# How would it be possible for me to add categories to many different inventory items all at once?

Through CSV imports it is possible to create a large number of items all at once, but I have had problems adding multiple items to a single category and I am not sure how to do it. I've tried using both the category's and the item's internal ID but with no success.

Are you receiving some error response?, because this is the best process, utilice Internal ids. Other question did you create the field for category?

Hi Marisol! Thank you for replying.The error I get when using an item's internal ID to try and add a category to the item using the category's internal ID is as follows: Invalid category reference key "509".  509 is the internal ID of the category to my knowledge.
