## WordPress.org Reviews
 ### 1. Flexible and Powerful, but Plugin Updates Can Impact Performance

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Martin R. | Web & Graphic Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 13, 2026

**What do you like best about WordPress.org?**

It’s an ideal platform for building a website and having full control over it. I think one of the things I like most about WordPress is its ability to be customized through custom code and plugins, which greatly improve usability. Additionally, integration with plugins like Elementor makes it an incredibly powerful tool, with great opportunities for small to medium-sized websites.

**What do you dislike about WordPress.org?**

Often, performance can be affected when using plugins, and I think updates sometimes cause different versions to conflict. This ends up creating issues on the website and negatively impacting the user experience.

**What problems is WordPress.org solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Personally, I’m not an expert web developer, although I do know some code. Today, with the help of AI, I can build WordPress websites that meet my clients’ requirements without needing to hire an external developer. As a web designer, and with plugins like Elementor, I can create sites that not only look good but also perform well. I’m able to handle everything myself without relying on others or increasing the final cost for the client.

 ### 2. Best Open Source Tool for Website Design and Development

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Somnath J. | Founder, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 11, 2025

**What do you like best about WordPress.org?**

I am reviewing it after developing 100s wordpress websites since last 15 years. WordPress is a free, open-source platform designed for building websites, making it suitable for businesses of all sizes. Its user-friendly interface and straightforward setup process make it especially accessible for beginners.

**What do you dislike about WordPress.org?**

Many WordPress websites tend to load slowly, often because of the poor code quality found in some themes and plugins. Additionally, if plugins and themes are not kept up to date, they can become a source of malware and vulnerabilities. WordPress websites are usually soft target for hackers.

**What problems is WordPress.org solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WordPress offers free, open-source code that allows you to create professional websites, which can result in significant cost savings. The availability of ready-made WordPress themes also helps save a great deal of time and effort, as you don't have to repeatedly develop complex code from scratch. With WordPress, there is no need to learn advanced coding skills to build a website.

 ### 3. Full Control and Scalability with WordPress.org’s Powerful Plugin Ecosystem

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Prashant D. | Senior Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2026

**What do you like best about WordPress.org?**

WordPress.org is highly flexible and gives full control over website customization, hosting, and functionality.

The plugin ecosystem and block editor (Gutenberg) are what I use most regularly, especially for quickly building and updating pages. The drag-and-drop block-based editing saves a lot of time, as I can create and restructure layouts without needing to touch code.

I also use theme customization and plugins for SEO, caching, and forms, which makes it easy to manage everything in one place. This has significantly improved my workflow by reducing dependency on developers for small changes.

An unexpected benefit has been how scalable it is — I can start with a simple site and gradually add advanced functionality without rebuilding the platform.

**What do you dislike about WordPress.org?**

Plugin and theme compatibility can sometimes be inconsistent, leading to unexpected conflicts or site issues after updates. This can slow down workflow because troubleshooting and fixing breaks takes additional time and effort.

The Gutenberg block editor, while improving, can still feel limited for more complex layouts compared to modern page builders. This sometimes forces reliance on third-party plugins.

It would be helpful if WordPress offered more built-in stability checks before updates and a more intuitive native design experience to reduce dependency on external tools.

**What problems is WordPress.org solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before using WordPress.org, we struggled with building and maintaining websites that required heavy developer involvement for even small updates, which slowed down content delivery and increased costs.

We struggled with dependency on custom development for every change, but now we can independently create, update, and manage pages using themes and plugins, which has resulted in faster publishing cycles and reduced development effort.

Overall, it has improved productivity significantly, saving both time and cost (roughly 30–50% faster content updates) while giving full control over website management.

 ### 4. Easy to Learn, Great for Everyday Use, Affordable Pricing & Justified ROI

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pranav M. | Content Manager , Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2026

**What do you like best about WordPress.org?**

It is very basic and easy to learn and use. It may look poor in UI but it is not overwhelming for a beginner or daily users.
It enables you to segregate your content into posts, portfolios and pages. It also allows thirdparty integrations to connect to your wordpress site so that you know that they are not spam or bad. It has very good speed and cache can be controlled. It costs only 7680INR for an entire year which is very good compared to other platforms.

**What do you dislike about WordPress.org?**

UI could be made more user friendly as in the prima facie it looks very complicated. Also help and support could be made better. It is important that the UI and the accessibility of each feature can provide much more audience to this platform.

**What problems is WordPress.org solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Wordpress is a website hosting platform that allows people even the ones without technical knowledge to manage and maintain a full fledge website for their use at a pace that is easy to skill up. I use wordpress on a daily basis to for publishing content to my employer websites.

 ### 5. Clean, Customizable UI with a Generous Free Plan and Strong Performance

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicholas H. | Manufacturing Technical Specialist II, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2026

**What do you like best about WordPress.org?**

I love how much you can personalize each website. Being able to date photos and posts from previous months and years is also really helpful for building a historical archive. The website UI is clean, intuitive, and easy to use. On top of that, the free plan is generous and includes a lot of features. I find the overall performance of the website to be good even if it's full of photos and videos.

**What do you dislike about WordPress.org?**

I always felt my website was a bit isolated and it's difficult to browse other websites. I also feel there should be ways to advertise your site through wordpress for free.

**What problems is WordPress.org solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Wordpress is consistent, it doesn't change much and when it does it's almost always a change that the community has been asking for. Therefore, I find the 'problem' this solves is that many other sites love to 'fix' things that don't need fixing.

 ### 6. Best Open-Source Solution for Full Website Control

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Md Mizanur A. | Software Engineer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 18, 2026

**What do you like best about WordPress.org?**

WordPress.org offers excellent flexibility and full control over website design and functionality. It has a huge library of themes and plugins, making it easy to customize any type of website from blogs to business sites. The platform is SEO-friendly, scalable, and supported by a large global community, which makes finding tutorials and solutions very easy. It also integrates well with many third-party tools and services.

**What do you dislike about WordPress.org?**

WordPress.org can have a learning curve for beginners, especially when it comes to hosting setup, security, and maintenance. Managing plugins and updates can sometimes cause compatibility issues. Unlike hosted platforms, it requires more technical knowledge and responsibility for backups and performance optimization. Customer support is not centralized, so users rely mostly on community forums.

**What problems is WordPress.org solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WordPress.org solves the problem of limited control and customization when it comes to building websites by giving users complete ownership over their site and its functionality. Unlike many hosted platforms, it allows me to customize everything from design to features using themes, plugins, and custom code. This allows me to create a website that suits my needs, whether it's for blogging, business, or e-commerce, which is convenient for me. It also helps reduce long-term costs and avoid platform limitations, while also giving me the flexibility to adjust and integrate with other tools as my needs grow.

 ### 7. Seamless Integrations and a Future-Proof Platform

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mudit J. | IT Executive, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2026

**What do you like best about WordPress.org?**

The ability to integrate is what sold us. There are no problems with compatibility when we connect our Tidio chat, accounting software, and CRM tools. This platform is very "future-proof." When our organisation adds new services, we can just add the features we need to the site instead of having to start over from scratch.

**What do you dislike about WordPress.org?**

It is definitely harder to learn than "drag-and-drop" builders. You have to take care of your own backups and security updates because it is self-hosted. If you don't keep up with plugin updates, things can break or become less secure. This can be stressful if you're not very tech-savvy.

**What problems is WordPress.org solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It lets us have a high-end web presence without the high-end cost of a site that is coded just for us. It lets us control our own content; once the site is built, it's easy to change the descriptions of our Marketing or Business Management services, so we don't have to hire a developer for every little thing.

 ### 8. Versatile Platform with Great Customization, Needs Maintenance

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Walid B. | Freelance Graphic Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2026

**What do you like best about WordPress.org?**

I use WordPress.org to build and manage websites with full control over customization, which gives me the flexibility to install plugins, adjust themes, and optimize everything the way I want without the limitations of hosted platforms. What I like most about WordPress.org is the freedom to customize everything exactly the way I want. I also like the huge library of plugins and themes, making it easy to build almost everything, and the level of control over the site is something most platforms can't match. The initial setup was very easy; everything was clear, and anyone could build their websites easily.

**What do you dislike about WordPress.org?**

The main thing that doesn't work as well for me is how maintenance heavy WordPress.org can be. Managing updates, plugins, security, and performance sometimes takes more time than expected. A few plugins also conflict with each other, which can cause small issues that need troubleshooting. When plugins conflict, it usually slows down my workflow because certain features stop working or pages don't load correctly.

**What problems is WordPress.org solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use WordPress.org to build and manage websites with full control over customization, solving the problem of building a fully customizable site without platform limitations.

 ### 9. Flexible, Fully Customisable Websites with WordPress.org

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lauren M. | Marketing Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 12, 2026

**What do you like best about WordPress.org?**

What I like best about WordPress.org is its flexibility and control. It allows us to fully customise websites with thousands of plugins and themes, optimise for SEO, and scale functionality as needed without being restricted by a closed platform.

**What do you dislike about WordPress.org?**

What I dislike about WordPress.org is that managing updates, plugins, and security can be time-consuming, especially when multiple plugins are involved. It can also require more technical oversight compared to fully hosted platforms to ensure performance, compatibility, and security are maintained.

**What problems is WordPress.org solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WordPress.org solves the challenge of creating and managing a fully customisable website without needing to build everything from scratch. It provides a flexible content management system that allows users to easily publish content, manage pages, and extend functionality through plugins and themes.

This benefits us by enabling fast website development, full control over design and functionality, and the ability to scale or adapt the site as business needs evolve.

 ### 10. Flexible Platform with Great Community Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rafał M. | Vice President, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2026

**What do you like best about WordPress.org?**

I use WordPress.org for running all my websites and blogs. I appreciate being able to create complete websites with multiple free plugins and themes. The Gutenberg editor allows me to modify the entire layout easily. I find the community support to be superior, and I love the flexibility and performance. The ease of installing and managing everything is also a big plus. I value the wide variety of plugins available, which I use extensively. The initial setup was super easy thanks to the great installation wizard.

**What do you dislike about WordPress.org?**

It consumes a lot of time to find a solution when something is broken. Another thing is security; because of its popularity, WordPress is attacked all the time, so a firewall plugin is a must.

**What problems is WordPress.org solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can create a complete website with free plugins and themes. The Gutenberg editor helps me modify the entire layout.
