&lt;p&gt;What strains as volume grows is exceptions, not throughput. A spreadsheet absorbs an exception invisibly, because you type something different in a cell and move on. A structured workflow has to have a lane for it, and if there isn&#39;t one, people email the approver directly and the system quietly stops matching reality, which is the same problem you left the spreadsheet to escape. So the question worth asking in a demo is what happens to the request that doesn&#39;t fit the flow, not how many requests a day it can handle. FlowForma coming up specifically for digitising processes that used to run on email and paper is encouraging there, since those are exactly the processes carrying years of accumulated special cases.&lt;/p&gt;
