amazon Workspace.

  ### 43. Very Slow - Can't rely at all times.

Please do no go for AWS Workspaces if you are using hefty softwares. It will slow down your workspace performance.

The simplicity and ease of setup and use of Amazon Workspaces make it an ideal virtual desktop environment to consider for various functions, including training, testing, proof of concept, development.

**What do you dislike about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

The only real issue I've encountered with Amazon Workspaces is that the performance can be spotty at times. For heavy-duty processing tasks or applications which require a lot of CPU and memory, be sure to request computing resources beyond what you would typically assume necessary to complete your tasks.

**What problems is Amazon WorkSpaces solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used Amazon Workspaces to create independent virtual learning environments that enabled us to install multiple software and complete server environments. Every environment could be isolated from others and prevented issues with numerous students in the same class.

  ### 46. It was fantastic using AWS

  ### 48. A great way to virtualize your work experience during COVID

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ashley M. | Development Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 16, 2020

**What do you like best about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

It's easy to use on both MAC and PC platforms. I never have to worry about whether I am in the office. The office goes with me everywhere I go. All of the programs I need are loaded on there for me. It's basically a computer inside of a computer.

**What do you dislike about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

There are some programs that don't function within AWS, like Zoom or other web video platforms. You have to use them outside of the platform, so if you need a document on your workspace, it can get tricky.

Additionally, only certain printers are hooked up. So if you are working remotely, you may have to take a file outside of AWS to be able to print it on a home computer. Again, these are things that could be fixed with your IT department, but would be nice if they were juts intuitive.

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon WorkSpaces:**

Make sure you have your key from your IT department, as many companies need that from a security standpoint. I think it works well on Mac and PC, so no real suggestion there.

**What problems is Amazon WorkSpaces solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to work wherever I am. Especially in the COVID-19 world, we need to be able to work in a way that is safe for us and this allows us to do pretty much everything we need to do without being in a physical office. Even the downfalls, I am able to get around them by utilizing basic computer skills.

  ### 49. Virtual system and software testing.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Koby J. | Information Technology Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2020

**What do you like best about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

The AWS system is a process that we use in our company in order to be able to communicate in the realization of projects in a much easier way because all this process is virtual where we can easily carry out software testing processes, applications or any system in a virtual machine since it is the way AWS works, this process is much easier because any type of software can be implemented, in addition to this we can use any type of IP and protect our data by using the software at try AWS has worked very well the favorable results the tools are totally basic and easy.

**What do you dislike about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

The most common problems are that the system does not allow to enter much of its software or systems to be able to test due to the fact that the system has a very weak virtual machine where the service or memory of the machine is less, so it may not work in one Correctly, some of the software with higher consumption is for that reason that the system can be negative in that part.

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon WorkSpaces:**

I recommend it because its main system of virtual machines works have been a great help for the testing of any software, however it has worked well the result is notorious, that is why I recommend it, however there are other points that can be negative for companies that use a system or software with a greater amount of RAM that cannot be provided by the Amazon system, however, they can contact support so that they can provide solutions to this. I recommend it.

**What problems is Amazon WorkSpaces solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Regarding some low quality software that does not deserve a lot of RAM, it has worked in a totally perfect way where we have realized that it is possible to test any type of system as long as it can work in your software because not all software works An effective way is for this reason it is for this reason that I like it and I can test any software in your virtual machine it is with a process of direct remote access from the Web which makes it easier.

  ### 50. Does the job for remote working

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michelle H. | Administrative Support Person/ Scheduler, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2020

**What do you like best about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

I like that i'm able to access all the systems I use on a normal workday. For the most part Amazon WorkSpaces is a great alternative when you are unable to connect directly to the company servers.

**What do you dislike about Amazon WorkSpaces?**

I don't like that i'm not able to use Zoom or Microsoft Teams through AWS. There are no drivers, like you'd find in your computer so the features don't always work. I was able to open both within AWS but it was unable to find my camera and the audio was so garbled, nobody could understand anything I was saying.
I"m also annoyed that my outlook keeps freezing up on me throughout the day. Sometimes I have to re-start everything, other times it's just outlook. It is not my internet connection because i'm connected directly to the router in my home.

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon WorkSpaces:**

If you want something that's easy to set up and use for employees that are just starting to work from home, then this is the software for you.

**What problems is Amazon WorkSpaces solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm able to complete most of the tasks I have to do throughout the day. The benefit of this is i'm able to work from home. If this wasn't available i'd be out of a job.
