Question on: ActCAD BIM

I am trying to convert over to LINUX from Windows and wonder if a LINUX version will be available? I have tried using Wine to run ActCAD on LINUX Ubuntu but it doesn't seem to work (would appreciate any help with this).

If ActCAD could be able to be installed to run in LINUX via the Wine Emmulator, that would be a great help.

If your system is robust enough, you could run VirtualBox https://www.virtualbox.org/ and then run a windows virtual system to use ActCAD. I've run my older version of AutoCAD (Map v.2011) that way because it won't run on my Windows 10. You would have to find a license for Windows 7, 8, or 10 as a guest in VirtualBox. I bought ActCAD because I have problems with with AutoCAD because of the .pdf export. It doesn't work for what I need to do plus the VirtualBox can be a little slow mouse-wise, and, with AutoCAD being a fairly memory intensive program, it crashes more often than I'd like. ActCAD is much newer and probably would have no problem in a Windows guest system using Virtualbox.

I need detail how to use three dimensional CFD analysis with ACT CAD

With Auto Cad one can do CFD analysis of hydraulic system ...I wounder I could with ACT CAD also ... any help?

Hello Mr.Dinkar, Thank you for your question. Please note that ActCAD is a CAD software meant for 2D Drafting and 3D unparametric modeling. Our BIM version supports the creation of 3D Architectural elements like Walls, Doors, Windows etc. ActCAD doesn't have any Analysis (CAE) capabilities. CFD is not supported. We have created LHV sections program inside ActCAD as requested by you few years back.

Question on: ActCAD BIM

How can I get some of my old lisp routines to work. They don't work well with ActCAD.

I paid for a program to have developed for me that sets grades and elevations, similar to what Civil 3D does, but much more simple. It partially works ok in ACTCAD. It would be a great add on to what I can do if I could use it better. It's also free if anyone wishes to use it. They just can't make any money off of it without compensating me.

Hi David, thank you for your valuable inputs. Please share the details of your programs we will try to improve them and add to ActCAD package. Please note that, we do not prefer LISP programs internally as it has several limitations. We will see the possibility to rewrite your codes in MFC VC++ and build them as irx programs. They will be much faster. Once again, thank you for choosing ActCAD.

Good Day, Yes, you can't use your old (AutoCAD) Lisp in ActCAD directly. Because some of the internal command options are vary from AutoCAD to ActCAD. For Example refer "Layer" command options. If you are a Lisp programmer you can find out the differences.

Please note that many LISP programs (.lsp) can be directly executed inside ActCAD. If you get any error, you need to debug the code where it is failing. As mentioned by another member, some of our commands and LISP functions are slightly different. Also, note that we do not support .fas programs to execute inside ActCAD. We use our own (protect) function to encrypt LISP source codes.
