Folding endpoint health into monitoring people already check daily probably catches more than a separate dashboard nobody opens.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Laptops make alert quality much harder than servers because disconnected doesn’t necessarily mean unhealthy. I’d want policies that account for last check-in, battery health, disk warnings, temperature, and repeated failures rather than firing simply because a device went offline. If the team starts ignoring alerts from machines that are just asleep or travelling, the monitoring loses value quickly.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Something I&#39;d add to the &quot;before users notice&quot; framing: laptops are only online part of the time, so alert logic built around servers can read a closed lid the same way it reads a failure. Worth asking each vendor how they distinguish a genuinely offline endpoint from a laptop that&#39;s just shut for the night, because that single distinction is what decides whether the alerts stay credible.&lt;/p&gt;

Curious how people are handling laptops specifically, because that&#39;s where it gets complicated. Laptops go offline, change networks, go home with users. Does PRTG&#39;s remote probe setup actually handle that gracefully or do you end up with a bunch of stale alerts every morning? I haven&#39;t found a clean answer to this.
