How does Google Analytics attribution work?

Google Analytics attribution is a feature that helps businesses understand the impact of their advertising efforts by assigning credit to different touchpoints in the customer journey. It works by tracking the interactions that customers have with a business's website and ads, and then analyzing the data to determine the role that each touchpoint played in the conversion.
There are several attribution models available in Google Analytics, including:
Last click: This model assigns 100% of the credit for a conversion to the last ad or click that the customer interacted with before converting.
First click: This model assigns 100% of the credit for a conversion to the first ad or click that the customer interacted with.
Linear: This model assigns equal credit to each touchpoint in the customer journey.
Time decay: This model assigns more credit to touchpoints that are closer in time to the conversion.
Data-driven: This model uses machine learning algorithms to analyze the interactions that customers have with a business's website and ads, and then assigns credit to each touchpoint in the customer journey based on the likelihood that it influenced the conversion.
Google Analytics also provides a visualization of the customer journey, allowing businesses to see how customers interact with their website and ads over time. This information can be used to make informed marketing decisions, optimize advertising spend, and improve the overall performance of their campaigns.
