I use Xcode every day as a software developer working with React Native, and it's the backbone of everything we ship on iOS. The simulator is fast and makes it easy to test across different devices and iOS versions, and the debugger, Instruments and console logs make it much simpler to track down native issues that don't show up on the JavaScript side. Managing signing, capabilities and provisioning from one place saves a lot of time, and archiving and uploading builds to App Store Connect is straightforward. Overall it's a polished, complete toolset that we depend on for every release. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Xcode is a very large download, and updates take a long time to install, sometimes right when you need to ship. Clean builds of bigger React Native projects can be slow, and when native dependencies or CocoaPods get out of sync, the error messages aren't always clear about what went wrong. It also only runs on macOS, which limits flexibility for the team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
