**What do you like best about Prey?**

The interface is very clean and intuitive from the first moment. As for inventory management and security, it meets all the necessary requirements without complications. But what truly makes the difference is the human team behind it: the support is excellent and, when you suggest a meaningful improvement, they really listen to you and end up implementing it in future updates.

I have nothing negative to point out; with the provider, all the issues raised have been resolved satisfactorily.

Tracking an asset location;  From a security point these features such as track, lock, wipe and disable an asset are essential with mobile devices.

**What do you dislike about Prey?**

The interface is good, but it could be better.

We had an issue with tracking assets, and sometimes devices being stolen or not returned when an employee leaves.  We also do a loaner program on assets, and we really like the feature of setting up an auto lock on the device when the asset is supposed to be turned back in.

One drawback of PreyProject is that its recovery and tracking tools only work once the lost device connects to the internet. Until then, the system can’t update the device’s location or send commands, which can cause delays if the thief keeps the device offline.

**What problems is Prey solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PreyProject has been incredibly useful for me in situations where I needed to secure my devices quickly. I’ve been able to remotely lock a computer that was reported lost, as well as lock down a device that shouldn’t have been accessed in the first place. Having that level of control gave me peace of mind knowing that my data stayed protected.

**What do you like best about Prey?**

Search capabilities have significantly improved since 2020, enabling us to efficiently locate a device or the individual assigned to it. Additionally, I appreciate the feature that allows us to assign tags to a group of devices based on department or other relevant criteria.

**What do you dislike about Prey?**

The only potential concern to note is that improvements are most evident when a device is not receiving Prey updates. This situation can complicate matters, as the device may no longer be communicating with Prey servers. Consequently, it becomes more challenging for us to locate or lock a specific device when needed.

**What problems is Prey solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As previously noted, the Prey update software does not reach all devices. However, I have observed some improvements. Regrettably, I am uncertain whether these devices are recoverable. Additionally, human error on our part may have contributed if procedures were not followed thoroughly.

One thing I dislike about Prey is that its tracking features depend heavily on an active internet connection, which makes it difficult to locate a device when it is offline. 

The setup process can also be a bit complicated for new users, and continuous tracking may raise privacy concerns among staff members.

Prey helps solve the problem of lost or stolen organizational devices by providing real-time tracking, remote locking, and location alerts through a centralized dashboard. It protects sensitive data, ensures accountability, and supports efficient asset management across multiple users. For me and my organization, it provides quick recovery of missing phones, safeguards confidential information, reduces replacement costs, and gives peace of mind knowing all devices are secure and accounted for.

Prey gave us tracking devices going out the network and monitoring them. We been almost 10 years using preyproject. It never let us down. Happy customer since then. We use ours in Education K-12

We may use Intune, yet adding location services on that, it takes forever by the time the device is located. With Prey, it is instantly and we also get the history of past check-in. We have recovered "lost" devices with Prey

Only little irk is the portal. Wish it could show more devices. Not a game changer though.

Recovering devices! Had a user that stated he turned it in. Showing him his picture of him using it, what he was doing and at his home address. We got that back real fast

**What do you like best about Prey?**

I was traveling abroad with my laptop and was concerned about tracking it if it got stolen. I thought the software would be complicated and costly, but Prey was simple to set up, easy to use, and very affordable. I spoke with a representative over the phone about my needs; they didn't try to upsell me at all. They recommended the subscription I needed - the most affordable one - and were incredibly helpful.

I honestly can't think of any. There's a lot of features on Prey and I only use the most basic ones though

As a 1 man shop for a company thatś WFA across several countries it has helped me and our organization to keep track and secure our devices and information with little asistance from our users.
Being able to provide unattended installers has been a huge plus.

Being able to keep track of our devices is critical.  Example: I was able to retrieve a phone left on a pharmacy counter in Hong Kong.. before we left the city.

The update process is cumbersome.. one has to go to their website and manually download new versions and install for each device.

There are a number of things to like about Prey.  
Ease of use
Intuitive interface
Email alerts
Attractive pricing

I've used Prey professionally and personally for a number of years and have never been disappointed.  I've used it to recover company assets or as evidence of wrongdoing.  I've used it to monitor whereabouts of drivers.  I've used it to recover my daughter's stolen laptop.

**What do you dislike about Prey?**

I've used Prey for a number of years and I honestly do not have a downside.  I've never had trouble using the program; it's always been rock solid in performance.

**What problems is Prey solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a maintenance garage which services our truck fleet.  Due to the diagnostic software requirements, the laptops could not be placed onto our domain to be monitored.  I installed an instance of Prey on each one.  Only one laptop went missing and was quickly discovered at one of the techs home.  Now everyone knows the devices are being "tracked".

**What do you like best about Prey?**

I've used Prey to successfully recover lost and stolen equipment on two instances. 

A former employee falsely claimed to have returned his company laptop.  We were able to geolocate it to his home and send him timestamped photos of him still using it in his living room.   He was told to bring it over within the hour or hand it to the police when they arrived.  He wisely chose to return it.  

In a second instance, an employee returned home from an extended business trip to find her laptop missing.   We were able to place its last location in an airport terminal, and she remembered using it at a cafe while waiting for a flight.   And fortunately had a credit card receipt with the name of the cafe.  We reached out to the manager, who had the laptop and promised to hold it for her.   When the employee returned to that city a few weeks later, she was able to retrieve the laptop, and was delighted to have it back.

In both cases, this was extremely easy to do.   I use Prey myself and recommend it for my business clients.  (I'm an IT consultant)

I don't think this is Prey's fault, but the accuracy of the geolocation information is highly variable.   Sometimes its spot on, but in some cases, its thrown off by bad info from the ISP, or perhaps misinterpreted due to the use of a VPN

**What problems is Prey solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps is locate and recovery missing/lost/stolen equipment, and if necessary remotely erase sensitive information from devices that cannot be recovered.

**What do you like best about Prey?**

Quick to setup and easy to use. Makes my employees feel like they can take the devices home and if something happens we can recover it quickly. It adds a level of security that just lets me sleep at night. I get notifications all the time from google about strange logins (we do a lot on vpns and people go on vacation/visit friends etc) it's nice to cross reference it with the gear and know that someone is indeed logging in and I can ask my employees if everything is ok.

**What do you dislike about Prey?**

Sometimes it's not the best when I reformat systems. Sometimes we give systems to interns / lend out to developers and for some reason or another we need to format the systems. When we do that the mac address is still in there but it kinda freaks out the system. So I have to add the new one then delete the old one and it takes time to update. ALSO I would LOVE to have a linux version for our servers. We have some that we lend to show, shoots, or go on lease for clients and I want to be able to put prey on so I can control what they do / and take the equiptment. It would also be nice to have a team breakdown. For example our dev phones pretty much stay in office so if I could fence them it would be good and the same with our current windows servers at the datacenter. If they move I need to know like NOW.

Security in a ton of different ways, everything from asset recovery to data security. It's nice to know if a device goes rogue I can just wipe it and let the police recover them later. Our IP is worth worlds more than a phone or laptop.

**What do you like best about Prey?**

I love the ability to track our devices. We have users in a couple different states that I can't manage in person. Having Prey installed on them helps me know that they are safe should they be stolen.

**What do you dislike about Prey?**

Honestly the only complaint I have is that the installation and uninstall process bugs out sometimes and fails. Or the software fails to update and gets disconnected from the servers (Very rare and possbly limited to our environment). Not a big deal as I have other management software to resolve it but I would like it to be a little more stable in that regard.

**What problems is Prey solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is keeping track of our devices physical location and allows me to lock them down or wipe them if needed. The ability to mark the device missing and get constant reports when it is onlline is very helpful in determining what I need to do next.

**What do you like best about Prey?**

The ease of use and security of this software is excellent. We were able to track down a tablet that was accidentally left at an airport. It really helps with our travelling sales team to be able to find lost items. Fortunately, we have not had to track a stolen device down but it really is comprehensive.

I don't really have anything negative to say about prey. They have done wonders for our company and the customer support is great. It was really easy to integrate our mobile devices to prey and so easy to implement. This was a solution of necessity and we use it frequently.

I like that Prey simply works. Simple little install and then I can see all my devices in the dashboard. None of the long installers with a bunch of questions. I like that the support team is responsive.

**What do you dislike about Prey?**

My only real complaint so far is the billing. If monthly billing were available then I'd be a happy camper.

**What problems is Prey solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have about 30 company laptops that get loaned out to the team and there was a time when someone left the company and took the laptop with them. Unfortunately even with an agreement in place, the company did not want to spend additional time and money to recover the laptop. I started putting Prey on all the laptops so I can see where they are on a map and even remote lock the device. It's a nice peace of mind.

The ability to locate IT assets in a multi-platform envireonment as we have Apple and Windows assets. And the ability to lock a device if it becomes lost, stolen or the individual says they can't bring the assets back.

**What do you dislike about Prey?**

It does not have a remote desktop function. It would be great if it had a feature similar to TeamViewer so you had all functionality in one platform.

**What problems is Prey solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Items go missing every year and we now have the ability to track monthly to ensure whern annual inventory arrives where the item has been the past year. And where it may currently reside in the building or in the wild.

**What do you like best about Prey?**

The most likely is the easy of use, with automated installers, but above all, the fantastic after sales contact. A human team involved to solve a little issue who has been contacting me daily to help and finally resolve the problem. 
Also the commercial dept has adapted its rates to our company users. I only have to mail to Valentia asking for a new license and she activates it instantly.

some of the new features are not implemented fully tested. Interface has changed recently and is not friendly as the old one.

Prey allows us to know what is happening with our mobile devices in one web interface - and find the when we need to.  The cost is great for a small company like ours.

**What do you dislike about Prey?**

Because it is a software layer, it is possible to bypass it if someone knows it is there, and knows what to do.  But it isn't easy, and we still know when/where it happens.

**What problems is Prey solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps us track the locations of the equipment quickly and easily at a low cost per device.  It gives us the additional benefit of knowing that our data is safe with the device wipe feature.

With their recent introduction of an MSP dashboard, it makes it very easy to deploy for multiple customers.  Managing each client is a breeze, and the software works exactly as expected.

**What do you dislike about Prey?**

This product by nature can cause false-positives in your deployed AV/EDR solution (particularly EDR).

The best feature is the ability to "factory reset" a Windows PC.  I have never been able to initiate the process for a client remotely before finding Prey.  So far, it has worked flawlessly, making my job so much easier!

If I have to nitpick the product, I did experience a bit of a learning curve on the user interface.  However, this is to be expected and was quickly overcome with practice.

It is the most accessible stand-alone product for managing and tracking a device and its data.  It provides an entry-level option for clients that do not have products that include some of these features in a larger package.  This minimizes per device cost for these clients.

It would be good to have an archive area, for devices that have been removed from the account, with basic information like dates and device name.

Also, the dates need to be fixed on your portal.  I see things like 3nd April (should be 3rd), or 4st of March (should be 4th).

It is helping us to keep track of devices, and lock them with messages to get them returned to us,  the percentage of returns has increased using this platform.

Installation is quick and easy, agent does not hog resources or interfere with the device.  Very discreet.  Alerts and warnings have saved us from losing a few laptops.  Great value for money.

Had a couple of incidents where the geo location was off or ineffective.  I would like it if  adding and removing licenses was an easier process and could be done directly from the portal.

Protect your mobile devices with Prey, it will help you control your inventory and is a fantastic loss prevention solution.  Works silently in the background, users don't even know it is there until they need to.

Asset management, loss prevention, inventory control, onboarding and offboarding.  It is a great complement to our IT management suite.  Very affordable compared to other similar solutions.

The granular control prey offers for remote assets is incredible. The ability to locate, lock, recover or wipe a protected device brings some peace of mind in such a climate. The increase of remote users due to the pandemic has tested every industry. With Prey, security of our loaned / remote devices brings certainty in uncertain times.

This is a tough question as I have not experienced a situation that I have found Prey to be lacking in. Their support is phenomenal, Fabián Núñez responds quickly to every inquiry I have made within an hour. This blew me away as my questions have always been made via email.

**Recommendations to others considering Prey:**

If you do not have mobile device management or are considering a platform, Prey is the right choice. The management console is well thought out and easy to use. Installation can be scripted and automated quickly in a windows environment.

Prey helps to protect are mobile assets not just from theft but also insider threats associated with users. Protecting data and current configuration of the system from user interaction/intervention is a featured we utilizes in the event an employee leaves the company. We are able to lock the device as soon as we are notified of such a situation.

We had a scenario that needed to find a device and as soon as it came online I was notified even after being missing from months!

**What do you like best about Prey?**

Prey is intuitive, easy to use and easy to install. We use Prey on our firm's devices, especially laptops. This is because we tend to go on numerous external assignments and considering the nature of our work where too much confidential information is involved it is our duty to secure our devices such that in the event that they are stolen we can easily track them, this is where Prey has been really handy. With Prey we are able to know the exact location of our devices and if they are compromised we can delete all the files remotely.

We haven't found anything to complain about. Prey has met our requirements and it has been very useful.

I recommend Prey because it is a simple tracking tool yet packed with powerful features. It also runs in the background making it unnoticeable and it doesn't use much power.
