# What are the top-rated secure enterprise browsers for giving contractors access without shipping them a managed laptop?

Secure Enterprise Browser reviews on G2 for the contractor-access angle split along how much of the device the platform actually touches. Prisma Browser and Menlo Security both position themselves as working on devices IT never manages at all, no agent installed, which is a meaningfully lighter footprint than a policy that extends onto the device the way Island is described doing, even though Island's approach still stops short of full device control. The BYOD framing across all three is really answering a liability question as much as a technical one, since a lost or compromised personal device is a different kind of incident to explain than a lost managed laptop, and these tools are mostly about keeping company data out of the device layer entirely rather than securing the device itself.

Cost positioning is worth noting, too. Menlo's framing as a lower-cost alternative to shipping hardware or running VDI suggests the real comparison in a lot of these decisions isn't between browsers, it's between a browser-based approach and the hardware or VDI approach it's replacing. For anyone who's actually onboarded contractors this way, the more interesting number probably isn't day-one speed alone; it's whether offboarding got faster too, since revoking browser-based access should be simpler than tracking down a physical laptop that may or may not come back.
