We can easily map the response structure and formats and it has a well-defined format of response that contains headers. It is managed and serverless. This isn't built in to the product but they offer a custom lambda authorizer. However, unless you manage to carefully read the docs you'll likey find out much later in your process that a custom lambda authorizer doesn't get the body of a request. This forced me to use a lambda proxy and to handle the proxying entirely within my lambda instead of allowing the gateway to be the proxy and my authorizer to be just a piece of middleware. **What problems is Amazon API Gateway solving and how is that benefiting you?** It only stopped me from having to run another server to proxy requests. ### 49.
