# What's the most effective AR training simulator software for onboarding new employees?

What's the most effective AR training simulator software for onboarding new employees? Onboarding is one of those use cases where the promise of AR training is obvious, get someone comfortable with equipment or a process before they're doing it live, but the actual reviews that talk about onboarding specifically are thinner than I expected once you filter out the ones just describing general remote support or content creation.

SynergyXR: one reviewer specifically credits it with reducing the on the job learning curve for new hires, describing hands on virtual training as a faster path than shadowing someone in person.

Reflekt One: reviewers describe turning existing 2D and 3D technical documentation into step by step interactive guides, with one reviewer calling it a more detailed and better point of view than a standard training video for getting someone up to speed.

Help Lightning: its own product description centers on installation, inspection, training, and repair work, and reviewers describe using it to walk a new or remote person through a task in real time rather than sending someone out to demonstrate it in person.

Dynamics 365 Guides: only a couple of its reviews actually described the HoloLens based Guides product itself rather than the broader Dynamics 365 business suite, but one of those two specifically described using 3D guides to help site engineers address issues, which is relevant here even with such a small genuine sample.

For anyone who's actually used one of these specifically to onboard new hires rather than just support existing staff remotely: did the AR piece meaningfully speed things up, or did it mostly just make an already solid onboarding process feel more modern?

The "modern versus actually faster" split you end on is the right one to sit with. AR onboarding tends to earn its keep where there's real equipment or a spatial process involved, since that's exactly where shadowing is slow and early mistakes get expensive. For onboarding that's mostly screens and policy, a solid video course usually closes the same gap without the headset overhead, so the equipment-heavy roles are where I'd expect the AR piece to show a real speed difference rather than just a fresher feel.
