"WinSCP’s Clean, Windows-Like Interface Makes FTP and Editing Effortless"

What do you like best about WinSCP?

I loved the interface, very clean and easy to use, previously I used Filezilla, it's a bit complicated. WinSCP makes work very easy, no need to log in to the server again and again, simply use FTP through WinSCP and edit your code. The drag and drop option works very smoothly, it feels like it's made for Windows since it has the same environment as Windows OS. Managing multiple FTPs under the same software is like reducing my headache, and adjusting settings according to one's needs is also good. For example, if you use a particular code editor, in settings, you can select one, and by default, it opens files in the same editor or IDE. As soon as we save the file, it not only saves but also uploads the updated file. It also remembers which directory is related to which on the local PC. As soon as we connect FTP, it loads its linked folder on the left. It is super easy and user-friendly, the best in the market, I believe. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about WinSCP?

I love all the features it provides, but there are many which sometimes create a bad experience, like its platform restrictions; it should be available for Mac also. Downloading heavy files takes a lot of time, even a 100MB file takes a lot when I download it from the server using WinSCP, this thing irritates me a lot. Sometimes permission issues also make work complex. While uploading large projects, it disconnects, and again I need to reconnect it. It needs user attention while working on heavy files, which I feel should be improved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is WinSCP solving and how is that benefiting you?

Handling a bulk of FTPs in a single place makes it my first choice. As said earlier, opening the server again and again to upload updated files, WinSCP makes it very easy, saving lots of time. Opening files by integrating directly into the desired editor like I do in Notepad++, makes my task easy. Creating multiple folders under the same software also helps; otherwise, there will be a big list of FTPs, and one has to search and connect, but here it provides the option to store it in a particular folder. I love the click and drag option, and it works very smoothly, giving me a different vibe, one side local system and the other side online files, it makes my work easy. A well-organized folder view makes it good. One of the best parts is I don't need to remember all the passwords; it gives me the option to store them, saving huge time. Clicking on a particular FTP online and on the other side, it opens its path in htdocs is also good, and it's free, I don't have to pay anything. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
