"Windsurf Supercharged My Playwright Workflow with Context-Aware AI"

What do you like best about Windsurf?

What I like most about Windsurf, now rebranded as Devin Desktop, is how naturally the AI fits into my development workflow. I mainly use it for Playwright with TypeScript automation, and it has saved me a lot of time while creating new test cases, updating existing ones, fixing locators, and understanding an unfamiliar codebase. Instead of constantly switching between the IDE and a browser, I can stay inside the IDE and get useful code suggestions, explanations, and refactoring help.

The Cascade AI feature has been the biggest highlight for me. It understands the project context really well and can work across multiple files, which is very useful when making changes to an automation framework. It doesn't just generate code, it also explains the changes, making it easier to understand and review before using them.

The UI is clean and easy to get used to, especially if you've worked with VS Code before. Performance has been solid with my Playwright projects, and Git integration, terminal access, extensions, and debugging are all available in one place, so my workflow feels smooth from start to finish.

Overall, it's one of those tools that genuinely helps me get more done in less time. The AI capabilities combined with the familiar IDE experience have made it my preferred environment for Playwright and TypeScript development, and I feel it offers excellent value for the productivity gains it provides. What do you dislike about Windsurf?

Honestly, I don’t have many complaints because my overall experience has been really good. If I had to point out something, it’s that the AI suggestions sometimes miss the exact context—especially when I’m working on a large Playwright project with a lot of files. When that happens, I usually add a bit more context or rephrase my prompt, and it gets back on track.

Since new features are added pretty often, there are times when the UI changes a little between updates, so it takes some time to get used to where everything is. Aside from these small things, I haven’t run into anything that has truly affected my day-to-day work. Overall, the productivity gains are much bigger than these minor issues. What problems is Windsurf solving and how is that benefiting you?

It has helped me speed up my Playwright and TypeScript automation work quite a bit. Instead of spending so much time writing repetitive code, creating new test cases, fixing locators, or trying to understand an existing framework, I can use the AI to get a solid starting point and then fine-tune it based on what I actually need.

It’s also especially useful when I’m working in a large codebase. The AI seems to understand the project context much better than a typical code assistant, so it can suggest changes across multiple files, explain existing code, and support refactoring without me having to manually trace everything end to end.

The biggest benefit for me is the time it saves every day. I spend less time on repetitive coding and more time focusing on test design, debugging, and validating the final implementation.
