The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Accounting
Accounting is one of the most important, yet daunting and expensive departments in almost all companies.
Accountants oversee all financial operations of a business to help it run smoothly and efficiently. These include preparing and analyzing financial statements (e.g., cash flow, income statement, balance sheet), paying taxes on time, and maintaining the companies’ general ledger (GL). All these tasks require a great deal of human interaction that takes time and money; no matter how careful an employee may be, there is always the chance for human error, which could snowball and lead to devastating financial results in the future.

Question on: OfficeTools by CARET
Are other firms having problems with Work in Process and Accounts Receivable reports.
Hello Ronald,
We don't use the accounts receivable function, however the returns for sales reports work really well. The WIP I haven't seen any issues with it, but it can be very complex, depending on how much you want it to do. We try to keep our very simple.

Currently, we are having issues with just about every part of the billing/AR parts of the software.

We use all of the features of Office Tools, we have not had any issues with the A/R report, sales, or the W.I.P. report. I will agree with Greg that it can be complex. If you miss one of the steps it can cause the reports to be incorrect.

Question on: OfficeTools by CARET
Would you recommend to switching to cloud base system?
We are trying to be a cloud base firm, and would like to know more about how it works.

Yes, I would. We resisted having our paperless storage in the cloud but the problem is that there is no new development for desktop platforms. All of the top programmers want to work with cloud-based technologies so all tech companies are moving there or they lose their talent base. If you don't move, all the new ideas and related efficiencies will move without you. I know this because our firm started a tech company last year for workflow we patented, we have to sync with QB Desktop for our platform and I quickly learned that there is nobody doing anything on the desktop, including QuickBooks. www.bacotech.com

Yes, I would go to the cloud-based as you are given an added layer of security for one thing. Another benefit is that you can work from anywhere.
One word of caution. I would ensure that you have an internet connection that is fast, and good hardware that is up to date to ensure adequate speed, otherwise you could get frustrated.

I think this is a complex question, that has many variables that you need to look at. Cloud-Based software is definitely a trend that will only pick up speed. You should consider:
Type: As mentioned in another comment, you can either switch to Software as a Service, which is a platform that provides all of the software you are using to you and your employees.
You can use a virtual hosting platform, this is essentially a virtual machine that has versions of your desktop software installed on it.
You can also use a Hybrid Platform that syncs your local data and software to a cloud-based system.
Cost: I can tell you that our firm has Proseries from 1999 - 2015, then Lacerte to present. Many providers will charge you by the application. Typically it will be a package that includes X applications, and everything over that you need to pay extra. Depending on the size of your firm, this could make it cost-prohibitive.
There is more to think about, however, I don't want to post a dissertation. If you want to further discuss, let me know.

Question on: NetSuite
How would it be possible for me to add categories to many different inventory items all at once?
Through CSV imports it is possible to create a large number of items all at once, but I have had problems adding multiple items to a single category and I am not sure how to do it. I've tried using both the category's and the item's internal ID but with no success.

Are you receiving some error response?, because this is the best process, utilice Internal ids. Other question did you create the field for category?
