My guess is clash detection genuinely shifts when problems get caught, catching the geometric conflicts, two systems literally occupying the same space, well before anyone's on site. What still slips through tends to be the stuff a model can't predict: actual installation tolerances, sequencing conflicts between trades working the same area at different times, or field conditions that don't match the as-built assumptions the model was built on. So the timeline benefit is real, it's just narrower than "catch everything early" implies, teams still budget for some field coordination regardless of how clean the federated model looked on screen.
