"dead-simple documentation search"
What do you like best about Algolia?
I signed up for Algolia's Docsearch product, and it couldn't be simpler. I gave them the URLs to my documentation, and they set everything up and it works like a charm.
I also like the weekly reports because they tell me what people search for and what's missing from my documentation. That makes it easy to see which parts I can improve!
What do you dislike about Algolia?
Sometimes it takes a while for Algolia to index new pages, but it's never too long.
Recommendations to others considering Algolia:
their team is very responsive.
What problems is Algolia solving and how is that benefiting you?
Algolia makes my app documentation searchable with a nice interface that also blends in well with the design of my documentation. Users use my documentation more, leading to fewer support questions.
"Great tool, great support and super scalable"
What do you like best about Algolia?
It's easy to create an Algolia account, easy to implement and test it and superobust and scalable. There is basically no limit to what you can do. The onboarding was really smooth and self explanatory. The flexibility of Algolia is perfect. The analytics dashboard is great and offer deep insights about our business. It's super easy to update your indexes and very safe for our data. There are a lot of ressources availables to create the right search tool for our activity. The safety of Algolia is great and it makes sure nobody can steal your data.
What do you dislike about Algolia?
Nothing, to be honest, I like it all. I'm an Algolia fan. I don't see anything that is not useful and needs to improve for the time being. So keep going, Algolia; you're doing good! I can't wait to see what's coming next in the future releases.
What problems is Algolia solving and how is that benefiting you?
To create my search tool with customizable parameters and collect analytics to help me grow my business.
It took us 30 minutes to be up and running. Support has been helpful and very reactive when needed. Algolia has helped us improve our user experience and scalability.
"Best search for documentation sites"
What do you like best about Algolia?
Fast, on-page results, auto indexing, ease of use to setup and configure. Set and forget searching/indexing. Friendly team behind the product. Makes our documentation shine, by allowing users to find the information they are after. I like how the search results are presented to gives several different focussed results, without being overwhelming to the users.
What do you dislike about Algolia?
Nothing really. It does the job for everything I need.
Recommendations to others considering Algolia:
So happy I found Algolia. Previously was using Google custom search, but Algolia is so much better, faster and has a much better on-page interface. It's fast, auto indexes and does the job perfectly.
What problems is Algolia solving and how is that benefiting you?
Full indexing and search for a large documentation site. Users can quickly search and see results on the same page, without having to navigate to another page. Search results are listed in the context of the page/topic that they're associated with, which is brilliant.
"Great plug-in and results"
What do you like best about Algolia?
I love how well it integrates with my store and line the results or gives back. It's exactly what I was looking for.
What do you dislike about Algolia?
The only downside that I can think of is as my store scales up, I'd have to pay for usage, but the great thing is that I can start low and grow as the shop grows
Recommendations to others considering Algolia:
Take a look at it and see if it works for you. I tried other solutions and they all fell short.
What problems is Algolia solving and how is that benefiting you?
I added a clean search function for my store that gives customers clear results back.
"Great contributor to the Jenkins open source project"
What do you like best about Algolia?
An experienced Javascript developer integrated the Algolia search engine integration into the Jenkins plugins site. The implementation was smooth. It continues to provide valuable results.
We review the most widely used search terms and the searches that return no results. Those results have helped us improve the content and the structure of the site. We've used search results to refine our documentation development plans.
We used Algolia DocSearch for the Jenkins documentation site (www.jenkins.io). We made a few simple changes to our base page and the search integration was complete. No Javascript development skills were required. We pasted their examples into our base page. It worked. We've been delighted with the DocSearch experience for users and documentation maintainers.
What do you dislike about Algolia?
I've not yet found a way to tune or optimize the DocSearch results. We're not seeing the same reports from DocSearch as we receive from the integration that was done for the Jenkins plugins site. We'd love to have more ways to understand what users are seeking on the documentation site and more ways to tune the experience for those users.
What problems is Algolia solving and how is that benefiting you?
The Jenkins plugins site included an outdated internal implementation of a site search. It provided few metrics and did not help us understand our users. The Algolia search implementation regularly reports search traffic.
The Jenkins documentation site (www.jenkins.io) did not have integrated search. Algolia DocSearch provides integrated search inside the documentation site without requiring us to maintain indexes or host services to answer queries. We continue to deliver a static web site and the user can search the site contents from within the search box on the page.
"Great SaaS solution for rapidly implementing a powerful Search Feature in your App"
What do you like best about Algolia?
It is easy to implement complex search features, including faceting, performant autocompletion, and suggestions. The implementation is quickly done using their Instantsearch SDK. The best thing about this is that their Instantsearch SDK lets you easily override the whole Search UI to fit your brand and Components.
In my past experiences, I also used Elasticsearch, which is a great Open Source Search Solution. Although ES is very flexible, achieving the same Search Experience as Algolia is a tough road with Elasticsearch, especially for optimizing the queries and the ES architecture. It is also heavier on the maintenance side.
Algolia provides a straightforward experience and can even be easily configured by non-technical people (e.g. Synonyms configuration, ranking algorithm, etc.)
What do you dislike about Algolia?
The pricing of Algolia can be a bit steep, especially if you want autocomplete or query suggestions as you type, as each "Search Query" counts towards your quota. For this reason, several clients of my company prefer to start with "Search on Enter" instead of "Search as you type" with Algolia.
What problems is Algolia solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mainly using Algolia for Searching through normalized models such as web pages, recipes, user content, etc. Algolia is used on the Frontend for achieving a great Search Experience.
"I'm using Algolia Search and Beta Answers"
What do you like best about Algolia?
Algolia has always been a product to use for better search results, i.e. search applications that required NLP-assisted search.
Now, with Algolia Answers, one has access to ML/NLP search results i.e. cognitive search.
Additionally, Algolia offers a turnkey cloud search solution, with one's indices stored across three or more geographically distributed cloud instances.
I would definitely recommend Algolia.
What do you dislike about Algolia?
As always, pricing can be an issue, but with long term contracts, pricing becomes less of an issue.
What problems is Algolia solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cognitive Search.
Time to market - turnkey solution offers a pre-built NLP- and model-based enterprise search solution.
"Amazing web search platform"
What do you like best about Algolia?
The best available solution to configure the search. Algolia presents visual search results that are attractive as well as being very fast in terms of displaying search results. The dashboard is very modern, like the brand, and offers a fairly comprehensive analysis. It is very easy to configure.
What do you dislike about Algolia?
There are some limitations on the size of the record and the size of the facet. It also doesn't allow you to test based on the hypothetical user's geographic location, the price can go up very quickly if the outbound subscription is exceeded, it doesn't support too many advanced skills either.
Recommendations to others considering Algolia:
I would definitely recommend using this to manage your jobs and process large amounts of data quickly, we have been able to quickly execute several developer efficiency efforts.
What problems is Algolia solving and how is that benefiting you?
The benefits are a great user experience in terms of performance and prioritization of results. It has great customization features and that greatly helps board advisers to manage accounts. With Algolia we solve the problem of returning the appropriate combination in minutes, it has allowed us to index their respective data for each user so that they can obtain fast results.
"Excellent Customer Support, pricing, and flexibility"
What do you like best about Algolia?
Algolia’s customer support responds quickly. They would do their best to remedy the issue or find a workaround.
They would even create simulations for you to demonstrate before implementing the custom change.
The pricing works for start up like our that have low resources. We are not an eCommerce site. We just needed Aloglia for users to search from our list of universities.
Their dashboard is easy to navigate. Their custom features and documentation is easy to understand.
What do you dislike about Algolia?
Wish there was support for more languages and support for features that caters to searching in a foreign language.
For example some Taiwanese users uses phonetics characters Algolia can't understand this language leading to no search results.
It doesn't let you test based on the geo location of hypothetical user. Our search is optimized for geo location. So a user in China enters "University" then "University of china" would appear instead of "university of england" where I am based. It would be great if we can enter the hypothetical geo location
Recommendations to others considering Algolia:
Always compare their support performance with others. Excellent support is essential. According to our developers it was very easy to implement but do check with your developers if it fits your database system.
What problems is Algolia solving and how is that benefiting you?
We don't have to build our own search engine. The service is affordable and the performance is good enough for our users.
We currently have no research result of 3% this use to be 7% . There Analytics reports provided by Algolia helped me minimize no search outcomes.
