Question on: OpenText Application Quality Management
How compatible is this software in integrating it with non micro focus applications?
I want to know with what all the other tools ALM can be integrated.

This app originally named as Test director was developed by Mercury over 15 years ago. Then the it was renamed to Quality center and new owner became HP...there were more versions (and license prices of course) of Quality Center and the ALM version (in that time called HP ALM) included the most of the features. Recently the ALM was bought by Micro Focus. So the ALM is still the top and has many non Micro Focus integrations. Example of integrations - JIRA, TFS, Eclipse, Visual Studio, MS Excell and Word add ins, perhaps also with SOAP UI and many others I'm not even aware of. I worked as a solution consultant for this app until 2015...now I use ALM ocasionaly as Test MGMT tool. Hopefuly it helps.

ALM actually integrates with quite some non Micro Focus tools, without additional charge. Below are some examples, though not a complete list:
ALM Synchronizer provides Requirement and Defect synchronization between ALM and the following
• Atlassian JIRA
• IBM Rational ClearQuest (Defects)
• IBM Rational RequisitePro (Requirements)
• IBM Rational Team Concert (RTC)
• Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS) - includes both TFS on-premise and TFS in the cloud (certified Visual Studio Team Services).
ALM integrates with the following via Micro Focus Connect:
• VersionOne
• ServiceNow
• Atlassian JIRA
• CA Agile Central
• Azure DevOps.
ALI enables integrations with Build servers, SCMs, IDEs:
SCM – Git, Subversion, CVS, Perforce, TFS;
Build Server - Jenkins, TFS, Hudson;
Unit Testing – Junit, TestNG, NUnit, Visual Studio Managed Unit Testing Framework;
Code Coverage Analysis – Cobertura, NCover, Visual Studio 2012, 2013 Code Coverage;
Force.com integration;
IDE - Eclipse, Visual Studio, IntelliJ IDEA;
IBM Rational Clearcase.
Integrating External Tests:
Automation tests executed by Jenkins or other testing frameworks will be integrated into ALM along with the latest test runs - this brings integration with a variety of 3rd party testing tools.

Other built-in integrations:
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Word
- Email

Question on: PractiTest
How do I plan to create filters so that I can reuse them again and again?
We have different modules. We have to run test sets build wise so how should I plan to create filter so that I can reuse it every build.

Hi Aniruddha,
Thanks for reaching out. The best way to do that in your case is to create a 'Build' custom field of the type list and link it to the Test Sets & Runs entity. Then, after adding all your builds as values to your 'Build' field, you can create permutations of your original test set and change the 'Build' field's value for every new build you have.
In order to arrange your Test Sets & Runs view in builds, you can then create a filters hierarchy for your different builds. The parent filter criteria can be - 'Build' is 'Not Empty'. Then, the child filters' criteria can be 'Build' is "each one of your 'Build' field values".
In PractiTest, the Test Library is the repository of your test cases, and the Test Sets & Runs module is where the test execution actually happens. Therefore, when you want to organize your execution based on time-related items (such as builds), the best place to do so is the Test Sets & Runs module.
I really hope that helps and that I have provided all the needed information you were looking for. Please note that you can always reach out to our support team using the chat icon on the bottom right-hand side of your screen.
Best Regards,
Nathan

My company uses SauceLabs to test our web application. I am curious as to whether integration of Selenium/SauceLabs VM/TestCollab is possible?

Hi, I'm co-founder of Test Collab. Sorry, we recently came across this platform and couldn't reply in time.
We support universal integration with all automation tools using either:
a) Test Collab Remote executor utility
b) API
The solution that work best for you will depend highly on your requirements. I'd recommend checking out automation resources here:http://support.testcollab.com/en/articles/2191101-how-to-implement-test-automation
