[What do frontline sales reps actually want from a sales training platform versus what sales enablement managers tend to prioritize when selecting one?](/discussions/what-do-frontline-sales-reps-actually-want-from-a-sales-training-platform-versus-what-sales-enablement-managers-tend-to-prioritize-when-selecting-one)

This question sits at the center of most failed training platform rollouts in the[](https://www.g2.com/categories/sales-training-and-onboarding)[sales training and onboarding](https://www.g2.com/categories/sales-training-and-onboarding) category. The person selecting the tool optimizes for accountability and analytics, the person using the tool optimizes for speed and low friction, and the resulting adoption gap makes the investment worthless.

**What reps optimize for: Mobile Support, Video Simulations, Gamification:**

1. [**SmartWinnr**](https://www.g2.com/products/smartwinnr/reviews) **:** Training accessible between calls on any device, interactive practice that doesn't feel like passive watching, and engagement mechanics that make completing modules feel worth doing. Reps don't evaluate whether the manager dashboard is detailed enough; they evaluate whether the platform fits into how they actually spend their day.
2. [**Awarathon**](https://www.g2.com/products/awarathon/reviews) **:** Best for video simulations — the feature reps most consistently credit for making training feel like genuine skill development rather than content consumption. The ability to practice realistic sales scenarios without the consequence of a real customer encounter is what reps describe as the most valuable training activity.
3. [**Symtrain**](https://www.g2.com/products/symtrain/reviews) **:** Provides the combination of interactive practice and live coaching sessions that reps consistently describe as more engaging than self-paced video modules. The simulation environment makes practice feel consequential rather than perfunctory, which is the gap that passive video never closes.

**What enablement managers optimize for: Manager Portals, Assessments, Certifications:**

1. [**Aspireship**](https://www.g2.com/products/aspireship/reviews) **:** Provides the accountability visibility layer that managers need to distinguish reps who are genuinely developing from those who are completing requirements without engaging. Managers don't evaluate whether the gamification is motivating enough; they evaluate whether they can prove to leadership that the training investment is producing measurable skill development.
2. [**Cockpit**](https://www.g2.com/products/cockpit/reviews) **:** Provides the combination of top-tier assessment capability and CRM connectivity that gives managers the accountability data they need, connected to the deal performance systems where the results actually show up.

For teams that have rolled out a platform, did rep adoption end up being the bottleneck, or was it manager usage of the analytics layer? And has the gap between what got selected and what got used caused you to change anything about how you evaluate platforms now?

Feels like reps care about whether it helps them in the moment, managers care about whether it’s trackable. That gap shows up pretty quickly if the tool leans too much one way. If reps don’t find it useful day to day, it just becomes something they complete, not something they use.

I want to ask you: have you seen anything that reps actually go back to on their own without being asked?

[Is there a sales training platform that actually works for a 10 to 30-person sales team that cannot afford a full enterprise learning suite but needs more than YouTube?](/discussions/is-there-a-sales-training-platform-that-actually-works-for-a-10-to-30-person-sales-team-that-cannot-afford-a-full-enterprise-learning-suite-but-needs-more-than-youtube)

Everyone markets to teams large enough to justify enterprise contracts, but the 10–30 person sales team that has outgrown informal training but can't justify six-figure platform spend is a real use case with real needs. Here are some [sales training and onboarding](https://www.g2.com/categories/sales-training-and-onboarding) tools that stood out.

1. [**Trainual**](https://www.g2.com/products/trainual/reviews) **:** Best suited for companies scaling their training, with role-based path assignment, mandatory sequencing, AI-assisted content creation, and completion tracking at pricing that small sales teams can justify without a dedicated learning and development budget. YouTube and Loom video embedding mean teams can build real training content without expensive video production infrastructure.
2. [**SalesHood**](https://www.g2.com/products/saleshood/reviews) **:** Designed for fast deployment with in-quarter productivity gains, the full enablement stack (onboarding paths, playbooks, video pitch practice, AI coaching) is accessible without enterprise implementation complexity. For a 10–30 person team, the value is replacing three separate tools — LMS, content management, and pitch coaching — with one platform.
3. [**Aspireship**](https://www.g2.com/products/aspireship/reviews) **:** Has a pricing positioning that typically reflects a more accessible cost. For a small sales team that wants enterprise-level analytics and coaching capability without enterprise pricing, the feature profile is compelling.
4. [**Spekit**](https://www.g2.com/products/spekit/reviews) **:** Spekit takes a different approach from traditional LMS platforms. It has surfacing training and enablement content directly inside the CRM and other tools where reps already work, so training recommendations appear in the flow of actual selling activity without requiring reps to navigate to a separate learning environment. Small business users highlight the seamless onboarding process, contextual knowledge delivery, and the ability to update SOPs and distribute changes instantly to a distributed team without running a meeting.
5. [**Bites**](https://www.g2.com/products/bites/reviews) **:** Bites is purpose-built for short-form, social media-style training content that teams without production budgets can actually create and that employees actually complete. Small business administrators describe building training videos with quizzes and flashcards in minutes using the platform's AI video editor and delivering them through WhatsApp, Teams, and SMS so reps receive training on the channel they already use for work.

For anyone who has been at a 10–30 person sales team and gone through platform selection, what did the final decision actually come down to? And was the hardest part finding something with enough capability, or finding something that wouldn't require a dedicated admin just to keep it running?

That middle ground is the hardest part. Most tools either assume too much structure or none at all. For a 10–30 team, it really comes down to something that’s easy to start with but doesn’t feel limiting a few months in. Did anything here feel like a realistic step up from YouTube without becoming a full project?

[Gong vs Salesloft for a sales enablement team that wants call coaching and rep development without paying for two separate subscriptions?](/discussions/gong-vs-salesloft-for-a-sales-enablement-team-that-wants-call-coaching-and-rep-development-without-paying-for-two-separate-subscriptions)

I am exploring this in the context of the[](https://www.g2.com/categories/sales-training-and-onboarding)[sales training and onboarding](https://www.g2.com/categories/sales-training-and-onboarding) category. The core tension is that Gong and Salesloft both have coaching features, but neither was built as a rep development platform. The question is whether teams can consolidate or whether the training gap always requires a third tool.

Gong lives primarily in the [Conversation Intelligence category](https://www.g2.com/categories/conversation-intelligence). Call recording, deal analytics, and manager coaching on real conversations are its strengths. It doesn't provide structured onboarding paths, learning curricula, assessments, or interactive skill-building at the training platform level.

Salesloft is a [Sales Engagement platform](https://www.g2.com/categories/sales-engagement) whose coaching features address cadence optimization and deal inspection rather than structured rep development programs. Teams using either platform as their primary coaching tool typically still maintain a separate training platform for structured development.

Feels like this comparison comes up when teams are trying to simplify their stack. What I’ve noticed is both tools give you signals, but neither really builds a repeatable learning loop. You still end up relying on managers to connect the dots. Do teams actually get away without a third tool here, or does that gap show up pretty quickly?
