**Reviewed Date:** March 14, 2022

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

Mozilla Thunderbird is absolutely the best free email client you can get.
It's very simple to use and it has an easy to use interface.
There are tons of free addons available such a language dictionaries and many utilities.
Moreover if you change computer even with a different operating systems, you can move that "Thunderbird" data folder to the new computer and BAM! You have it all there: emails, contacts, accounts and all the configuration.
The best part is that Mozilla looks for your privacy and is composed by a huge community.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

I absolutely love Mozilla Thunderbird. I can't find anything I dislike and I'm using it a lot of years already.
Something to improve could be the general search. I find the results a bit confusing for me.

I solve the problem of checking emails in several places.
With Mozilla Thunderbird you can setup all your email accounts and work with all of them right in one easy to use place.
I can benefit of having more time to dedicate to other important tasks, while having the "email thing" solved.

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 21, 2022

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

The best thing i like about thunderbird is the option to add multiple accounts on the same application. We can add different user accounts and access them without affecting each other. Another thing that i like is activity manager feature. Which allows us to view all the activites such as mail sent, received, mail filtering, deletion, etc.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

Thunderbird has simple user interface. Display pictures of account users are not displayed while receiving an email. This feature is almost available on other mailing softwares. This features needs to be added. Apart from this, all the features are good.

In our organisation, we use thunderbird mailing application to work on project related tasks. This helps us in tracking activities. Mails are proof and cannot be unsend. **Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josh S. | Media and Communications Minister, Religious Institutions, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2021

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

Free is always a great thing, but when it comes to a software that packs most of the major features of its pricey counterpart, it is even better. Thunderbird has all the features you want in an email client. You can set up multiple different accounts and inboxes and create many different folders to keep it all organized. There is a calendar integrated. If you are looking for a free equivalent to Outlook then this is your software.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

I have had some rare issues where the app would get stuck for some reason and would crash when trying to pull up my email. To remember this, I would have to remove and add that account back. It is not the end of the world but a minor inconvenience for sure.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Thunderbird solves the problem of having multiple email inbox accounts all centralized in one area, so you don't have to check on different websites. It also has an excellent website composer to write well-compiled emails.

I love the attachment reminder functionality that searches for mentions of 'attachments' in your email body and notifies you if you forget to attach the file.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

The user interface is packed too closely together which makes the application harder to use on smaller screens

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

Thunderbird is a free and open email client for all operating systems. The application has modern email client functionality in a compact package, and it allows you to import your emails, events, and address book from your existing email client.

Thunderbird allows me to sort my email into various categories using intelligent filters, including spam filtering and keeping my emails organized. I'm able to utilize Thunderbird with multiple accounts to keep everything in one place.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

The graphical interface Thunderbird employs does feel a bit dated. That's not something that would deter me from using the software, but it could benefit from a "facelift" of sorts.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

I don't like the format of the presentation of settings... it takes a while to find the one setting that you actually need.

As with any other login, case matters, so watch what you type when configuring for a mail server.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This particular version (Linux version) solves the problem of finding a mail client with all the bells and whistles that will run on Linux, and expandability to get even more!

  ### 17. Easy to Use Email Client

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aman G. | Business Development Executive, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

There are a couple of features which I liked a lot in Thunderbird and here are they:

1) The best feature is opening different tabs all at one point and accordingly sending emails from different accounts all at one point.

2) Thunderbird helps to customize the email draft with custom subject lines and attachments while sending emails to clients or people.

3) It helps to switch between email accounts for sending emails easily with drop-down options, unlike others.

4) It made Mail Merging smooth through the Email Commands it operates within (i.e. curly brackets). It easily picks up words from the excel sheet identified within curly brackets before sending the email. Mail merging happens by adding installing a free add-on from the list.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

There are a couple of things which I think can be better:

1) I do not see any in-built options to add a calendar. I need to manually install the extensions.

2) The user experience is smooth but the interface is not very good as compared to other email clients available in the market.

3) I do not have the option to send a meeting invite from Thunderbird. If I have to send an invite, I then need to login into the email account directly and send it. This is not the case with Outlook.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The following problems Thunderbird helps me to solve:

1) Sending bulk emails with ease with custom subject lines because I was facing issues with Outlook to send and that also with custom subject lines.

2) Many Add-ons are available to be inserted in Thunderbird as compared to Outlook.

3) Manage Chat within Thunderbird and add Google Talk, etc. which is not the case with Outlook.

4) Dedicated Management of each Email Account effectively in a single-window whereas Outlook does not. In outlook, I have to manage each email account by opening it again n again.

  ### 18. Thunderbird is a great alternative to outlook

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jennifer H. | P, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 31, 2021

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

Thunderbird is customizable, free, and works as well, if not better than outlook. It is extremely easy to set up email accounts with.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

The look and feel takes some getting used to. Unless you want to customize it, it looks pretty old school.

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

As mentioned prior, Thunderbird is extremely easy to set up your IMAP/pop email accounts with. You will most likely not need to manually enter your server information, which is extremely convenient. Visually, I think Thunderbird is simple but is customizable to your needs. There are a lot of add ons available to use within the program that range from productivity to visual customizations. I highly recommend this product!

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Outlook was continuously kicking me out of Gmail-based work email accounts, as well as crashing. I switched to Thunderbird and stopped having these issues.

  ### 19. Love Thunderbird

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2019

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

I enjoy using Thunderbird as it is easy to use and you can do so much with it. I like that you can make folders to separate your emails so that your main folder does not get so clogged up. I like that you can make message filters so that people who send you email frequently can get the emails put in a specific folder.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

I dislike two things- one is I used to be able to have ReminderFox attached to Thunderbird. That helped me tremendously to remember tasks and it would give me reminders when I had the screen open. However, due to a recent update, that is no longer working. I wish there were more add-ons for Thunderbird. Also, I dislike the fact that it is not accessible from another desktop (or at least not that I know of). I can only seem to utilize this when I'm at work.

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

It is a great email software to use, I think even better than Microsoft Outlook. Very user friendly and you can do a lot with it for your email.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The business problems that I solve with Thunderbird is that it gives me access to my email in a really simple way. I also like that it really helps keep my emails all organized, that I can prioritize them with colors and tags. Very good software system!

  ### 20. The email client that does exactly what it says on the cover!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Philip H. | Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 16, 2020

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

* It collects my emails from multiple POP and IMAP email servers.
* It stores my emails locally, so they can be backed up where I want them to be stored.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

* It sometimes objects to my Office 365 connection, although I've never lost any emails because of this issue.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

* It collects my emails from multiple POP and IMAP email servers.

  ### 21. Great Alternative to Outlook

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2021

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

This is lightweight and not bloated. I have not ever experienced any strange errors like I have with Outlook. So for Windows-based machines, this is an alternative.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

Transferring data from one PC to another can be tricky but is possible. It is actually harder for Thunderbird to Thunderbird transfers. The search feature often reveals too much data to sift through. I generally use the filter option which is much cleaner.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have had many customers get problems with Outlook after their pst file gets too large. However, even shrinking it does not get rid of the problems and after awhile to problems seem to occur even after repairs. Thunderbird is clean and simple.

  ### 22. excellent free email client with calender

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

I have been using Thunderbird for my email accounts for many years now. It is easy and fast to install, very intuitive to use, and of course, totally free. I find it much more user-friendly than commercial alternatives like Outlook. The three features I like most about Thunderbird are:
(1) organize all your email accounts in one place
(2) structure your emails with folders, subfolders, rules, and filters
(3) use the integrated calendar option
Now Thunderbird has an integrated PDF-Reader so that you can easily open attachments within Thunderbird.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

Except for occasional crashes (maybe twice per year), I have nothing to complain about the email client. The synchronization of the calendar is sometimes a bit slow.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Thunderbird is the email client that I have used for all my email addresses for many years. I particulary appreciate that I can organize several email accounts in one place.

  ### 23. Synchronize server email

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Darryn T. | Finance System, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 19, 2022

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

I like Thunderbird's automatic server connection, connection by domain, and SSL encrypted security from the device.
It is free and compatible with Windows and Linux, perfect for my daily work.
Divide by folder the mailbox, calendar, and pre-designed themes available.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

Some details are needed to make it perfect; for example, Android application, system user login, and data export and domain access connection easier to perform.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Thunderbird to sync my email on my Windows and Linux PC; each email I can sign and search an extensive list.

  ### 24. Keeps my Emails Organized

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Naomi H. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2021

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

I love having multiple email inboxes in one place, making it much easier to stay organized. I can even drag and drop emails from one account to another.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

A recent update affected some of my add-ons, causing them to no longer work. The biggest one for me was no longer having the ability to color-code my inboxes according to which account it is. I finally figured out a work-around by tagging emails as they come in and setting each tag to a different color. I'm a happy camper again!

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I currently have seven email accounts that I can track at a glance. Email organization and cleanup have never been more effortless!

  ### 25. Best Email Client

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matt H. | Web Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

Thunderbird is the best desktop application for email. I can check multiple email accounts at a glance, as well as keep track of my schedule.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

The one downside is that there is no easy way to color-code your email accounts. I found a workaround, but this should be a fundamental option.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I no longer need to keep switching between email accounts nor have multiple tabs open, using up precious browser resources.

  ### 26. Synchronize email

**Reviewed by:** Gauna G. | Manager and Clerk, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

I like to synchronize all kinds of emails from different servers, encrypt passwords and emails sent and received to the device.
Calendar and compatible with Windows and Linux.
Speak within the same platform, topics and writing options.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

I do not like the installation of the official page in Linux, a lot of work and does not have a package ready without compiling.
I do not have access to the cloud for backup, I cannot migrate information with custom options from Thunderbird to my second device with Thunderbird.

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

Download, synchronize with the server and enjoy a stable, secure and Open Source system.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Synchronize different emails from different servers available on the Internet and locally, message encryption and direct server password.

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

It is open-source that is free of cost and very fast to receive and load heavy emails. The filter part is very useable and practical with a lot of conditions to search easier

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

Drag and drop functionality is missing. Updates are significantly less available.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using it internally for office work and never found any problem even sharing heavy files, also Chat functionality is very useful to interact

  ### 28. Synchronize email from external server

**Reviewed Date:** November 09, 2017

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

The email client is neat and clean visual presentation. The SPAM protection is the best with Thunderbird so I chose this product for my Email Client need. When searching an email, it responses very fast and almost accurate. If I compare it with other free products, like eM-client and MailBird, Thunderbird is ahead.

The quick filter and using of tag helps organizing and dealing with emails quickly.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

The working capability is good so unable to give any dislike but the looks (themes) should be added more often so user can redesign the appearance/looks as per their preference. The backup of emails or transfer to other email clients (like Microsoft Outlook) is not present nor easy. We need to have Outlook Express (Very old software) or some third party software for this conversion. The simple sharing of occasions among clients could be worth added if this component can work smoothly.

All the bells and whistles, for free. You can't get a better value propostion than that. I also highly value companies that respect your privacy.
It's very easy to manage 12 email addresses while also keeping everything organized.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

The UI could be a little bit more modern.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I wanted a solution for the 12 email addresses that I manage. I previously used gmail, but privacy has become a bigger priority as of late, so I went looking for an alternative. I've tried all the email apps, and some of them were great, even as great as Thunderbird. But Thunderbird is free and more privacy oriented than the others.
So it solves the problem of being able to receive and send emails without my privacy being invaded. And it has the same filtering capabilities as gmail, which I really need.
