There are multiple things about Aiven that keeps at the top of the game.

Not an ideal product for multi cloud connectivity (We have AWS & Azure but we are dealing it seperately).

Cost is a genuinely High (but sort of okay with it considering the business impact) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Streamlined Kafka Management with Built-In Integrations"
4/5
What do you like best about Aiven for Apache Kafka?

I mainly use Aiven for Apache Kafka to handle real-time data streaming between various services in our system. What I like the most is how the managing is becoming smooth, along with the built-in monitoring and integrations. For managing, it reduces a lot of manual handling like setting up brokers, handling upgrades, or failures. The built-in monitoring offers a good overview and visibility for logs and troubleshooting. For integrations, the most helpful thing is integrating it with external systems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Aiven for Apache Kafka?

A little complicated at first but once I understood the documentation and the steps it gets easier by time Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Stress-Free Kafka Management with Aiven for Apache Kafka"
4/5
What do you like best about Aiven for Apache Kafka?

What I like best about Aiven for Apache Kafka is how stress-free it makes working with Kafka. I don’t have to worry about setup, scaling, upgrades, or downtime—everything just works in the background.

It’s really easy to get started, the interface is clean, and the monitoring gives clear visibility into what’s happening. I also like that it’s secure by default and runs on multiple cloud providers, so there’s no vendor lock-in.

Overall, it saves a lot of time and effort and lets me focus on using Kafka for real business problems instead of managing infrastructure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Aiven for Apache Kafka?

One thing I dislike about Aiven for Apache Kafka is the cost, especially for small teams or low-traffic use cases—it can feel expensive compared to self-managed Kafka.

There’s also limited deep-level customization, since it’s a fully managed service. For most use cases this is fine, but if you want complete control over Kafka internals, it can feel restrictive.

Lastly, while the UI is clean, advanced configurations sometimes require documentation or support, which can slow things down a bit.

Overall, these are trade-offs of a managed service, but they’re worth noting Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless Simplicity and User-Friendly Design"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Aiven for Apache Kafka?

Apache Kafka stands out for its simplicity and ease of use, efficiently managing the complexities of running a Kafka cluster so that teams can concentrate on developing their applications. Its main strengths are a user-friendly interface, fast setup, smooth scalability, and a unified platform that makes it easy to integrate with other Aiven services such as PostgreSQL and OpenSearch. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Aiven for Apache Kafka?

Aiven for Apache Kafka has significant drawbacks, particularly its high costs, especially when it comes to storage. The platform also imposes limitations that make it less customizable than self-managed alternatives. Users have raised concerns about the documentation being confusing and the platform's usability being poor for advanced configurations. Additionally, there are challenges with integration and some features are missing, such as certain Confluent connectors. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Flexible Data Integration and Effortless Cloud Storage"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Aiven for Apache Kafka?

I like the flexibility of Aiven because working with data you always need free flow of data and it have seamless integration with large storage and allows cloud storage Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Aiven for Apache Kafka?

Pricing can be high, especially for storage-heavy or smaller-scale setups. Many users note it’s expensive compared to self-managed Kafka or alternatives like Confluent (with discounts), Redpanda, or Upstash. Storage costs in particular get called out a lot, and at lower tiers, the dedicated VM model makes it less competitive for startups or low-volume use.

Less customizable than self-managed Kafka. As a managed service, it imposes some limitations on advanced configurations, security tweaks, or resource naming. You’re trading full control for ease-of-use, which frustrates power users who want deeper tweaks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Manage Kafka Without Operational Overhead, but Expensive"
4/5
What do you like best about Aiven for Apache Kafka?

What struck me most about Aiven for Apache Kafka is the complete elimination of operational overhead. With Aiven, everything is managed automatically, including continuous backups, and a 99.99% SLA is guaranteed. I integrate Aiven for Apache Kafka with Aiven for PostgreSQL and use Debezium connectors to capture database changes in real-time through Change Data Capture (CDC). Additionally, the data flows to Google BigQuery via the dedicated sink connector, allowing me to have streaming insights with low latency. The initial setup was quite easy and guided. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Aiven for Apache Kafka?

The aspect that impacted me the most was the cost, which increases rapidly when you start to scale. For smaller projects or startups, the pricing can be prohibitive compared to self-managed solutions or alternatives based on S3 like AutoMQ or WarpStream, which offer similar services at about 10% of the cost. I would have appreciated more flexible pricing tiers or pay-as-you-go options. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
