It is one of the most powerful engines out there available for free. Also 5% royalty applies when you ship your project. Your first $5K annual revenue per project is royalty-free. So it is great for a first time project. **What do you dislike about CryEngine?** It is not as intuitive as Unity or Unreal but they do have a very accessible knowledge base and tutorials to get started. They may not have as many tools and assets available on their store as other engines but have enough for any project to get started. **Recommendations to others considering CryEngine:** Really good for experienced developers looking to make a quick good looking game fast **What problems is CryEngine solving and how is that benefiting you?** We do not currently use CryEngine but have experimented in the past with at game jams and other events. ### 2. It has got the nest platform for all game developers out there who want to bring their imaginations alive and the most important of it all is that everything is easily accessible from the source code, to numerous tutorials to a great team of developers that are ready to support you with your own project. Further still it is highly improved all the time to give any would be developer limitless comfort in achieving their project goals. **What do you dislike about CryEngine?** There have been some flaws in some documentation but other than that it is great software. **Recommendations to others considering CryEngine:** It is a great platform for all game developers. The level of support you will get is unmatched and thus it is a must have. **What problems is CryEngine solving and how is that benefiting you?** The benefit has been being able to realise my imaginations with unlimited support from a community of developers through tutorials and the open source code onto which I have a great foundation for game developement. ### 3. But it really feels the lack of a tool such as the one from Unity called ProBuilder. **Recommendations to others considering CryEngine:** If you use more Windows than other OS and don't need to much requirements, you can consider CryEngine. **What problems is CryEngine solving and how is that benefiting you?** The thing I'm creating with CryEngine is a 3D environment that recreates a real place, which is used to visit those places in a virtual reality application. ### 4. It has very intuitive and simplistic layout. If you already know how to use another game engine, you won't have issues with CryEngine. It has a lot of power when creating landscapes and ambients. **What do you dislike about CryEngine?** The Flow Graph ain't as powerful as the blueprints in Unreal Engine, e.g., even if you can create a lot of things with that, there are better tools out there. **What problems is CryEngine solving and how is that benefiting you?** A great benefit are the costs, with CryEngine is very easy to manage what you can have with a free subscription, but with other engines sometimes you feel very limited. ### 5. This business model coupled with a great engine are what make me a happy user of cryengine. Beautiful physics, graphics, and development platform for all your game dev needs. **What do you dislike about CryEngine?** My only complaint with this engine is it seems to favor Nvidia builds over AMD. This is probably just how each are designed and doesn’t correlate to the platform though. I really like this engine and don’t have many complaints. **What problems is CryEngine solving and how is that benefiting you?** As far as business problems go I actually use the cryengine as a benchmark tool for test graphics cards and video related issues for clients. ### 6. These days most people recommend Unreal, but still if you want to make exterior scenes that is the best you can have. No wonder why most companies using some sort of upgraded version of cryengine **What problems is CryEngine solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am an environment artist and we use it on a daily basis, its easy to use and the learning curvature for the basics are short enough. ### 8. The provided assets and terrain tools are extraordinary. CryEngine has the easiest terrain editing tool I've used. The scalability of the graphics engine is very impressive. **What do you dislike about CryEngine?** It's difficult to create something that doesn't match up with the standard Crytek kind of games, like first person shooters. Doing anything complex in 2D (like creating the UI) can be a bit more taxing than it should be. **Recommendations to others considering CryEngine:** CryEngine seems to be improving constantly, but I would not use this product if I needed to build anything that is very UI or 2D intensive. Otherwise, the out of the box visuals from the engine are amazing, are certainly rival Unreal. **What problems is CryEngine solving and how is that benefiting you?** Creating games or game prototypes. I think developing a full game would guarantee a good looking game, but it feels like there are a number of hoops to jump through in order to complete a full project. ### 13.
