# Which Java Development Kit distributions are most trusted by developers building and deploying production applications?

When you're picking a JDK for a production app, trust is the thing you can't fake. It comes from a stable track record, licensing clarity, and the confidence that the vendor will still be shipping patches two years from now. Here's which JDK distributions earn that trust on G2:

Amazon Corretto (4.5/5, 130 reviews) has the largest review base in the category, and a consistent 4.5 rating at that volume signals broad trust across different team sizes and use cases. The fact that Amazon runs Corretto in their own production services is the most frequently cited reason developers trust it. The no-cost, no-strings-attached licensing removes one common source of enterprise anxiety.

Azul Platform Core (Zulu) (4.9/5, 58 reviews) is trusted by developers who want a vendor they can call when something goes wrong in production. The high satisfaction score reflects a user base that chose Zulu deliberately for the commercial relationship, not just the binaries. TCK certification on every build gives confidence in a fully compliant Java implementation.

Liberica JDK (5.0/5, 14 reviews) has built trust among developers focused on modern deployment targets. BellSoft's transparent build process, full TCK certification, and responsive community engagement contribute to high developer confidence. The perfect rating, while based on fewer reviews, indicates strong satisfaction among adopters.

Oracle Java Downloads (4.4/5, 48 reviews) carries decades of trust as the original Java platform. Many developers started learning Java on Oracle's JDK and carry that familiarity into enterprise decisions. The trust factor here is less about recent innovation and more about continuity and the weight of being the reference implementation.

When you're choosing a JDK for a new production application today, what earns your trust? Is it the vendor's reputation, the review data, the licensing model, or something else?

Licensing clarity, ahead of everything else. Corretto being no-cost with no strings attached is the reason it clears procurement without a conversation.

Does trust here come down to long-term support commitments, or just which distribution developers happened to learn on first?

For me it's the licensing model that earns trust more than anything else, because it's the one that can change retroactively. A distribution that's free today under terms that have already shifted once is a different risk profile from one with a stable licensing history. That factor doesn't show up in performance benchmarks but it shows up in renewal conversations.
