Some of the most simple functions in EViews yield a host of useful and powerful statistics for your business or project. If you understand the statistical and mathematical theory behind forecasting, you will be able to run powerful functions with your data. EViews make the analysis of time-series data extremely accessible. It simplifies the process of analyzing your data without having to write complex scripts. I would say that my favorite part of EViews is the ability to directly access 3rd party data inside of the software without having to scrape the web for the data you need. I have used this software for time-series forecasting and have been delighted with its different functions. **What do you dislike about eviews?** My main concern with EViews is that it does have a learning curve. EViews can be intimidating; however, the knowledge required to use the program can be easily attained. With an elementary knowledge of programming, one will be able to use this software effectively. However, intuitively, the further one goes with their statistical analysis, the greater understanding that they will need to have about using programming languages for mathematical and statistical purposes. The user interface is not aesthetically pleasing; however, the functionality of the package more than compensates for this deficiency. **What problems is eviews solving and how is that benefiting you?** I have used this software package to forecast revenue at specific points in time for a non-profit organization at my university. My problem with other software packages was the quality of the analysis that I was attempting to retrieve. EViews gives a lot of autonomy to the user for their analysis. I am able to provide reports for revenue forecasting for whatever unit of time that we prefer. I can estimate revenue for the next few days, or for the next few years even! It is a useful tool that we utilize here, and are happy with using the software as a baseline for our planning. ### 10. Powerful in terms of performing data analysis, data regression as well as forecasting. The results are often easy to interpret. The estimation has also included the method being chosen and assumption being made, which is very convenient to remind users in terms of the algorithm being used. Can quickly and efficiently perform data simulation. **What do you dislike about eviews?** Eviews has been used widely in educational institutions, but not in industry. Limited control over the data visualisation. Compared to other software, Eviews requires paid subscription, which is one of the reasons that there is a shift from Eviews to other open source products when conducting statistical modelling. To further conduct another piece of statistical analysis based on current estimation could be challenging. Limited support could be found online, which sometimes could slow down the process. From the menu we get quickly to the desired features and we can slowly build expertise on the commands to get there even more quickly. The use of this software is simple and easy. Even a beginner can handle and understand it easily. The function of making model and adjusting according to your need is very convenient. The range of financial models is another positive aspect of this analysis tool. Setting the properties of each variable is simple. You can even copy paste your data from excel file or you can import csv file for inputting data. The output tables are so aligned and easy to interpret. Models like ARMA, GMM and others are very common in financial modeling and E-views gives you an opportunity to apply these models with few clicks on your data.
