Initially some business setting that handles the complete life-cycle of your projects from start to finish. Our organization used IBM Rational Test Manager and IBM Rational Functional Tester. We improved the IBM Rational functional analyzer to integrate and use selenium instead of IBM's proprietary object recognition technology. At this stage, we continued to use IBM Rational test manager to drive our selenium scripts. To move to the next stage and eliminate interface with IBM Rational test manager and thus save money, we tried X studio. It was a phenomenal fit and we were up and running in under 3 days. The product designers had direct insight into our new feature requests and sometimes when we asked for something it was granted within 2 days in a new version (not just for us but for the entire community). Best of all, the paid version was only 8 USD per license and even the free one had a simple ad banner (that hardly hurts and thus was not very distracting). This was an amazing change compared to how IBM Rational would charge several thousand dollars for support that hardly matched X studio levels. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There were some good features of IBM Rational test manager and the way we wrote our tests that we got too used to. It took a slight tuning for X studio to fit into our specific situation. While not bad at all, X Studio can continue to try to adapt to a very lightweight, easy-to-use, and change method for organizing test cases in folders, and associating them with builds or runs. The specifics of what is ideal are difficult to gather as each team has its own needs.
