Had a disk controller start showing intermittent errors for about three weeks before it actually failed. The only reason we caught it was because someone happened to look at the trend graph, the alert threshold wasn&#39;t low enough to fire. Now I set a secondary &quot;warning&quot; threshold way below the critical one, just to get early noise rather than late silence. Sounds obvious but a lot of people skip it.
