What is Aerospike, and what problem is it built to solve?

Aerospike is a real-time NoSQL database designed to handle large volumes of data with very low latency. Its hybrid memory architecture uses RAM and flash storage to support high-speed, scalable applications that need rapid reads and writes.

What languages does Aerospike support?

Aerospike supports 1 language: English.

What company sizes and industries is Aerospike the best fit for?

Aerospike appears to suit a range of team sizes, with positive user experience concentrated in mid-market and enterprise organizations. Marketing and advertising, financial services, and technology-related industries are also well represented.
  • Mid-market: Teams with 51–1,000 employees.
  • Enterprise: Teams with more than 1,000 employees.
  • Small business: Smaller teams are represented as well.
  • Industries: Marketing and advertising, financial services, and information technology and software.

How long does it take to implement Aerospike across a team?

Implementation timelines vary, but under a month is the most common reported range. Teams also report go-live periods spanning several months or longer.
Time to go live Relative frequency
Under 1 month, including under 1 day Most common
1–3 months Also frequently reported
3–6 months Also reported
6–12 months or more Reported less often

What customer support options does Aerospike provide, and how do users find the overall support experience?

Aerospike provides support through email/help desk, phone, and chat, with 24/7 live-rep support. The support experience is described as responsive and knowledgeable, including help with setup and data modeling; some users find community resources or documentation less helpful for resolving technical questions.

What is the experience like for teams switching to Aerospike from another tool?

Switching to Aerospike has been driven by the need for better performance, reliability, and scalability as existing databases or caches reached their limits. The transition is described as manageable in some cases, though data-model changes and migration planning can take work.
  • Prior database platforms: MongoDB, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Couchbase, and other NoSQL databases.
  • Prior caches and managed services: Redis, Memcached, and DynamoDB.
  • What changed: Users describe faster reads and writes, improved stability at scale, and less operational effort.

What features or capabilities could make Aerospike even more useful?

Aerospike could be more useful with clearer operational visibility and more flexible tools for inspecting and managing data. Users also point to opportunities to make some day-to-day administration and development tasks smoother.
  • Monitoring and administration: Add more detailed health and usage metrics, including clearer cluster and set-level visibility.
  • Querying and data inspection: Make it easier to limit query results and inspect records without relying on external tools.
  • Configuration and operations: Expand the options that can be changed dynamically and simplify common cluster-management tasks.

"Great expandable DB for low latency use cases"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Aerospike?

Aerospike has been one of the most well-behaved technology stacks we use; the amount of thought I give it is actually quite small because it just doesn't break. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Aerospike?

The first time I logged onto an Aerospike node, I was convinced the filesystem had failed. I had yet to learn that the tech uses its drive as a block device rather than a filesystem. It'd be really nice if there was some obvious thing that showed up when you shell onto such a node announcing, loudly, that you shouldn't expect to find the database's data in a file.
