Yes, you can definitely use mysql with vscode! I'm most-familiar in using mysql with back-end Web dev, and to use it I include Node Packages (NPM) with a "require" call in server scripts, and an install on the command line ("npm install mysql"). There is a lot of documentation on this in Stackoverflow as well.

What is the best environment to develop java?
Eclipse is the best option, do not waste time using any other.

Hi, it depends if you want a free version or not.
I would suggest IntelliJ Ultimate because the community edition is very limited but the ultimate is not free.
Eclipse is free and fits very well also, maven is installed by default, J2EE features are also available and the marketplace contains a lot of useful plugins.

According to me, i think Eclipse is the best development environment as you can just not only work with JAVA but also with other languages. It is an open source tool with many useful plugins and features.
