# What are the best communication platform as a service (CPaaS) platforms for small teams?

Telnyx CPaaS: A particularly interesting option for smaller organizations. Most of its G2 reviews come from small businesses, and users repeatedly mention straightforward setup, responsive support, affordability, and accessible APIs. G2 shows an average implementation time of about one month.

Twilio: Still one of the broadest developer ecosystems in CPaaS. Reviewers like its documentation, APIs, integrations, and reliable messaging, which can make it easier for a small development team to add communications incrementally. The tradeoff that appears regularly in reviews is cost as usage scales, along with mixed support experiences.

Plivo: Worth comparing when voice and messaging APIs are the main requirement and a smaller team doesn't need the breadth of a larger communications suite.

For a small team, I’d compare ongoing operational overhead as closely as initial setup. Number provisioning, carrier registration, compliance changes, and deliverability troubleshooting can quietly become the bigger workload. For Telnyx, Twilio, or Plivo users on lean engineering teams, which platform required the least maintenance six months after launch, and what ended up consuming the most developer time?
