# Is MobaXTerm worth it as a terminal emulator for a Windows-based systems administrator, or does PuTTY cover SSH and remote administration needs well enough without the extra setup?

The answer keeps shifting depending on what the actual workload looks like.</p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">Here's how each tool actually plays out in practice:</p><ul>

&lt;p&gt;There&#39;s a one-week test that settles this. Count how often you open something next to PuTTY: an RDP window, WinSCP for file transfer, an X server for the odd GUI app. That pile of side tools is exactly what MobaXterm is selling as one window. If the count is high, it earns its place. If your week is pure SSH into Linux, the pile doesn&#39;t exist and PuTTY was already the answer.&lt;/p&gt;
