  ### 3. Middle School STEM

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Charlie B. | Teacher, Education Management, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 29, 2017

**What do you like best about Tinkercad?**

Tinkercad is very easy to use for my middle school students. Since they are just beginning CAD, this is a perfect product for them to get used to how CAD works. The tutorial is especially helpful for my students.

**What do you dislike about Tinkercad?**

There are some limitations as to what my students can create. Since this program uses geometric shapes, it can be difficult for the students to get too creative as they cannot draw what they want to make. They have to figure out how to make it using the provided shapes.

**What problems is Tinkercad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As an educator, the main problem I am solving is how to get my students to think more like engineers and designers. By utilizing this software, I am able to much more efficiently teach how CAD software is used outside of education.

  ### 4. Does what it ought, a good intro

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

Easy to understand the UI, very simple and useful for teaching beginners the basics of 3d modeling.

**What do you dislike about Tinkercad?**

somewhat limited in terms of what you can do. some functions are not as intuitive as they are in sketchup. it can be difficult to locate certain shapes/functions and there is not always a good way to create the shape you would like.

**Recommendations to others considering Tinkercad:**

Try it out, if you enjoy it, consider switching to Sketchup after you have the basics down.

**What problems is Tinkercad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we're designing 3d models to print out using our 3d printer. kids like bringing their designs to life.

  ### 5. Great for students learning 3D Design

Tinkercad is a great drag and drop program that allows my students to learn the introduction to 3D design. I enjoy being able to monitor their accounts and jump on their projects from my end of the software as their teacher.

**What do you dislike about Tinkercad?**

I wish the shapes were more adjustable like shapes are on programs such as Photoshop or Pixelmator.

**What problems is Tinkercad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tinkercad is great for the elementary student for 3D Design. After using this program, they will move onto SketchUp in the middle school. The drag and drop features make it very kid friendly.

  ### 6. TinkerCAD the easy AutoCAD

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Valentin B. | Physics Tutor, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2017

**What do you like best about Tinkercad?**

ThinkerCAD is the easy AutoCAD. Sometimes you want to design something simple and you do not want to use the AutoCAD for this. AutoCAD is very complicated, you have to wait for hours to install it, and to learn it is very difficult.
With ThinkerCAD all this is easy. You can design an object that you want in no time. When you start with ThinkerCAD you have some lessons to learn to design the simplest objects. In 15 minutes you learn everything that one needs to start. For example with ThinkerCAD you can design in 5 minutes a pretty complicated shape, and in 1-2 hours an entire car. With AutoCAD this would have taken hours and hours of work.

**What do you dislike about Tinkercad?**

I dislike that when you try to design certain parts, it is very difficult to follow the dimensions. ThinkerCAD is easy AutoCAD and because of this some of its features are not very precise. This is the worst part of ThinkerCAD, it is not very precise, although it is fast and easy to learn. In a way is like a having a bycicle instead of a car.

**Recommendations to others considering Tinkercad:**

I recommend ThinkerCAD to all people. ThinkerCAD is very easy to learn. If you have something simple to do, use ThinkerCAD instead of AutoCAD, it is easier and faster.

**What problems is Tinkercad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was participating in some design contests at Desall. I never won something with my ThinkerCad drawings but I gained sufficient experience to tell you about ThinkerCAD.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 02, 2017

**What do you like best about Tinkercad?**

It's all in the browser. TinkerCAD is a very simple to use CAD software, and provides downloadable STL files suitable for a 3D printing slicer software. TinkerCAD on the web + Cura on your local machine is a great path to 3d printing for beginners. The interface is very straightforward, and the tutorials are just enough to get you going.

**What do you dislike about Tinkercad?**

TinkerCAD does things its own, simple way, that doesn't translate to other more advanced CAD packages for me. That is, it is a great tool for beginners, but it is not a suitable first step towards AutoCAD or SolidWorks.

**Recommendations to others considering Tinkercad:**

It's free, just try it - start with the first demo video to get the basics, then try your own designs. I would say if you intend to eventually move to a more traditional CAD package, then you might try OnShape instead - the learning curve looks steeper but I think the skills will translate better.

**What problems is Tinkercad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TinkerCAD was by far the easiest way to get going with 3D printing. I designed a few cool models in it very quickly, and would use it again if I needed to do some more design.

  ### 14. Great for an online tool, but held a few bugs and difficulties.
