# Which image optimization platforms are GDPR compliant for a European ecommerce brand that cannot send customer-uploaded image data to a US-based processing service?

&lt;p&gt;TwicPics would be the first one I’d investigate because EU-based processing simplifies the residency conversation. I’d still want the DPA to spell out subprocessors and storage locations clearly, since “European vendor” alone doesn’t guarantee every part of the processing chain stays in the EU.&lt;/p&gt;

Customer-uploaded images could still touch logs, backups, subprocessors, or support systems outside the EU even if transformations happen there. &lt;p&gt;The practical checklist here is shorter than the vendor pages make it look: an EU processing region, a signed DPA, and clarity on whether the optimizer stores originals or only transforms in transit. That last one is what data protection officers actually push on, since transient processing is a much easier conversation than storage. Worth knowing that several vendors can pin processing to EU regions on request even where the marketing doesn&#39;t say so, so I&#39;d ask directly rather than ruling anyone out from the pricing page.&lt;/p&gt;
