[Find new features](https://www.g2.com/glossary) ## Disaster Recovery Software Discussions 0 Question on: Bacula Enterprise [Who else has had problems with Bacula support telling them "You're the only customer reporting this, nobody else has this problem" foe svereal years before confirming a fault but then declining to fix it?](/discussions/49849-who-else-has-had-problems-with-bacula-support-telling-them-you-re-the-only-customer-reporting-this-nobody-else-has-this-problem-foe-svereal-years-before-confirming-a-fault-but-then-declining-to-fix-it) You're the only customer reporting this, nobody else has this problem" type responses going on for several \_years\_ before confirming a fault (which they couldn't originally replicate becayuse they didn't have an enterprise-scale test environment) Then "Oh, you're only paying academic fees, there are more important customers than you to deal with" - for a showstopping bug which kills backups regularly Are we the only ones encountering this kind of attitude? That is ugly indeed! The only thing I can advise you, and have good experience with, is to escalate the ticket as soon as you're unhappy with the support you're receiving. The support team consists of a bunch of senior employees and of course some learning, minors. Escalation, your contract has the exact email address I don't remember it by heart, reveals your ticket to only seniors. Once they come into play, things start rolling. I really astonished if a backup job just works](/discussions/why-there-are-so-many-problems-with-our-tape-backup-i-really-astonished-if-a-backup-job-just-works) I'm so fed up with arcserve I can't tell you. I even reject to take care of it any more. I am sorry I don't have the time any more to sahre all my expereinces with you. There are 33 jobs that did not work so I have to telephone to the service provides. Did I already I so fed up with Arcserve? I’ve had a very similar experience with Arcserve UDP, especially in environments where tape backup is heavily relied on and job consistency is critical. One of the biggest challenges I’ve seen is that backup jobs can fail intermittently without giving clear or meaningful error messages, which makes root cause analysis quite difficult and time-consuming. When you’re dealing with multiple failed jobs at once, it quickly becomes overwhelming because you’re not just fixing one issue—you’re trying to understand a pattern across many failures. In theory, the platform is meant to simplify centralized backup and recovery, but in practice, it often feels like it requires constant monitoring and manual intervention just to keep jobs running reliably. I’ve also found that troubleshooting usually involves going back and forth with support, which slows down resolution even further. Overall, instead of giving confidence that backups are running smoothly in the background, it sometimes feels like you need to babysit the system, especially in larger deployments with many scheduled jobs. https://basketball-stars.io Answered: Christian Evan on June 16, 2026 There can be many variables for backup failure-open files, permissions etc..It is usually an issue with the software you are using for backups. Arcserve is a great software I use and it will backup open files in both the cloud and local drives.
