## GroupMe Reviews
  ### 1. GroupMe Keeps Group Chats Organized Without Interrupting My Focus.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mark B. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 29, 2026

**What do you like best about GroupMe?**

GroupMe allows me to have group chats without interrupting my focus. When a large group text descends into everyone replying "Yes" and "OK," the distraction is enormous. GroupMe removes this frustration by letting me mute a chat without leaving the group or muting all chats from that group. Now that I am set up with GroupMe I foresee using it regularly.

**What do you dislike about GroupMe?**

The only downside is that this is a separate app or notification from all my other channels, but since I use it to reduce interruptions, that's okay.

**What problems is GroupMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keep distractions at bay without leaving conversations and missing essential information.

**What do you dislike about GroupMe?**

There is nothing I dislike about it. I have only been using it for 6 months.

I like that groupme has been used as a platform to communicate with your peers without giving out your personal phone number. This initially is the first ever slack

**What do you dislike about GroupMe?**

There was not a lot that I did not like about Groupme. If I had to choose something, it would be that if the group was private and you needed to add someone to the group, you couldn't unless you were the admin.

**What problems is GroupMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solved the issue of not giving out my number to various people throughout the company. It allowed me to set boundaries within my role and have people contact me through group me.

  ### 15. Great for Classmates

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Melissa K. | Director of Institutional Communications, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2021

**What do you like best about GroupMe?**

I like that messages can stay in the app or they can be sent as text messages so that people do not have to download the app if they do not want to. Instead of collecting all of my adult classmates' cellphone numbers, we can all sign into the app and create a group to communicate. It is also helpful in group work so that everyone in the group can send quick questions and messages to each other.

**What do you dislike about GroupMe?**

I dislike that I can't remove a group easily. When a class is over, I should be able to remove myself easily from that group so that I no longer receive messages. I do not see that option easily on the app.

**Recommendations to others considering GroupMe:**

It is free and it is easy to use for quick messaging.

**What problems is GroupMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quick communication is much easier with GroupMe. There's no need to be part of a group text or a long string of emails if you are just communicating quickly.

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2021

The fact that someone can use GroupMe on a daily to keep everyone on the same page. Changes happen when employees are off, and this is a great tool to use so that no one is in the dark about any issues.

**What do you dislike about GroupMe?**

Sometimes the employees have a hard time seeing messages if they have changed or upgraded their phones.

**What problems is GroupMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The fact that someone can use GroupMe daily to keep everyone on the same page. Changes happen when employees are off, and this is a great tool to use so that no one is in the dark about any issues.

  ### 18. Works fantastic

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maxim A. P. | Operations Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 28, 2021

**What do you like best about GroupMe?**

I like how it is a mass communication platform.

**What do you dislike about GroupMe?**

I wish that I could see who is reading my messages immediately. Like a read receipt. I want push notifications enabled for when I send certain messages, telling me that users have read them.

**Recommendations to others considering GroupMe:**

Try to make several smaller groups instead of one big one.

**What problems is GroupMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Communication, both quality & quantity.

  ### 19. Helpful communication app that allows for large amounts of people to work together.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2021

**What do you like best about GroupMe?**

The amount of people that GroupMe allows in chat groups is huge, which is extremely helpful to communicate with other students in a large class. GroupMe also has many great features, such as a mute option for chats that you do not want to receive notification from. Overall, this is a great way to communicate with others!

**What do you dislike about GroupMe?**

It would be helpful not to notify others when someone leaves a group chat. However, this is not a major concern, and there is not much to dislike about this app!

**Recommendations to others considering GroupMe:**

GroupMe is great for communicating with others. I also like that you can share an invite link with others so that they can join a chat. I would recommend using GroupMe for classes or group projects since it is very adaptable for many different devices, as opposed to other messaging apps.

**What problems is GroupMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GroupMe is especially useful for large polls! Users can vote in the chat, and the votes are formatted into a chart to show what is winning. In addition, after the poll expires, the results are displayed in the chat, which is extremely helpful. This is a great feature that allows for quick opinions to be shared amongst a class or a group!

GroupMe does a great job at being a messaging app, love the ease of communication and setting up rooms.

Emojis are subpar, considering it being a messaging app..Also it's not easy to delete a group no longer being used. Also, a couple of our rooms got hacked into so didn't feel all that great from a security standpoint.

**What problems is GroupMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows for large teams to all be together.

**What do you dislike about GroupMe?**

The polls are not great when you would like people to vote for more then 1 option.

**What problems is GroupMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having to have many different group texts. Texts are easy to miss.

  ### 25. GroupMe essential for Teamwork

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kendra H. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 10, 2020

**What do you like best about GroupMe?**

GroupMe is one of my favorite applications to keep in touch with others whether it be for work, school, networking, or personal matters. I love that you can create multiple groups with different people and customize the group's name and photo which helps distinguish them from one another in the general chat area. Moreover, within these groups, you can "heart" a comment you like or support that someone else has made and you can also post photos from your photo library, send your location, send alternative media such as gifs, create and send calendar events, and create a quick and easy poll. Furthermore, one of their newer additions was integrating skype - so now you can do a skype video or call with the individual or group of your choosing. I also love that if you hook up your contacts to the application, you are able to see who is already using groupme and who you can invite to use the application should you need to do so. This makes it easier especially when trying to communicate with large groups. Additionally, if you are not already contacts with someone then you can simply scan their QR code and they will be added to your phone contacts and to your groupme contacts.

**What do you dislike about GroupMe?**

It can be quite annoying when you have multiple groupme conversations occurring and they are constantly going off on your phone- you can go in and turn off the notifications in settings but you have to do this for each group individually which can be quite tasking depending on how many you have.

**Recommendations to others considering GroupMe:**

Great application ! Highly recommend.

**What problems is GroupMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This application is best for collaborating with others and is has been key in getting my work done. I think it has a vide variety of applications and would benefit anyone who used it.

**What problems is GroupMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

  ### 27. Perfect way to communicate with everyone!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** angee l. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2020

**What do you like best about GroupMe?**

We have a team of over 15+ people that we need to be in constant communication with throughout the day, GroupMe allows us to do this without fail! It is so easy for us to keep everyone updated through the easy use of group messages. Majority of our team is always on the go, GroupMe allows everyone to stay in touch & receive updates easily! We also use the app as well, and it is perfect for all of our team members!

**What do you dislike about GroupMe?**

The platform is truly so easy to use, I have not found anything that we don't like. It's very user friendly! The only thing I wish there was more of is emojis. There are lots already but there could definitely be more.

**Recommendations to others considering GroupMe:**

If you are looking for a platform where you can communicate with a large group of people, or individually with your team; and you would like it to be all in one place, I would HIGHLY recommend utilizing GroupMe to solve these problems! Another great thing about GroupMe is that they have the platform available on your phone! I would definitely recommend downloading their app!

**What problems is GroupMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to have an ongoing group message with everyone on our team is very useful, as most of our team travels all over the place, & we are not always in the office together. The option to direct message comes in handy as well!

  ### 28. Decent group messaging solution

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Aviation & Aerospace | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 06, 2021

**What do you like best about GroupMe?**

Convenient for folks to create accounts without additional logins

**What do you dislike about GroupMe?**

Unable to search within messages. Huge shortcoming... search function only looks at chat titles

50% teleworking due to COVID.

  ### 29. Great way to organize chats for large groups

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Donna A. L. | Owner/Veterinarian, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2020

**What do you like best about GroupMe?**

Multiple chats. You can have one for the whole group, one for private chats with individuals or groups. You can make chats findable or locked. You can have specific images for each group. It's easy to use and extremely flexible. There's a sidebar to preview chats. Each member can choose their display name in each chat, so you can go by full name and title in a formal chat and switch to first name only or a nickname in a smaller, less formal chat.

**What do you dislike about GroupMe?**

Unlike many similar chats, it does not show you who has seen a message. This can make it difficult to figure out when you should follow up on a message.

Sometimes it is difficult to invite a new person into the chats. You can invite by email or phone number, but sometimes the person invited has a hard time finding the invite. I don't know if it goes to spam or the problem is less-tech-savvy people.

**Recommendations to others considering GroupMe:**

Sometimes people don't see their invites. I suggest following up to make sure the person saw their invite.

**What problems is GroupMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our non-profit uses GroupMe. Each committee has it's own chat, the board has it's own chat. Since it's the official communication platform, it's easy to reschedule or handle problems. it's easy to solve many problems just with a quick chat rather than putting together a full meeting. Especially during COVID-19 quarantine, the ease of communication is invaluable.

  ### 30. Best way to communicate with staff

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 04, 2020

**What do you like best about GroupMe?**

It’s so easy to make a group chat with all of your staff and communicate with them! You can send messages, pictures, polls, and events. It’s the best way to keep everyone up to date on important information in your business. If you have a big staff, it’s also the easiest way to get everyone into one chat. You can like messages and see the most popular messages. It’s easy to add and remove members. You can make it an open group where anyone in the chat can add members, or you can make it a closed group where only the admin can add and remove members. People also have the option to leave the group themselves if they chose, unlike in regular text messages. You also have the option of muting the chat. You can also search messages.

**What do you dislike about GroupMe?**

When the groups get big, they can constantly blow up. But you have the option to mute the chat, but you can miss out on important messages. It also shows only the popular messages for the month, so you it’s not as easy to see past popular messages. It would be nice if there was an option to pin important messages for reminders that the staff can easily look back on instead of scrolling back through the messages. Also if you don’t have a smart phone you can’t use group me as easily.

**Recommendations to others considering GroupMe:**

If you have a lot of staff members, groupme is definitely the right choice as it is the best way to reach everyone at once. It’s very easy to install on your phone and staff members tend to be much more responsive through groupme. If you’re looking for more than just communication, groupme offers more features! It shows popular messages, you can send pictures and videos, you can send polls for everyone to vote, and you can send important events in there that allow people to show if they’re attending or not. Groupme is the easiest way to communicate and stay organized.

**What problems is GroupMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have solved communication problems with groupme. Before, it was difficult to contact all of the staff at once. But with group me, it’s easy and sends notifications to your phone so everyone is more likely to see the messages. It also allows all staff members to get involved in the conversation and ask questions at any time. For things like staff events, we can also set polls when we need opinions for everyone on making decisions. Our communication has gotten a lot better and a lot easier. Staff have been more engaged in conversation.

  ### 31. Good for universal group communication - apple, android, etc

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gracen M. | Research Assistant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2020

**What do you like best about GroupMe?**

The most helpful part about GroupMe is the adaptability for all types of phone, whereas group messages on iPhone is strict to that of iPhone.

Additionally, they recently added a feature in which you can search old messages by keywords, which made GroupMe more on the same level as Apple.

The feature of scanning a QR code to add contacts is also really helpful.

**What do you dislike about GroupMe?**

I don't like that when you mute a conversation, everyone else in the chat can see that you have muted it. It would be nice if this feature was more discrete.

I appreciate the "like" feature, but it would be nice if there were more reaction options (dislike, laugh, etc.)

**Recommendations to others considering GroupMe:**

It is a lot more professional than using iPhone group message - however, it has the intuitive features of Apple that other messaging softwares don't have. Be careful about putting yourself on mute, because your group will receive this information (awkward)

GroupMe is an inexpensive way to facilitate messaging within a company, educational group, or social group. It is particularly helpful with large organizations that have sub-organizations.

I use GroupMe for my sorority, and it makes it very convenient to break the group up and assign members to other committees.

**What problems is GroupMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use GroupMe primarily for school, organizations, or employment.
In particular, I use GroupMe in my sorority nearly everyday. It's really helpful for my sorority because it allows us to break into committees, and invite people to join committees within the larger group message.
It feels more professional, and less personal, to communicate via group me rather than texting, which I think is one of the main benefits, especially when using it for employment.

  ### 32. Great for group chatting

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Law Practice | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2020

**What do you like best about GroupMe?**

I am able to get a message out to everyone in my team in real time and get real time responses. I can also have break off conversations when needed. This app allows multiple users to interact to one time vs sending the same message to multiple people. It is a great interactive tool for teams that are on the go or often not in the same vicinity.

**What do you dislike about GroupMe?**

The system can freeze from time to time, but exiting the app and reopening usually fixes the issue. Other than this the app works exactly as describes with minimal problems and issues.

**What problems is GroupMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use this app to keep everyone in the team in the loop of where we are throughout the day. My position requires me to go to different facilities and agencies. Everyone is able to post their whereabouts and ask questions for when they're in meetings /hearings and need stats asap.

I don’t dislike anything. It’s truly my favorite app of its kind.

**Recommendations to others considering GroupMe:**

Download it! It’s the best app of its kind.

**What problems is GroupMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sending an important message to a group instantly and simultaneously, instead of via email or via phone calls.

You can see when an individual has read a message, you can add/delete people, you can mute message threads, you can like messages

**What do you dislike about GroupMe?**

I don't get GroupMe service as well as I get regular cell phone service (i.e. it doesn't work on my school's wifi). I'd like better search functions, too.

**Recommendations to others considering GroupMe:**

Learn how to mute conversations early on!

**What problems is GroupMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm solving the problem of not always being at my computer, as well as group texts not working as well for people who don't have iPhones.

  ### 37. Review for Group me

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pranalee A. | Consumer Insights Analyst Intern, Market Research, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2019

**What do you like best about GroupMe?**

The speed of the app is great and it really saves time especially in a world where everyone is busy. It is very easy to create a group on the app and connect with a number of people at the same time. The app is also highly interactive, it is easy to send photos and chat with people simultaneously.

**What do you dislike about GroupMe?**

The only feature that would be disliked sometimes is that everyone is able to see the messages on a group me. Sending a video to people is sometimes a task. The color scheme used in the app is dull and boring I think vibrant colors would be better so that it becomes distinct.

**Recommendations to others considering GroupMe:**

I would highly recommend this and I really love the calendar feature of the app.

**What problems is GroupMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is very useful in sending group messages and connecting to people. We can also send invitations to meetings through the app.

  ### 38. Good for communicating in healthcare setting

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Emma C. | Nurse technician , Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2019

**What do you like best about GroupMe?**

I work in a hospital and this application is great to have everyone on our floor in a group message for easy communication. We can talk about if we need nurses to come on a shift, if there are any important dates or meetings to know of, etc.

**What do you dislike about GroupMe?**

There’s is not much that I dislike about this app

**Recommendations to others considering GroupMe:**

Definitely more useful than text message or emailing when you need to talk to a large group of people quickly

**What problems is GroupMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solving the problem of quick communication. Email was not useful as most people didn’t check it daily. However, group me comes right to your phone and is easy as a text to reply.

  ### 39. Best App EVER

**Reviewed by:** Gareth D. | Live Editor Front End Web Developer Intern, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 09, 2019

**What do you like best about GroupMe?**

The app allows me to communicate with all the people from different classes. It does not require me to have their number saved and is the best way to communicate with people, especially in a group.

**What do you dislike about GroupMe?**

I wish the app would allow me to add more people to the group and remember people I have interacted with in the group

**Recommendations to others considering GroupMe:**

Would like to have video calls on the application.

**What problems is GroupMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Meeting people and communicating with groups allows the correct information to reach me in the way it was intended too. It really helped us communicate cross teams and helped us rapidly communicate.

I love the simplicity of it and how you can stay connected with colleagues and create different groups so for example in our company we utilize it for many different reasons. So we have groups for each one, just for administration and one for all the employees.

**What do you dislike about GroupMe?**

There is really nothing that I dislike. I enjoy it all.

**What problems is GroupMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The benefits is the ability to all stay connected through this software.

**What do you dislike about GroupMe?**

there is nothing in particular that I don't like about this app. I noticed, in the past 5 years, this app is the most common way to stay connected with people in college.

**What problems is GroupMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

staying connected with my classmates through the semester, where if you don't understand anything you just ask a question and everyone is welling to help.

  ### 44. Helps me communicate with coworkers and great for top-down communication

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Restaurants | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2019

**What do you like best about GroupMe?**

GroupMe is an easy application to download and use to connect with coworkers and management when other direct forms of communication (e.g. tracking down everyone's individual phone numbers or emails) are difficult. You can connect to anyone that has the app, and you can start multiple group messages with different themes. For example, this app is very helpful at restaurants. My management has one message with all employees in it where they can tell us what's going on with promotions, etc., and only servers are in another group message where we can trade shifts, etc. I've also used it outside of restaurants in communicating with coworkers internationally when traveling for events.

**What do you dislike about GroupMe?**

Sometimes the user interface gets a little tricky to navigate. For instance, I know I've had problems with figuring out how to mute certain conversations without muting all conversations. I have also had issues with spam messages from hacked users that I've had to ignore, and perhaps GroupMe could look into that issue to help users to stop getting hacked.

**Recommendations to others considering GroupMe:**

Great free application for employees to communicate

**What problems is GroupMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Open communication with management and employees, communicate with people whose numbers you don't have, and have everyone on the same page when it comes to events and promotions

  ### 45. Plain and simple...it does what it's supposed to do

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Professional Training & Coaching | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2019

**What do you like best about GroupMe?**

GroupMe does exactly what it is supposed to do. It is very simple to use and allows you to communicate with a group of others in a flash. Also the ability to share content from other applications within the chat is very seamless and easy to use and view.

**What do you dislike about GroupMe?**

This is very nit-picky but I wish there was a way to search within a thread of messages in a group using key words. Sometimes there are things that I want to revisit and the only thing that is easy to search through are images that are shared.

**Recommendations to others considering GroupMe:**

GroupMe gets the job done. They do a great job not trying to be something that they aren't and simply provide a user experience that is efficient and easy to use for group communication.

**What problems is GroupMe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GroupMe allows my team to seamlessly communicate all together and on the go through our mobile devices.
