I seriously considered and gave thought to more things that I like about WileyPlus, but I honestly couldn't say there was anything else good worth noting. **What do you dislike about WileyPLUS?** - I'm going to start with the intro video. It says "24-hour live support". Not true. I tried to contact them and you have to first fill out a questionnaire (which is reasonable) but instead of directing you to a live chat/call, it shows a screen that says something along the lines of "we will look into this problem". - The slide shows that they provide for you about the lesson barely help with the graded problems/test. Sometimes you can see what you did wrong, sometimes you can't. During one of my lessons, there was a decent amount of information that was left out, which made me struggle with the multi-step accounting dropdowns. - Another thing is they make you do an insane amount of work on ONE question, rather than spacing them into different questions. The questions take a long time, and instead of giving you a variety of questions, WileyPlus repeatedly asks you the same type of questions (ex. how to fill out a balance sheet, income statement, etc). This often occurs on the tests, elongating the time you spend taking it. Another thing about the tests is it's only about 25% of the material you covered in a chapter and it happens to be the hardest 25%. - Also, when filling out the balance sheet, income statement, and retained earnings, for example, you have to do simple math. The hardest the math gets is 1000 + or - 1000. It would save a lot of time if WileyPlus did the simple math for you, as actual accountants have programs that do the math for them. - One other thing I'd like to add is they overcomplicate what you are learning. Instead of teaching the correct, direct way, they take turns and spin easily-explainable terms/topics into something more complicated and confusing than it has to be. - My peers who use WileyPlus (including myself) are constantly doing work and not understanding the topics. A studious person like myself and some of my peers go back and rewatch the slide presentations and example problems provided by WileyPlus, continuing to not understand most of the topic. I've even turned to a tutor (who is an accountant) who has helped a great deal and explains things in a more direct, easy-to-understand way. I hope whoever is reading this takes serious consideration in using WileyPlus. I'm not saying this program has to be perfect and understand fully that programs such as these cannot be perfect, but WileyPlus has to make extraordinary changes into making itself halfway decent. There is a bunch of little things that I will not get into because I don't want to nit-pick, but if you are a professor/teacher, it will not only save your students time, effort and a ton of stress, but they will not fully learn Accounting if you use WileyPlus. **What problems is WileyPLUS solving and how is that benefiting you?** WileyPlus have not solved any noticeable problems whilst I've been apart of this program. ### 2. The best way I can describe my Wiley relationship is as a Partnership. **What do you dislike about WileyPLUS?** I have a large class, 1,700+ students a semester, so sometimes I run into some unique situations or issues. Wiley has my back and gets me to support ASAP to address the situation and to mitigate the issue. I feel like with any provider there are going to be bumps in the road but with Wiley, they make it as smooth as possible. **What problems is WileyPLUS solving and how is that benefiting you?** By using the WileyPLUS system it allows us to use the Textbook homework, and provide the students with many additional learning resources (such as Adaptive Practice) that we would not be able to offer otherwise. ### 3. Last year, I taught two different sessions of an Accounting Course. One was asychronous and one was synchronous. The nice thing is you can build modules and set hyperlinks for the students to specific sections of the text. WileyPlus also provides a ton of assignments, question banks, and practice problems. This was my first class and I couldn't have done it without Wiley. **What do you dislike about WileyPLUS?** The only thing that I did not like was some of the Excel assignment problems were very rigid. I had several students complain that the formulas they entered into the spreadsheet should have been marked correct, but due to a very slight formula difference, they were incorrect. I also had several students have problems when uploading spreadsheet assignments to WileyPlus. They would get notifications that their assignments had been flagged for cheating. I would have to intervene much too often. **Recommendations to others considering WileyPLUS:** If you are teaching a college course and you have the opportunity to use WileyPlus, I strongly recommend it. The powerpoint presentations are prepared for you for lectures. There are plenty of sample questions and problems that can be assigned from the question bank. Wiley will even grade them for you. This was my first time teaching and WileyPlus made it a much more enjoyable experience. Doing all this work manually would have been extremely time consuming as I also work full time. Pretty awesome product for students and professors. **What problems is WileyPLUS solving and how is that benefiting you?** WileyPlus made teaching my first two accounting courses at the college level actually managable. I do not think I could have done it without having access to all the resources Wiley provided. WileyPlus not only provides a ton of resources and helpful information for the students, but for the professors as well. Wiley provided conceptual guidlines for each chapter and useful suggestions on how to structure lectures. ### 4. WileyPlus has helped me a lot in getting closer to my goal of getting students to read the assigned chapters by making WileyPlus’ adaptive practices as part of the grade. The adaptive practices Wiley developed are unique and set themselves apart from other publishers. If students try to attempt to complete the questions found in adaptive practices without reading the corresponding chapters, they will have a hard time receiving the full credit. A student who is well prepared when starting the adaptive practices, will be able to identify the concepts they are still struggling with and which concepts they have mastered. In contrast, a student who is struggling with a particular concept, may be prompted to review and answer questions related to earlier concepts relevant to the current concepts. For example, a student struggling with the physiological changes related to stress, may be prompted to review concepts first introduced in the biology chapter to ensure that they have mastered the concept. This approach set WileyPlus apart from any other publishers.Wiley is family-owned company and these family values show at all levels. Once I adopted the title, I was assigned a costumer success manager as well as a digital learning executive. Both are an integral part and ensure that the switch is an easy and pleasant experience. I have seen students’ performance increase since requiring the adaptive practices. I just finished my first 8-week section and was pleasantly surprised when I am assigning final grades. I didn’t have any Ds or Fs. **What do you dislike about WileyPLUS?** That WileyPlus is not that compatible with Safari. **Recommendations to others considering WileyPLUS:** You won't regret making the switch. **What problems is WileyPLUS solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am struggling with students to read the chapters. WileyPLUS Review **Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Joseph S. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** March 11, 2020 **What do you like best about WileyPLUS?** I like the multiple ways that students and faculty can use so many different tools to enhance learning. **What do you dislike about WileyPLUS?** When I am in WileyPLUS and I want to go back to a previous page by clicking on the "go back" arrow on the top of the screen WileyPLUS takes me out of its system. **Recommendations to others considering WileyPLUS:** WileyPLUS is a high quality, reliable product that is easy to use. **What problems is WileyPLUS solving and how is that benefiting you?** A major problem in teaching that I have solved involves grading of homework. We do not have a large enough budget to hire enough graders to grade homework. WileyPLUS solves that problem. Associated with this solution is the instant feedback and problem solutions given to students. The algorithmic determination of problems helps to reduce students from merely entering the numbers that another student has found to be correct for his/her problem. The availability of videos demonstrating aspect of the subject matter that are difficult to produce in the classroom. Practice questions and practice problems give students the opportunity to test their understanding on their own timetable. Features such as "What an Engineer Sees" present an active solution of problems with illustrations and voice over that are similar to what an instructor might do in the classroom. ### 6. I like availability of user help and representatives to help set up. **What do you dislike about WileyPLUS?** The platform looks a lot like canvas and there are two due dates for assignments which can be confusing. Often, repetitive processes to set up due dates and criteria for assignments, should be easier to use. **Recommendations to others considering WileyPLUS:** Great platform for higher ed users, can be frustrating at the beginning but there are tutorials and help available at all times. **What problems is WileyPLUS solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use it to leave homework in my college-level classes for my language courses. I use it also via the integration with e-textbook and help with grammar tutorials. Database for exams, etc, is great. ### 7. Wiley keeps in contact not only with the administrators of accounts but connects with the teachers and professors who are using their materials. The amount of professional development opportunities, learning strategies, and other webinars make using Wiley titles and platforms easy. **What do you dislike about WileyPLUS?** There are no real downsides to the Wiley programs and platforms. They are easy to adopt and customers are provided with product specialists to adopt the program and set up their courses. **What problems is WileyPLUS solving and how is that benefiting you?** The benefits of the Wiley Plus program provide teachers and professors with suggestions, TIPS, resources, and academic research on strategies to present the material in the best possible way to engage the student learner as well as to have the students be partners while using the program. ### 8. Learning is meaningful in that it is personalized and unique to the individual by applying course content to personal habits. **What do you dislike about WileyPLUS?** Some students have had issues with the cost of the program from Wiley Plus. **Recommendations to others considering WileyPLUS:** This has been a seamless product to implement. I have had immediate support when needed to get my students enrolled and online to complete the requirements of my task. **What problems is WileyPLUS solving and how is that benefiting you?** This has made student learning personally relevant in such a way that my students often opt for more courses with me in future terms. The level of student engagement is high and their take away learning is significantly elevated. ### 9. The power points provided in the instructor resources as well as the test bank are helpful. There are great interactive videos, tutorials to help students learn and succeed in the course. **What do you dislike about WileyPLUS?** It's not very compatible with internet explorer but I think this issue will be solved soon. **Recommendations to others considering WileyPLUS:** It's a great platform. Very helpful for both students and instructors. They provide a top notch customer support and they are always looking for ways to improve their product promote active learning and help students succeed in the course. **What problems is WileyPLUS solving and how is that benefiting you?** Currently, I have no problem with WileyPlus, I did have a problem with the grade book but my customer success specialist helped me solve it. I use WileyPlus to assign online homework, to prepare my lecture power points and the test bank for in-class tests. ### 10. I also love that the customer support is amazing for instructors and students alike. I like all the course resources that are available for instructors and students. It is very user friendly. **What do you dislike about WileyPLUS?** I'm not sure there is anything I dislike about the product I use at WileyPlus. The textbook is fantastic, the Blackboard integration works well, and I can create my own assignments or use theirs. It's great! **What problems is WileyPLUS solving and how is that benefiting you?** Wiley is saving me from manual grading, and it is saving me from making multiple versions of the same assignment, since it is algorithmic.
