We want and need students to engage actively and meaningfully with content. To that end, I have tested many interactivity tools in my years as an educator. I consider Playposit to be one of the best tools I have used. I tested this tool in an online 400-level engineering course. The data we collected demonstrated outstanding levels of participation and mastery. Students gave very positive feedback. While the price tag may be intimidating, the affordances of this tool are well worth it. Stable platform, well-designed and easy to learn, intuitive user interface, many options for interactivities at all levels of Bloom's taxonomy, very granular controls allowing for many, many creative combinations of setups, and seamless integration with Canvas and Blackboard, as well as outstanding support availability, make this tool a great investment. **What do you dislike about WeVideo?** Due to the investment required, this tool is meant to be a keystone tool, and is best leveraged by an admin team committed to backing this investment with a well-thought through long-term plan to train and support instructors/designers in widespread adoption over time. **What problems is WeVideo solving and how is that benefiting you?** Playposit provides interaction, active learning and accountability to improve the online learning experience and make instructors work easier. ### 2. It gets better each time you use it! It is also easy to download your finished product into a video or audio form. You can even add your YouTube or Google Drive accounts for easy uploads! I've used it for 6 years now, and I love it! **What do you dislike about WeVideo?** I use the free version, and there's a lot that they throw in your face that you can't have, such as their expansive archive of videos and pictures. Great way to keep students engaged during videos **Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Kerri W. | Teacher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** March 05, 2019 **What do you like best about WeVideo?** I really like the ability to take a pre-existing video or one that I've made (on pow-toons for example) and splice it with a question - either multiple choice or open-ended - or a poll, or even a thought I want to interject. **What do you dislike about WeVideo?** There is a feature that the teacher can enable or disable which would allow the student (or not allow) the student to be able to rewind the video if needed. I have not been able to get this feature to work and my IEP kids need this! I don't know if it's my error or somehow an error of the program, but I haven't had the time to explore it more. **Recommendations to others considering WeVideo:** I think it's worthwhile to check this software out. It syncs with my Google classroom and is fairly easy to learn how to use it. I would manually check students' answers. I did find only about 3 times that play posit marked a student's answer incorrect (multiple choice) when it was correct. **What problems is WeVideo solving and how is that benefiting you?** This software literally gives me the ability to be in two places at one time! This helps enormously when differentiating instruction. I can have one group working on answering the questions and watching a video while I'm helping another group. Also, when an absence is known about ahead of time, this is a great activity to assign for a substitute. You can be assured that the correct information is getting to the students. ### 4. It is easy, and I've used it for multiple school projects since middle school. It has a lot of features I like and I know how to use it after using it for so long. **What do you dislike about WeVideo?** The pricing is horrible and ridiculous. Over the past few years, the prices have only gone up, and after finally finishing a school project, it would not let me export it. I had already made only two exports but had to make the improvements for a better score on my final presentation, and to buy the plan for only a month is ten dollars, which is stupidly expensive to export one video for a required school project I put so much time and effort into. I am not made of money. **What problems is WeVideo solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is easy to create videos and edit them, but the pricing is stupidly high. ### 8. I started with Zero video editing skills. That is a plus with WeVideo! The stock videos are nice. Except for worst , slow performance, WeVideo is ok. **What do you dislike about WeVideo?** Performance - worst! Very, very slow to process videos. You have to wait for ages to complete editing for a simple 2 minute video. No matter how great your laptop configuration is, or how fast your internet speed is, the performance of WeVideo is pathetic! **What problems is WeVideo solving and how is that benefiting you?** I brought the performance issue to WeVideo group, a few times, but nothing has been done to fix this core issue. Customers do not like to be kept on wait forever. ### 9. The platform does just about everything we need and is exremely user friendly when it comes to editing. Can be used on a computer or phone with the wevideo app. **What do you dislike about WeVideo?** Everything is great about it. The only downside would be the lack of .png graphics to spice up a video. That would be really nice! Also, it'd be nice to have a few more text box formats to choose from. **What problems is WeVideo solving and how is that benefiting you?** WeVideo allows us to create and edit our own commercials (which we post on youtube, facebook, and our local cable TV provider). We do it for less than 10% of what the cable provider wanted to charge us for still images only! Great value! ### 10. Students can log in to their accounts on any device and all of their work is there and ready to go. Secondly, there is a huge library of sounds, music, images, and video clips. Videos can be created without ever filming a clip! Finally, students can not only create videos but also podcasts, screencasts, and animated GIFs as well all from WeVideo. **What do you dislike about WeVideo?** There is almost nothing that I don't like about WeVideo but if I had to pick one thing it would be that sometimes it can be a bit slow with uploading content. However, this must be expected with a cloud-based program and would NEVER stop me from using WeVideo. **What problems is WeVideo solving and how is that benefiting you?** In schools today, we need to be thinking about the future our students will be facing and creativity is always near the top of lists that employers a looking for and with WeVideo students have that outlet. Students can create video versions of essays, and persuasive writing, they can animated stories, they can create newscasts, and so much more.
