**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nancy L. | Aerodynamics and Structures Lead, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 28, 2022

**What do you like best about Tinkercad?**

Tinkercad is a very simple CAD software. The main benefit to the CAD platform is that it is web-based, so if you need to make a very simple part, you can do it online.

The electronics design tab, though, can be very useful for simple breadboard-level schematics. It is not exactly Eagle, or even Fritzing, but it is much simpler and has an almost nonexistant learning curve. It has a fairly substantial library of parts, so if you are, for instance, a Mechanical Engineer doing a project involving simple electronics, like using a microcontroller for a DC motor, this platform might be helpful to plan out your wiring before you build. If you are using Arduino, it also allows you to type your code in and simulate a run to see how the hardware would respond.

**What do you dislike about Tinkercad?**

The CAD in Tinkercad is very simple, and has a lot of limitations. You cannot create circles––only 64-sided polygons. The part creation is strange––you work in 3D the whole time instead of starting with a sketch and extruding. There is also no assembly feature on Tinkercad. So the software is not very useful for professional CAD applications–– it is really only useful for very quickly and simply communicating an idea, sort of the 3D equivalent of back-of-the-napkin drawings.

**What problems is Tinkercad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tinkercad allows users to CAD very quick, simple parts online on any device, which can be useful for communicating design ideas, particularly if you are not at your desktop. It also allows for simulation of simple circuit designs and code in Arduino.

**Reviewed Date:** April 03, 2022

**What do you like best about Tinkercad?**

Arduino module, they have made it the best simulator I can find which requires no setup, is free to use and even has an animation for specific Arduino modules. It also has pre-made modules for Arduino and even a code editor with a debugger. You can share the design and even pick one from the open-source community. You can label your circuit and its components and even if you don't know coding you can use blocks mode and simulate your hardware. It also has a serial monitor will helps a lot. You can also get a schematic view.
It also has 3D modelling which is also free and easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Tinkercad?**

Limited availability of hardware modules to be added to Arduino. Errors in showing compilation errors location. Some basic modules can be added in raw component form like along with Arduino they can add an Atmega328p microcontroller, it is the same as Arduino, just some missing components like clock and capacitors. PCB design can also be added with an option to print it. Also, it would be great if we can add some 3d models with circuits and enhance our presentation.

**What problems is Tinkercad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have made many circuits with Tinkercad, which were useful for my major minor project along with it is a great platform for prototyping a circuit before making it in physical form. I have conducted workshops where I taught Arduino to many students, so I used Tinkercad for easy learning and to include everyone in a practical experience where one doesn't have one physical Arduino.

  ### 26. TinkerCAD- A great tool for designing circuits online

  ### 28. Tinkercad is a great software for 3D modeling

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Damaris C. | Secondary Teacher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2021

**What do you like best about Tinkercad?**

Tinkercad is a very complete web-based software for 3D modeling. It is super easy to use and understand, and you can create very complex 3D shapes by combining basic shapes.
I also like all the different shape generators that let you create complex geometries by just changing parameters. At first view, it seems like it is software just for kids, but if you try it, you will find that it is a powerful software to 3D model.

**What do you dislike about Tinkercad?**

It is hard to find something that I don't like about Tinkercad, but what I would like it to have is that it could be awesome if it lets you change the accurate dimensions of a shape when you have rotated. Currently, it allows you to change the dimensions after you have rotated a shape, but no longer allows you to modify the size of the original width or height, instead of that the measurements it presents are those of the entire object in space and is difficult when you have to modify something accurately, and it is already rotated.

**Recommendations to others considering Tinkercad:**

Tinkercad is a great software for 3D modeling, even if you do not have prior experience.

**What problems is Tinkercad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am a digital fabrication teacher, and one of my subject's topics is 3D printing. Getting students to design their own 3D objects without prior experience is easier using Tinkercad than other software.
Tinkercad is free, and as a teacher, I can create classes to have access to my students' files to review and grade. Also, I have access to various lessons and projects that I can assign to my students to practice.

**What do you like best about Tinkercad?**

Tinkedcad is very easy to use and has many prebuilt objects you can add to your design like spheres, cubes, cones etc. It's a good introduction to 3D design and uses the same constructs and thought processes to design that Fusion360 uses.

**What do you dislike about Tinkercad?**

It can be simplistic, and it may not always do things in the way you want. You have to work within the constraints.

**Recommendations to others considering Tinkercad:**

If you want a simple, easy to use introduction to 3D design, this may be for you

**What problems is Tinkercad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tinkercad is an easy way to build 3D objects that can be exported to most popular formats for 3D printing.and direct to various ojnline services

  ### 32. This program is by far the best into to CAD software on the market today.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Tinkercad?**

It makes CAD accessible to anyone who played with lego's as a kid, even current kids.

**What do you dislike about Tinkercad?**

It is a little clunky. Sometimes you need to do certain things in a round-about way that is a little less intuitive.

**What problems is Tinkercad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Some CAD software has too many features and options that just muddy the inventing water too much. There are too many formats for models that often do not mesh well across all programs. Modifications to existing models is SO easy in Tinkercad.

  ### 33. Easiest tool you can imagine

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alexander I. | IT solutions manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 06, 2020

**What do you like best about Tinkercad?**

Ease of use, flexibility, accessibility (available from the web browser), adjustable to a different level of users' expertise in CAD design.

**What do you dislike about Tinkercad?**

1) Only Arduino Uno is supported
2) There is no way you can add custom components or import them from somewhere. Although, the basic set of electric components is enough for most of the projects.
3) It would be great to have a generator of the schematic circuit.
4) For the 3D editor, it would be great to add construction/assembly joints.
5) the size of the canvas is limited for 3D printers. Which means you won't be able to design a real size construction project for your home. But there are other software in the market that can do this task.

**Recommendations to others considering Tinkercad:**

If you're looking for simple and easy-to-use software for educational purposes, give Tinkercad a try. It has everything you need to start with modeling and CAD design. New features like Codeblocks give you even more room to grow.

**What problems is Tinkercad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This tool is perfect for students in educational institutions as well as hobbyists. I created numerous 3D models for 3D printing and always prepared my lab manuals with the circuit designed in Tinkercad because it is visually appealing and easy to do.
A huge benefit is that Tinkercad is available from anywhere with any computer because it is browser-based and CPU-optimized.

  ### 34. Simple Design Program

**Reviewed by:** Ashley M. | Public Outreach Coordinator and Digital Curator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2020

**What do you like best about Tinkercad?**

It's easy to import, modify, and export .STL models. It's also easy to create basic models from scratch.

**What do you dislike about Tinkercad?**

Very basic functionality, you can create simple models but nothing elaborate. There are also size restrictions on what you can import, which may be limiting.

**Recommendations to others considering Tinkercad:**

This is a great product for simple design and modifications.

**What problems is Tinkercad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Tinkercad to create promotional models for my organization, add labels to .STL models, and add logos to 3D printed products. The program allows you to import models you already have or create them from scratch. The functions are basic but easy to navigate and use.

  ### 35. A great tool for those learning about 3D printing

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rich M. | Senior ITS / Communications Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 01, 2020

**What do you like best about Tinkercad?**

The basic tutorials help you get started quickly. I like the way that I'm able to hop from one computer to the next and see my latest designs immediately, since it is completely cloud based. The fact that you can log in from any browser means I have even been able to design while sitting on the train using my Android tablet... it's possible but preferable to use a mouse.
It's amazing what you can build up with simple blocks, I saw a design for a kids bicycle "exhaust", which I ended up designing from scratch and it works quite well (if only I could get my kids onto the bike!).

**What do you dislike about Tinkercad?**

After a while I became a little frustrated because I thought I'd found the limits of the software quite quickly, however, after finding some more training (on LinkedIn training) I was able become much more efficient and get further.
The "sculpting" side of things I still find difficult, this time I think it is down to software limitations.
There is a limit on the file size that you can import into TinkerCAD, this can be frustrating when you find exactly what you need but can't customise it because the file is too big.

**Recommendations to others considering Tinkercad:**

Note the questions in this review are geared towards using professional software in industry. I use TinkerCAD to help me understand 3D design better and to make user of my 3D printer. Although this is mainly for personal use, I am also considering ways of using it for work.

**What problems is Tinkercad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I tried to edit a scan of a hand to move the finger positions, but it was easier to just get another scan. I have been able to download models from Thingiverse and edit them. For example I downloaded a model of the "Descendants" apple and then edited it so it would print easier and added a hole for a tea light.

  ### 39. Great CAD program!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 06, 2021

**What do you like best about Tinkercad?**

This program/app is so easy to use! Having used CAD programs in the past, this one was much more "simple" to understand and catch on to but still had advanced features.

**What do you dislike about Tinkercad?**

I honestly haven't found anything that I disliked. Maybe there could be an easier way to share work and/or download a picture (like a screenshot) of the current work, but other than that, neither I nor my students had any strong dislikes.

**What problems is Tinkercad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used CAD for 2 and 3 dimensional work. It brought math projects "to life" as well as taught them great skills in design. It took their visualizations to life.

  ### 40. An easy to use CAD application for basic model creation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2021

**What do you like best about Tinkercad?**

The software is very easy to use and allows you to create your own models using basic shapes.

**What do you dislike about Tinkercad?**

At times the simplification can cause an issue. So-called "power users" may feel the options lacking as compared to other pieces of software.

**What problems is Tinkercad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Tinkercad at the secondary school level with students. They have used it to create a number of models for 3D printing or just to create virtual images that we take screenshots of.

  ### 41. Let Tinkercad do your designing.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** PRABHNOOR K. | Member, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 17, 2021

**What do you like best about Tinkercad?**

As a student and current user of Tinkercad, I found it easy to make drawings and code. I designed a mangonel project. It gives knowledge about the working of abundant components. It has been helpful to me in providing the components and making 3D designs on a laptop screen when you can't afford these components in real life.

**What do you dislike about Tinkercad?**

Tinkercad is designed for the education industry, but it can't be used without the internet.
It has limited capabilities. It is difficult to zoom in or out. I prefer Tinkercad to beginners or students only. I think Tinkercad can provide option to give small information about the component.

**What problems is Tinkercad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using it for making a buggy currently. I am not a professional user of Tinkercad. As a student, it has proved to be quite easy while making designs. Designing the model takes very little time when you know to use it. It requires no prerequisites to use it.

  ### 42. Easier online and free software to design your 3D models

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Murilo A. | Support Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Tinkercad?**

If you are starting on 3D modelling, Tinkercad is definitely the tool that you need to start using it. It is online (web based app), free, quite easy to use and you also can find many videos tutorials explaining how to modelling 3D objects using this tool on Youtube.

**What do you dislike about Tinkercad?**

If your models grow in complexity and you need more precision and more details, like precision measurement tools, 2D to 3D views, then you will probably need to migrate to a more advanced tool.

**What problems is Tinkercad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I found on Tinkercad the start point to learn how to create my own 3D models. Before that I was using and print in my 3D printer, only already defined and available models that we can find for instance on Thingiverse.com
But now, using TinkerCad, I can produce myself my own objects.

  ### 43. Simple to use, freely available. But can be better!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Arka M. | Student, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Tinkercad?**

Simple to you. Also freely available. Doesn't require a lot of time to learn to use. Also, the custom models are quite useful.

**What do you dislike about Tinkercad?**

The scrolling and the viewing is a bit challenging. Especially when trying to visualize the 3D structures from from a lateral direction. Also, while making complex structures, the visibility of the separateness of the individual models (model margins) becomes difficult. Hence, leads to inaccuracy in construction and additional investment of time.

**What problems is Tinkercad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was constructing a 3D holder for a flexible PCB, as part of a student assistant job at my University. The main benefit was it didn't require a lot of time to learn to use the application. Hence it was user-friendly in terms of learnability.

  ### 44. Very easy and fun to use and pretty powerful, until you hit some annoying (and arbitrary) limits.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andreas E. | Project manager and chief scientist for Machine Translation, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2021

**What do you like best about Tinkercad?**

I am entirely new to 3d-printing and -modeling, and Tinkercad is precisely the tool I was looking for: No installation required, intuitive user interface, easy to find helpful hints on youtube, and pretty powerful. So after a very short time, I felt I have a lot of power to turn my ideas into working designs.

**What do you dislike about Tinkercad?**

Shape generators could be highly potent tools, but why do they contain so many arbitrary and unmotivated limitations? And once you try to work around these limitations, you find that support for shape generators has been discontinued, and there does not seem to be any usable replacement for them. What a pity...

**What problems is Tinkercad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I want to design 3d models for my newly acquired 3d printer.

  ### 45. Incredibly useful educational resource

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 13, 2021

**What do you like best about Tinkercad?**

Very scientifically accurate, can be used to prototype designs and test ideas with the wide range of components available. Very easy to use and the example circuits can be easily modified ie. LCD screen can then be modified to include other components. Really useful being able to build programs in it too and to test arduino code within the program. Allowed me to learn and understand arduino and electronics on a deeper level through seeing it modelled as in real life.

**What do you dislike about Tinkercad?**

Some components are missing and there isn't an easy option to create a new component. Would be really useful also if it could allow downloads of a PCB design or integrate with a software like fritzing for the electronics. Could also explain how to wire components better or provide a user guide as some parts like the mosfet and transistor required external research to figure out how to use.

**Recommendations to others considering Tinkercad:**

Fantastic software, perfect for electronics modelling and learning to code. Allowed me to develop an understanding of arduino without worrying about the errors that might have occurred in real life.

I would advide others to use this to develop a greater understanding.

**What problems is Tinkercad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Electronics / circuits works involving a capacitor / mosfet / microprocessor / leds and motors. Really useful and easy to build up a circuit and incorporate new components like the LCD screen. Modelled a control system and built and tested code in a simulated environment without the circuitry errors that can occur in real life. Haven't explored the 3D design side yet but keen to explore this further.

  ### 46. Handy Basic 3D Modeling Software

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** JJ O. | Systems Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2020

**What do you like best about Tinkercad?**

As someone who is new to 3D modeling, Tinkercad is a helpful introduction. Its interface is simple enough that a child could use it, but I'm still able to create basic models for my 3D printer.

**What do you dislike about Tinkercad?**

The biggest downside to Tinkercad is that you quickly outgrow it. While it's fun to make basic models for my 3D printer, I wouldn't rely on Tinkercad professionally for anything more complicated than a project box. However, if you are looking to create a 3D model quickly without any prior modeling experience, this software comes in handy.

**What problems is Tinkercad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used Tinkercad primarily as in introduction to 3D modeling. The ability to create custom enclosures, project boxes, and other plastic parts is useful in some of my freelance electronics projects. I used Tinkercad to take my first steps towards learning how to do this.

  ### 47. Simplistic, but fast and highly effective!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ben M. | Head of Development Technologies, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2020

**What do you like best about Tinkercad?**

TInkercad is incredibly easy to learn and use. Myself, as well as several friends of mine, were able to go from no knowledge of the software to using it effectively for 3d printing simple parts in under an hour, which I can't say about any other 3d printing/slicing software I've used so far.

Aside from how simple it is to learn, it's extremely quick to throw new prototypes together, and that's what it works best for. When you need something made up of simple shapes, and ideally that doesn't have to be professional quality or made to absolute perfection, there is nothing simpler than Tinkercad.

**What do you dislike about Tinkercad?**

Tinkercad's simplicity also means it can't do everything well. It's best for simple prototyping or testing or combining simple shapes. If you're creating something complex requiring a lot of effort in designing and slicing, you would be better off using software that has more features (even though it also means a steeper learning curve).

**What problems is Tinkercad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm using it for rapid prototyping and testing of things with my 3d printer. When I need to put something relatively simple together and test it out, I usually reach for Tinkercad over something more complex. The main benefits of this approach are that it's so much quicker and easier to use.

  ### 48. Brilliant introduction to 3D design, great for kids and adults!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adeline G. | Director Of Marketing And Business Development, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2020

**What do you like best about Tinkercad?**

I've been using this software with my son (age 10) for the last six months. The GUI is incredibly easy to use and there is loads of support via the help. I like the use of colour to enable you to differentiate between different shapes, and also lack of shape (ie a hole through a design).

We loved the lessons which enabled us to get to grips with the concept of designing in 3D as well as giving us ideas for other creations. It's fun to use and so makes something that could be a chore, a pleasure instead.

**What do you dislike about Tinkercad?**

I haven't found a way to rip a design directly to my printer, we have to use a third party software to do so. Otherwise I find it a great tool. I recommend accessing 'thingverse' for a catalogue of other people's uploaded designs which you can then use and adapt within TinkerCAD.

**Recommendations to others considering Tinkercad:**

Great for young people, not so sure about using it in the workplace.

**What problems is Tinkercad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have been able to quickly and easily make replacement parts as well as scale models of new concepts. It is an incredibly easy-to-use tool which means design to final concept is very quick.

We have produced complete chess sets, minecraft figures, guitar plectrums and are now working on a gumshield!

  ### 49. Tinkercad is a basic, easy to use program that can be effective when wanting to 3-d print.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Grayson H. | Google Forms Review, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2020

**What do you like best about Tinkercad?**

I really enjoy the easy to use interface. It makes it so people without any prior experience and beginner students can do what they want and design things they never thought they could before. I was able to teach my younger brother, someone with zero background in virtual design, how to use this program within minutes of showing it to him.

**What do you dislike about Tinkercad?**

I am not a huge fan of how limiting it can be. There are few things that I cannot design, but those few things can sometimes be frustrating without.

**What problems is Tinkercad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am able to 3-D print with ease and I really enjoy the many ways to make something in your imagination come to life. I have struggled with using CAD based programs in the past and I felt as though this program made it so I can design things without prior experience.

  ### 50. Easy to use and accessible

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Afrah K. | Student, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 11, 2021

**What do you like best about Tinkercad?**

The fact that it is very easy to use, especially for younger people. The aurdino components are really helpful for learning about the circuits

**What do you dislike about Tinkercad?**

The lagging, with slower internet connections, TinkerCAD seems to lag alot, therefore losing the unpaved or unloaded work.

**Recommendations to others considering Tinkercad:**

Creativity is needed to use the components in the right place since tinkercad can be too simple at times

**What problems is Tinkercad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm creating prototypes for various things through 3D printing
