## Worldpay Reviews
  ### 1. Predatory Processor for Small Business

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 19, 2026

**What do you like best about Worldpay?**

The chat support was helpful 50% of the time

**What do you dislike about Worldpay?**

Horrible experience. We had them since the mid 2010s through Fifth Third. Previous management wanted to add a virtual terminal. Instead of modifying the existing account, Worldpay opened a new account and continued charging us ~$100/mo for the old account (this was missed by our previous management for about 6 years). When I pressed Worldpay about why they would think it's okay to open up a second account like that, they refused to take any responsibility or pay anything back. This was nearly $10000. It's backbreaking for a small business like ours. Worldpay couldn't even produce the contract for the second account to prove they were legally allowed to withdraw money from our account. The rep essentially admitted they could not prove they had any claim to the money they took and that the second account should never have been opened. He even used the phrase "this isn't a court of law" when I told him the burden of proof lied on them to produce the contract.

Additionally, their early termination fees are ridiculous - they look at the past year, take the 3 months where you paid the most fees, and average them. You then have to pay that amount times the number of months left on your contract. Absurd when respectable processors are month-to-month these days. Avoid at all costs.

**What problems is Worldpay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None

  ### 2. Disappointing Experience—Nothing to Love

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** mike s. | president, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2025

**What do you like best about Worldpay?**

nothing - they failed on every level of business

**What do you dislike about Worldpay?**

There were excessive fees, and they withheld my money. I also encountered fraudulent statements and omissions during the sign-up process.

**What problems is Worldpay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a small business owner, when it came time to review my payment processor, Worldpay presented me with what seemed like a great offer. Unfortunately, I didn't do enough research. Many other processors can match or even beat the rates Worldpay offers, so their pricing alone isn't a reason to choose them. Additionally, if their system flags anything as a potential 'risk,' they will withhold your funds and demand additional documentation, such as bank statements. Despite having no chargebacks in ten years and my bank confirming this, Worldpay still insisted on more information. When I refused, it took months to recover the money they held under 'risk management.' The salesperson never disclosed how strict Worldpay's risk management is or that they would require bank statements. Had I known about these practices, I would never have signed up. I feel misled by the salesperson, but I don't have the means to pursue this further. After making 20 to 25 calls and sending numerous emails, I finally got my money back, but it was a huge waste of time. If you're considering Worldpay, make sure to thoroughly research other options before signing anything. In the end, I found a much better deal elsewhere.

  ### 3. Business Owners Beware: Worldpay Can Drop You Overnight

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian M. | Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 27, 2025

**What do you like best about Worldpay?**

We had used Worldpay for over a decade, and during routine operations, their service was largely reliable in terms of basic card processing. The terminal hardware was straightforward, and daily settlements typically arrived on time — until a single issue revealed how fragile that reliability really was.

Unfortunately, that long-standing relationship meant very little when we faced a challenging situation. Worldpay's inability (or unwillingness) to handle it fairly has completely overshadowed any positives.

**What do you dislike about Worldpay?**

After being a loyal customer of Worldpay for over a decade, I was shocked at how they handled a single complex situation: no accountability, no transparency — just instant termination and withholding of our funds.

We had trusted Worldpay with our entire payment system. Yet the moment a situation required professionalism and support, they vanished. Emails ignored. Phone support deflective. And worst of all — they kept the money from processed transactions they themselves approved.

This is not how a responsible payment provider behaves.

If you’re a business relying on steady cashflow and honest service, be very careful before putting your trust in them.

There are better, more transparent alternatives out there. I regret giving them 10 years of trust.

**What problems is Worldpay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Payment Processing

  ### 4. Awful Service. Run from WorldPay

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian D. | General Manager, Industrial Automation, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Worldpay?**

I was led to believe that WorldPay offered the lowest credit card processing rates in the industry and had world-class customer service. Too bad neither was true.

**What do you dislike about Worldpay?**

WorldPay offers low processing rates and then tacks on miscellaneous service fees that increase your effective rate to more than 4%. When you contact customer service, they ignore your emails and refuse to cancel your account.

**What problems is Worldpay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WorldPay was not able to provide us any benefits.

  ### 5. Easy to use

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cardi G. | Salesperson, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 28, 2025

**What do you like best about Worldpay?**

The program displays payments by date and time, which makes them easy to search for

**What do you dislike about Worldpay?**

Had an issue connecting our devices, took some time and had to call customer service for help.

**What problems is Worldpay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It keeps payments organized by time which helps us keep track of payments that are done out of the office, that helps us track the day.

  ### 6. Comedy of errors

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Wholesale | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 08, 2025

**What do you like best about Worldpay?**

Nothing. It has been an ongoing comedy of errors to get this implemented.

**What do you dislike about Worldpay?**

They created the MID in wrong country. They didn't provide documentation, then they repeatedly provided incomplete documentation. Then they forgot to switch on Certegy verification.
We only found out about eCheck transaction limits when the customer's payment failed.

**What problems is Worldpay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It should allow us to take eCheck and Credit Card payments, but the implementation process has been EXTREMELY painful.

  ### 7. Payment processing scam

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pavel B. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2023

**What do you like best about Worldpay?**

Everything starts off perfectly legally: you sign a contract, pass a background check, sign a contract and start working.

**What do you dislike about Worldpay?**

Then you start making payments, and the company waits for you to accumulate a sufficient amount on your balance. After that, your account will be blocked forever and the money will be appropriated in favor of WorldPay. To your requests to return the money to customers, the company will reply with a sneering refusal.

However, after our many complaints, the FCA will look into this office of scammers, called WorldPay by FIS. Justice will prevail even for the best of cheats!

**What problems is Worldpay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They provide payment processing services

  ### 8. Critical payment processing issue

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Charles A. | President, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2022

**What do you like best about Worldpay?**

I believe their pricing is competitive and I actually get money that my business generates.

**What do you dislike about Worldpay?**

I have had ongoing an consistent issues that tech support cannot resolve. It's incredibly difficult to get in touch with representatives who can resolve issues and I'm often disconnected which requires hours on the phone to resolve. Recently, I've had a week of consistent payment processing issues which is losing my business money. I was supposed to receive an urgent equipment replacement today that didn't arrive. After hours on the phone with Worldpay, I'm not sure even if the equipment has been ordered or shipped. This isssue is crippling my business.

**What problems is Worldpay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They do process payments when equipment works.

  ### 9. Worst company I’ve dealt with in 23 years.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Worldpay?**

Unfortunately there's little to be positive about with Worldpay.

**What do you dislike about Worldpay?**

Archaic systems, disorganised, unhelpful staff, high level of outages with no compensation for commercial losses.

Corporate support department is the worst. They don't even know who they're managing. Zero communication with other departments.

Also if you want to complain. Good luck

**What problems is Worldpay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They provide a way of taking payments from customers

  ### 10. Too Big to Succeed

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Recreational Facilities and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 28, 2022

**What do you like best about Worldpay?**

I honestly can't say anything about WorldPay that is easy or intuitive or useful or helpful. Franz Kafka would have been impressed by the byzantine bureaucratic despair. Here are some guesses at what could be interpreted as positives if you are one of those people who enjoy reframing things.

Maybe you enjoy listening to insipid hold music. Then WorldPay is the company for you because you will be on hold a LOT waiting for customer service to help you fix the thing that WorldPay has repeatedly broken.

OR maybe you enjoy the excitement of speaking to two different tech support agents who tell you the COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THINGS and leave you to determine which one is right.
OR maybe you want an onboarding process where your liaison puts all the wrong information in and then takes months to rectify their own mistakes.
OR maybe you DON'T want the ability to change your security settings for verifying credit card purchases, thereby allowing thousands of dollars in fraudulent claims to flow freely
OR maybe you appreciate the potential windfall from WorldPay double charging your clients on monthly fees and then making you jump through time-consuming, labor-intensive hoops to undo their mistake
OR maybe you want access to a gift card system that will break down in the middle of your Black Friday sale and then completely botch the fulfillment such that half your customers don't receive the physical OR virtual gift cards
OR maybe you enjoy hearing from your Relationship Manager that all of the problems you've been meticulously documenting were ACTUALLY caused by some other third-party system that has nothing to do with the problem

I could go on and on. I have wasted countless hours navigating WP's various portals and customer service offerings, and with a few notable exceptions, they are universally terrible and their left hand never seems to know what their right hand is doing.

I'm not familiar with any other cc processors. When I started, we used WP for cc and Authorize as the gateway, then WP told us they had their own gateway that would save us money. The moment we made the switch our problems started and have only compounded over time.

I know WorldPay is the leader in credit card processing but do NOT use them if you can avoid it. They have done SO much damage to our company and my job has almost become full-time "deal with WorldPay nonsense."

**What do you dislike about Worldpay?**

Everything. Everything is terrible, starting and ending with customer service. We've had disaster after disaster after disaster since switching from Authorize to WP as our payment gateway. WP looks good on paper, but in practice it performs like a lumbering behemoth riddled with fleas and lice who's learning to juggle.

There are just a lot of things about WorldPay that are broken, but their customer service is the canary in the coal mine. Every time you call, they screen you. That's fine, as we all want security, but aside from the Merchant ID, the other "secure" information is the publicly-available address or phone number. I'm not sure how that's making these calls more secure. After the screening, you will sit on hold anywhere from 15 minutes (a good day) up to 120 minutes (my personal best). You may have to hold longer, as it is a crap shoot whether the person you are speaking to is willing or able to help you. And, yes, I have had customer service agents who were clearly just trying to get me off the phone as soon as possible. A few agents are AMAZING and will bend over backward to help you.

Due to an issue unrelated to WorldPay (one of the few ... sidenote, ask me about our horrible experience with CenterEdge!), we've had to issue multiple refunds for memberships and some of the WorldPay tech support agents will only issue up to 10 refunds when you call and others will issue 5,832 separate refunds because they're just so nice. Then you get the guy who INSISTS that they aren't allowed to issue any refunds at all and you end up arguing with him for 20 minutes because he's trying to gaslight you over what previous agents have done.

A company with terrible tech support/customer service is fine IF you don't need their help that often.
A company with a terrible system is fine IF they have great tech support/customer service to help you.
A company with a terrible system AND terrible tech support/customer service is WorldPay.

Don't do this to yourself. There have to be better options.

**Recommendations to others considering Worldpay:**

Only use WorldPay as a last resort. And even then, you'd be better off going cash only.

**What problems is Worldpay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problems we are having include gift card fulfillment, gift card functionality, duplicate charges, regular crashes, comically bad customer service, weak credit card fraud prevention, repeated onboarding errors that disrupt a smooth transaction, inability to identify IP addresses for fraudulent charges after 30 days, and SO MUCH MORE!

The benefits we have realized is that we now understand what a massive mistake it was to sign a WorldPay contract.
