On bidirectional versus one-way: the technical capability is the easy half. Two-way writing means partner-reported data can overwrite CRM records your sales team treats as truth, so before turning it on you need an answer to "when the incentive platform and Salesforce disagree about a deal, which one wins, field by field." Teams that skip that conversation end up with the worst of both: silent overwrites nobody trusts, followed by someone quietly switching sync back to one-way. One-way plus a reviewed exception report is often the grown-up choice, not the compromise.
