## Highcharts Reviews
  ### 1. Highcharts: Versatile and Customizable Data Visualization Tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jon W. | Founder and CEO, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2022

**What do you like best about Highcharts?**

I like Highcharts because it offers a variety of customization options. You can choose different styles and settings, like colors, dates, and times. It's useful because it matches the branding of a company, especially when using other tools like Excel, and it makes life easier by allowing those set colors to be transferred. The combination of settings gives me a range of options to work with.

**What do you dislike about Highcharts?**

There is some part of the software that I would like documented to be easier or more flexible. The setup wasn't too easy or difficult, but I had to follow the instructions closely to get it done in the end.

**What problems is Highcharts solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Highcharts shows the analysis customers want to see, making information accessible and understandable.

  ### 2. Highcharts: The Ultimate Blend of Performance, Usability, and Beauty

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paulo Chagas de C. | Desenvolvedor de software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Highcharts?**

What I like most about Highcharts, besides the immense quantity of charts, tables, and other tools, is the dynamism—the adaptability it provides for the developer and user. It's the interaction it possesses, from the click to the data analysis, bringing more performance and understanding... besides being very beautiful.

Adding to that, its easy setup and manipulation stand out, making it simple to integrate into any project. The library offers fast rendering speed, ensuring a smooth experience even with large datasets. Plus, its adaptability across different screen sizes (responsiveness) means the visualizations look and function perfectly on any device. I also note that it is frequently used, and I see many companies utilizing it, which further validates its quality and reliability.

**What do you dislike about Highcharts?**

I really like it, and I don't see anything I dislike.

**What problems is Highcharts solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Highcharts is a robust and complete data visualization solution that excels due to its dynamism and superb adaptability, providing both developers and users with a seamless interaction from click to data analysis, which dramatically increases performance and understanding. Besides being aesthetically beautiful, its ease of setup, simple integration into any project, and remarkably fast rendering speed ensure a smooth experience even with large datasets. This, combined with its perfect responsiveness across all screen sizes and its frequent use by many famous systems, solidifies Highcharts as a top-tier, reliable, and powerful library for creating high-quality charts, tables, and dashboards in any application.

  ### 3. Highcharts Student Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sindre S. | Student, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 11, 2025

**What do you like best about Highcharts?**

As a university student working on data visualization projects, I found Highcharts to be a really useful library for creating interactive charts. It’s easy to set up with basic JavaScript knowledge, and the documentation is thorough with lots of examples. I especially liked how customizable the charts are—you can adjust almost everything from colors to tooltips, which makes the visualizations look professional.

For my coursework, I used it to create a dashboard that displayed survey results, and the interactivity (like hovering over data points and filtering series) really impressed my classmates. Compared to manually coding charts with just HTML/CSS, Highcharts saved me a lot of time.

**What do you dislike about Highcharts?**

The only drawback is that the licensing can be a bit confusing for students—though they do allow free use for non-commercial projects, which is great. Also, some advanced features require digging deeper into the API, which can feel overwhelming at first.

**What problems is Highcharts solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me show data in a good way. Easy to understand and easy to implement

  ### 4. Highcharts is very useful

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vimal P. | Desktop Support Engineer, Financial Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2025

**What do you like best about Highcharts?**

- Ease of Use
Highcharts is incredibly intuitive. You can get a basic chart up and running with just a few lines of code, and the documentation is thorough and beginner-friendly.
- Wide Range of Chart Types
From simple line and bar charts to more complex heatmaps, treemaps, and stock charts, Highcharts covers a broad spectrum of visualization needs.
- Interactive Features
Zooming, tooltips, dynamic updates, and drilldowns are built-in and easy to configure. These features make charts more engaging and informative.
- Responsive Design
Charts adapt well to different screen sizes, which is a must for modern web applications.
- Export Options
Users can download charts as PNG, PDF, SVG, or even print them directly. This is great for reports and presentations.
- Accessibility Support
Highcharts includes features to make charts accessible to screen readers and keyboard navigation, which is a big plus for inclusive design.
- Solid Performance
Even with large datasets, Highcharts handles rendering efficiently, especially with its boost module.
- Commercial Support & Licensing
For enterprise use, Highcharts offers professional support and flexible licensing options, which can be reassuring for business-critical applications.

**What do you dislike about Highcharts?**

- Commercial Licensing Costs
Unlike open-source libraries like Chart.js or D3.js, Highcharts requires a paid license for commercial use. This can be a dealbreaker for startups or budget-conscious teams.
- Limited Customization Compared to D3.js
While Highcharts offers a lot of built-in features, it’s not as flexible as D3.js when it comes to creating highly customized or unconventional visualizations.
- Heavy for Simple Use Cases
For basic charts, Highcharts might feel like overkill. The library size and feature set can be more than needed, especially if performance or load time is a concern.
- Learning Curve for Advanced Features
While basic charts are easy to set up, more complex configurations (like dynamic updates, drilldowns, or custom events) can get tricky and require digging into the documentation.
- Dependency on JavaScript
Highcharts is JavaScript-centric. If you're working in environments that prefer declarative charting (like React or Angular), integration can be a bit clunky unless you use wrappers or additional libraries.
- Styling Limitations
Customizing chart aesthetics beyond what's provided in the API sometimes requires workarounds or manual DOM manipulation, which isn't ideal.
- Accessibility Requires Extra Effort
Although Highcharts supports accessibility, making charts truly usable for all users (especially those relying on screen readers) can require additional configuration

**What problems is Highcharts solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Data Communication
It helps bridge the gap between raw data and decision-making by making trends, patterns, and outliers instantly visible.
- Developer Efficiency
Developers can create sophisticated charts with minimal code, saving time and reducing the need for custom rendering logic.
- Cross-Platform Compatibility
Charts work seamlessly across browsers and devices, solving the headache of inconsistent rendering.
- Real-Time Data Updates
Highcharts supports dynamic data loading and live updates, which is essential for dashboards, monitoring tools, and financial apps.
- User Engagement
Interactive features like tooltips, zooming, and drilldowns make charts more engaging and informative, helping users explore data intuitively.
- Export & Sharing
Built-in export options make it easy to share visual insights in reports, presentations, or print formats—no need for external tools.

  ### 7. Great product, but a horrible company

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josh S. | CEO / CISO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2024

**What do you like best about Highcharts?**

Highcharts provides some great data visualization software that we used for many years. It supports a ton of different graphic options and is simple to use.

**What do you dislike about Highcharts?**

Highcharts business model includes both open source and commercial offerings. When negotiating pricing for their commercial offering, we worked with our Sales person to come up with a reasonable price that we could leverage long-term. After several renewals at that price, a new Sales team member came back to us with revised pricing that took us from a support fee of 30% of what we initially paid for the license to a 91.3% support fee. After numerous interactions with the member of the Sales team and their Chief Sales Officer, they were unwilling to budge on our long-contracted terms. Rather than fighting it on a legal front, we opted to completely abandon the software. If you're using it for non-commercial purposes, by all means use Highcharts. But if you ever intend to commercialize the product using it, I'd recommend looking at something else, instead, for your data visualization requirements.

**What problems is Highcharts solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Highcharts provided us with the ability to do data visualization in our product using graphics like pie charts, line charts and bar charts.

It can easily display plotted data. Has a large number of charts that cover pretty much any data set and also has many options for styling and toggling elements within the charts.

  ### 33. Everything is possible with Highcharts

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Attila C. | Angular Developer (Remote Contract), Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2021

**What do you like best about Highcharts?**

Highcharts API is really flexible based on well designed fully customisable settings which can tweak your charts nitty-gritty details. It also supports responsive design, which means you can define screens size specific configurations and Highcharts will take care of how it will look on different devices. It can be integrated with Angular thanks to its official highcharts-angular wrapper. Almost everything can be achieved on a chart, just need to find the right configuration from their API reference. It is fast and can render millions of datapoint. Last but not least it supports lots of extensions like extra chart type or helpers for easier exporting.

**What do you dislike about Highcharts?**

Its API is really big so easy to get lost in details. You need to play a lot sometimes to find the right combination of settings to achieve the the expected outcome.

**What problems is Highcharts solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helpful to visualize any data driven solutions. You can create pragmatically changeable settings like switching chart types or adding more watermark series so user can analyze your data much easier.
Consistent look&feel is one benefit beside the zooming capabilities. Highcharts is a very flexible tool, but you need to think about how to represent your data, so it is good to prepare some prototype visualizations first to agree on the chart type before adding more fine grained customization as all chart type has its own unique settings.

  ### 34. It is very easy to integrate in our code

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Art D. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2022

**What do you like best about Highcharts?**

We use Highcharts and ONLY Highcharts for any of our clients that need visual representation of their data. The development tools are AWESOME and allow us to create stunning line, column and pie charts using real time data. Their support is fantastic too!

**What do you dislike about Highcharts?**

We really don't have any dislikes about their product(s).

**Recommendations to others considering Highcharts:**

If you are searching for comprehensive tools for charting data, you won't find anything better than Highcharts.

**What problems is Highcharts solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest problem we solve with Highcharts is data visualization. When clients see their real-time data represented in a chart it helps them understand their business better.

  ### 38. highcharts rules!!!

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Nanotechnology | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2022

**What do you like best about Highcharts?**

first class coder_friendly documentation

**What do you dislike about Highcharts?**

too many nested options in js... fluff words here

**What problems is Highcharts solving and how is that benefiting you?**

all data problems

  ### 39. Long term user of Highcharts

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Peter F. | Support Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Highcharts?**

The flexibility of the configuration and the ability to move through the structure of the Highcharts object to ad functionality to the chart.

**What do you dislike about Highcharts?**

I feel the general public's exposure to the product is very minimal. Making it known that the license covers personal use by including the library in projects would help. Torstein himself uses it for his weather project.

**Recommendations to others considering Highcharts:**

With all of the charts, there is an excellent base to start from and then customize for your particular situation quickly

**What problems is Highcharts solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have used the library many times within the financial industry for charts and currently in the instrumentation of security products. The adaptability of the library compared to other products is far greater.

  ### 40. Amazingly customizable ... hard to upgrade versions

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Investment Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Highcharts?**

Customizability of the options is unparallel amongst competitors. We deal extensively with monthly data so we built an entire library on top of the existing highstock module. Those settings plus the events make it an incredibly flexible system.

**What do you dislike about Highcharts?**

There aren't many upgrade guides out there, and help on very difficult issues is hard to find. You get codepens etc for ideal kind of scenarios, but not much content if you're going on a tangent in usage.

The documentation for older versions goes away from their portal. This coupled with how hard it is to upgrade a highly customizable system leads to it becoming a legacy system (technical debt) fairly quickly.

**Recommendations to others considering Highcharts:**

Create a wrapper. Don't use highcharts methods directly. This helps isolate the usage and in upgrading. Use functions and custom parameters leading to highchart options .. instead of using highchart options throughout the platform. This might mean a bunch of repetition, but is still better than littering the platform with highchart options which'd be impossible to find when you upgrade.

**What problems is Highcharts solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We deal with financial data, so to be able to view interactive charts is an essential part of our platform. Another major thing we use is the 'export' feature. We have a customized version of highcharts-exports.js script, which can render a chart to a png via command line. We needed several charts for a single report required by the user (30+ on average), which was a problem with both phantomjs command-line, AND the server, having to do it one by one.

The open-sourceness of the script allowed us to modify it so now we can generate in batch with a single command line hit .. yielding great results.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Erez O. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Highcharts?**

many charting options, good documentation

**What do you dislike about Highcharts?**

Desired size of a chart is somehow not trivial to achieve. sometime the size of chart is unexpected and you need to play with settings in order to get to right size that will also be dynamic when the page is zoomed/unzoomed/changes its width. a fit to container will be a great option.

**What problems is Highcharts solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Charting display on our website. It saves time to draw your own charts and provides many customizations that are commonly needed for data charting.

  ### 45. Superflexible and magic highcharts

**What do you like best about Highcharts?**

Flexibility, dynamic, Good looking charts from a well driven company with high level support.

**What do you dislike about Highcharts?**

ITs Not for free, however clearly a cost benefit because of the unique flexibility compared to competitors - if any..

**Recommendations to others considering Highcharts:**

Clear cost benefit and the Higsoft product(s) is still improving.

**What problems is Highcharts solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With highcharts you are able to Quickly present data from various sources, and publish interactive charts and Maps locally or on a web server near you.

  ### 46. Highcharts for finance and business aplications

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2022

**What do you like best about Highcharts?**

Easy to use, customization options and all the examples available.

**What do you dislike about Highcharts?**

Sometimes it feels that default color schemes look too simplistic. Maybe useful to have more color themes available.
The technical analysis tools usability for stocks could use an improvement. Especially when you compare it to specific APIs such as tradingview

**What problems is Highcharts solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have used highcharts for stock and bonds pricing (OHLC) and volume information. Also to present investment limits quickly with radial charts.

**Official Response from Ferdinand Berntsen:**

> Thank you for your valuable feedback. Your comments have been shared with our Product team for review. Don't hesitate to request features through our GitHub page.

Supports a diverse variety of charts (Stock Charts, Gnatt charts) and provides useful functionality by default (Export as Image/pdf/csv) out of the box.
Provides consistent API across different charts and compatible chart types can be swapped easily.

**What do you dislike about Highcharts?**

Network Topology charts are missing, and I had to go for some other library.

**Recommendations to others considering Highcharts:**

API documentation is good and consistent across different types of charts. Worth giving a try.

**What problems is Highcharts solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy to build dashboards using a diverse variety of charts.

  ### 48. Awesome HighCharts

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Muhammad Qasim R. | Senior PHP Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Highcharts?**

Its configuration settings every thing is here what you like to do. Very easy and simple to configuration charts settings. Having a big community with the help. Also have a better documentation.

**What do you dislike about Highcharts?**

Documentation is not simple. More research to find out the every setting. Using the different third party help mostly for the custom charts.

**Recommendations to others considering Highcharts:**

Mostly i recommendations to my all types of collages. Because of simple and time less configuration . Having a lot of options and styles in this api.

Its a awesome for me and recommendation to others.

**What problems is Highcharts solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There are the following some benefits and solving examples as mention below.

Solving problems: I am using this graph api more then 5 years . A lot of problems i have been solved using this api. For example a legend feature is more power full option in this api. Where you configure it and make a more then one shapes of the same grpahs. Show all the legend or hide some legend make a new look for the graphs.

Benefits are the most power full key is less time taking. Easy install and configure able. you may say that it will be work withen mints.

  ### 49. Incredibly Flexible Charting Library

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lisa S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 24, 2020

**What do you like best about Highcharts?**

Practically anytime I need to change something about the charts, the value that I need to change or the event that I need to hook into is referenced somewhere in the documentation. I just have to find it.

There are very few situations where I need to do math own to alter the data so that I can get the results I want. There are so many different charts types available. People I work with keep wanting different ways to analyze the data that we have, and I'm thrilled that I can pretty much always find a solution in Highcharts so that I don't need to bring in any other libraries related to charting.

**What do you dislike about Highcharts?**

The only downside that I can find is that sometimes it takes a bit of searching to find the exact piece of the config I need to change in order to get the outcome that I want. However, I think that this has something to do with the fact that there is just so much you can do in Highcharts. There are so many options because they've made it so flexible.

**What problems is Highcharts solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've worked at two companies that have used Highcharts to make complex data visualizations for quite large data sets. And, for this purpose, there's not really another library I'd want to use. I've been incredibly pleased with Highcharts over the past few years.

  ### 50. Great charting package! I use it for all my charting!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Keith D. | Java / J2EE Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 11, 2021

**What do you like best about Highcharts?**

Wide range of chart types are supported, including stock charts, which are especially needed working in a finance company. The paid support is great! I usually have answers to any of my questions the next morning!

**What do you dislike about Highcharts?**

There is nothing I dislike. There is a learning curve, but the doc and support are great, and I don't see how it would be possible to not have a learning curve, especially if someone didn't have experience with other charting packages.

**What problems is Highcharts solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Comparing investment options (different stocks and bonds). Comparing current investments to it's benchmark. I find that I use scatter charts the most, but also stock charts, and box charts. Charts can be lively and interactive, consuming and emitting events.
