Say someone who has lived in Excel opens Smartsheet for the first time: I'm writing a piece on what's different about writing its advanced formulas. In the G2 reviews I read, the familiar grid makes the basics easy, and the adjustment sits in advanced formulas and customising them, where some behaviour needs relearning for the first few weeks. Leaning on the support resources and giving it time is what people recommend.
What makes the adjustment worth it is the collaboration around those formulas. In project management, Smartsheet suits teams that need one sheet everyone can work in at once, with several people compiling information in the same place and comments sitting right on the rows. Heavy number crunching can live in a dedicated analytics tool, while Smartsheet keeps the shared working sheet current.
Which formula took you longest to get comfortable with? And did you rebuild your Excel logic, or rethink it for the way Smartsheet works?
