# What are the best case management tools for tracking regulatory investigations to support growing teams with complex operations?

What does a growing team with complex operations actually need from a case management tool built for regulatory investigations, beyond a place to store documents? We used the Investigation Management category as the starting point. What we're hoping to find:

Configurable workflows that map to different regulatory bodies without custom development

A defensible audit trail that holds up if a case is escalated externally

Role-based access so investigators, legal, and leadership see only what they need

Reporting that shows case aging and outcomes across a growing caseload, not just individual case status

What G2 reviews show:

Resolver: Reviewers cite the audit trail's strength and the ability to tie a single investigation to multiple regulatory frameworks simultaneously.

Case IQ: Configurable intake and workflow templates that reviewers say adapt to different investigation types without requiring vendor customization.

Dovetail HR: A smaller review base, but reviewers cite documentation and audit trail features specifically for HR-adjacent regulatory matters.

For a team whose caseload has grown past what one investigator can track manually, has anyone measured how much investigator time this kind of tool actually saves per case?

I’d be interested in time saved on evidence gathering and status reporting specifically. Those are the tasks that tend to expand fastest as caseload grows, even before the investigation work itself becomes more complex.
